  • The john vickery atatata is much better than the japanese voice one in the new hokuto no ken movies. He's really bad... The one in shin hokuto no ken is second best to akira kamiya.

  • Comment removed

  • He looks like he came out of retirement to kill him.

  • Whats up witht he girly high pitch "AAAAATATATATATATATATATATAAAA!!!!"

  • Gotta love the beard.

  • Kenshiro look like King Leonidas LOL ..... THIS IS ... WATATATATATATATATATATA !!!!!!

  • He looks like a combination of the brawny man, Chuck Norris, a Body Builder, and Bruce Lee.

DEAR LORD WE ARE ALL SO DEAD.

  • Kenshiro + Beard = God-like Manliness

  • I'd pay both actors to make the sound effects for my lawn sprinkler.

  • With the beard Ken looks like Chuck Norris only beefier :O

  • i think the jap better than the English one attttttttaaaaaaaaaa

  • wonder why leonidas didn't use Hokuto hyakuretsu ken againts Jerjes as he used here...

  • Ah, such a manly beard....

  • I wonder if anyone will do a redub of this movie, knowing Funimation? I mean they did Initial D, so why not the series?

  • @BMan100 No. Just No.

FOTNS is good as it is.

  • @RikiOhRed tell that to them lol.

  • Kenshiro - the decedent of Chuck Norris!

  • @Sinnikkyys

You have it backwards, my friend.

Chuck Norris is the descendent of Kenshiro.

  • @Sinnikkyys Wrong. Kenshiro IS Chuck Norris.

  • @RedTigerMike OMG Kenshiro IS Bruce Lee. Don`t be a fanboy. You're totally wrong.

Chuck Norris is a joke, a product thanks Bruce Lee. Learn about it. Ok?

Kenshiro looks like Bruce Lee and Stallone, but fights like Bruce Lee. Don't lie. Ok?

  • @megamanap87 Sorry asshole, but if Kenshiro was Bruce Lee.... He would already be dead. If I remember correctly, Lee was a mortal man. Norris is still alive, breathing, and uses martial arts for non-profit reasons. He turned down a movie offer to be John Kreese (Kobra Kai Instructor in Karate Kid)

Your clearly uneducated in martial arts... so go back to playing your fighting games at the arcade....

    BTW お前はもう死んでいる。

  • @RedTigerMike If you write that Kenshiro would be dead, you're the asshole. Kenshiro is an anime character, idiot.

Karate Kid = 80's years, Bruce Lee movies = 70. Did you get that?

You don't know about martial arts, you only knows about movies. You're proving hypocrisy when you wrote that is based on Chuck Norris.

Did you see the eyebrows, hair, moves, kungfu moves, combos (hokuto hyakuretsu ken), etc? And you said Chuck Norris. Poor ignorant and fanboy.

    You lies shamelessly.

  • @RedTigerMike You believe the Chuck Norris jokes, that is because you're a kid and you didn't learn about this topic.

Please first learn and then you can say. For immature lies because your ignorance , better not write.

    Ok kid?

  • I think the original is better, but I'd say the dub is still good nonetheless.

  • @lulztimer Lol. You're a gay high schooler!

  • It sounds weird in English. I know I sound like a weeaboo when saying that, but hearing English Kenshiro just sounds odd.

    Japanese: AAAAAATATATATATATATATATAT AAAAAATATATATATA WHA-CHA!

    English: NYEEEEEEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDE NYEDEDEDEDEDEDED EEEETOH!

  • LOL!!!! They created fusion for people!? Kool, they fused Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. Beast!

    JK though...mostly

  • 0:05 looks like spartacus got some new tricks

  • What I expected: English dub

What I got: someone who thinks he's the Tiny Dragon.

  • Chuck Norris + Bruce Lee = Kenshiro

  • Kenshiro is the reason why Chuck Norris has a beard.

  • Gawd! Ludacris Speed! I think Ken went plad!

  • The english did a better atatata than the remake version of hokuto no ken. akira kamiya will always be the best, older voice actors are much better after all, it pissed me off when they made some random voice actor voice him in the remake, the same with souther.

  • When dealing with Kenshiro.. english S-U-C-K-S!!!!!!!!! You just CAN'T make him say "ititititit" or "dedededede" or "whateverwhateverwhateverwhatever" if one of the MAIN reasons he's so famous is his trademark badass japanese fucking cool "atatatatata!"!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS SPARTATATATATAAATTATATATATATATAATATATTAATATATATATATATATA!

  • I don't care what you weeaboos say. At this moment, English just ATATATATATATATATATATATATATAATATA WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! - Japanese right out the window.

  • The language doesn't really matter, since all the viewers are ALREADY DEAD.

  • english : itititititititititititititititit IIIIIIIIIIIITOOO!!

    jap: atatatatatatatatatat WATTAAAAA!!!

    jap > eng

  • English sounds more awesome!

  • atatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatata-

  • This is Spaaaaaaaaaaartatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatata!! AAAAtttaaa!

  • 英語版も凄い迫力!!

  • Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken

    Tomon Ketsu Ha Shiso

these two are both my favorites!!!

  • Too bad that guy had to die two times in the video XD

  • OMG this really looks like the scene from "this is sparta"! :O

  • wow that was actually pretty good!

  • Woah. The english version was better than the japanese dub? I most certainly am WA SHOCK!

  • Vickery does a damn fine job here. And while I definitely prefer Kamiya's I have to admit that the final forehead punch in the English dub was pretty damn funny (in a good way). It's probably the more forceful way he delivers the "DOH!" coupled with the louder sound effect they used.

  • John Vickery does it waaaayyy faster that Akira Kamiya

  • Chris Brown took this literally on Rihanna's face :P

  • @TehBoxEater

Someone hasn't seen FMA or GITS: SAC...

  • @MHMemeDoubleYourFun Bruce lee has no beard onli the great Walker Texas Ranger lol

  • @manup1 Yeah, but Norris has orange.

  • @MHMemeDoubleYourFun Mhhhh I Beg To Differ ....On Guard

  • @TehBoxEater i totaly agree japanese is always better in the dubs things seem to get lost in translation lol

  • I used to think the English dub of Fist of the North Star was lulzy - and then I actually *listened* (as opposed to just passively reading the subtitles) to the Japanese one - the villains were just as "cartoony" sounding in Japanese as in English.

Also, Kenshiro is badass in any language. It's impossible for it to be any other way.

  • you're just a weaboo shut up

  • the first kenshiro was actually chuck norris dub in japanese

  • @manup1 No, it was Bruce Lee.

  • when anime were not about gay high schoolers.

  • @hassmann2000 Literally gay. XD

No, seriously. My girlfriend watches (dare I say it) Junjou Romantica. UGGH.

  • @hassmann2000 amen!

  • @hassmann2000 instant thumbs up for you man.

  • @airwolfman Anime has really gone down the dump nowadays.

  • @hassmann2000 Y'know, it is kind of "recurring", this down the dump thing. All the games, all the animes, all the movies, even the cartoon feature-movies - everything that was pre-year 2000 was better. :/

At least we could express those times :)

  • @hassmann2000 cromartie high school was pretty funny though

  • @UCGundam Hold your horses there pal. Cromarite is awesome and doesn't fall into the gay leagues.

  • @hassmann2000 yeah. anime today is kinda lame

  • @UCGundam That's because Cromartie high was based on Such Classics as Sakigake!! Otokojuku.

  • @hassmann2000

And back when action series involved guys punching the shit out of each other to solve problems.

  • With facial hair, how many celebrities and fictional characters does he resemble?

  • I don't know about anybody else, but I see Mel Gibson.

  • @FIameAdder In fact, Mel Gibson played Max Rockatansky, one of the characters Kenshiro was influenced by along with the celebrity Bruce Lee.

Other celebrities and fictional characters people think he resembles include Billy Mays, Leonidas (the one that shouted "THIS IS SPARTA!"), Saddam Hussein, Zac Brown, and especially Chuck Norris (because of the Chuck Norris Facts meme).

  • HOLY SHIT, Mel Gibson played Mad Max? WOW! I had NO IDEA! That's fucking amazing!

  • i think the problem here is that they tried to doi the japanese pitch....the voice actor should have just did something more within his range....still the japanese ATATATATATAT is just too iconic

  • @darkoni12398 you said it

  • English dub's quite good, actually. Not articulate enough with the "atatatata", though. Sounds more like "adadadada" to me.

  • Naturally everyone will prefer the Japanese(?) dub just because its the more often heard version, thus not the original and not what people think it should sound like. However, try asking a non-biased person whose never heard either before which sounds better.

  • @Sponge3737 I'll vouch for that. Hearing it in english, it's obvious that it's better. For one thing, the VA sounds as old as the character should sound like.

  • @TehBoxEater Heck yeah it is

  • HOKTO NORRIS!!!!!!!!!

  • It turns out that John Vickery, Kenshiro's English VA in this video here, went on to play roles in Babylon 5 and Star Trek. He also did the voice Lucifer in the recent Dante's Inferno game.

  • Holy shit, the beard makes the Hyakuretsu x10 FASTER!

  • Japanese version wins, but the english version is cool too though, John Vickery put a nice effort on this

  • dont fuck with BEARDED KENSHIRO.

  • @TehBoxEater DBZ english dub>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>japanese dub

  • John Vickery sound like Cell Jr.

  • They both better than the modern voice actors.

Feckin' Koyasu as Ken...HAVE THEY THE BRAIN WORMS?

  • In terms of English Kenshiros, John Vickery is nothing compared to Lex Lang.

  • Roses are red

    violets are blue

    Omae wa mo Shindeiru

  • Comment removed

  • john vickery's voice over was ok, lex lang was better from the show, but akira kamiya will always be the best one who did kenshiro in both the show/movie but gary daniels failed to be him in the live movie

  • English guy didn't do a bad job with tihs.

Too bad the actual voice acting itself wasn't very good.

  • whats up with the beard XD

  • Old Ken is Leonidas!

  • Doesn't matter which language. the beard is what counts.

  • He was usually shaven.

  • @airwolfman Yeah, without the beard he looked like Sylvester Stallone, with it like some wierd hybrid betwen Stallone and Chuck Norris :D, now thats a combo! (HOKUTO HYAKURETSU ROUNDOUSE ASHI)

  • its sounds like Akira but faster.

  • that's chuck norris!

  • John Vickery is credit to team!

...No, I don't know why I quoted Heavy.

  • Wow I'm honestly surprised, that was solid. There is normally a vast difference. Good job on the English VA's part.

  • Wow, I'm impressed. In all honesty, I was expecting Kenshiro's English VA to use a deep voice or something. This was quite the pleasant surprise.

  • So is the English VA the same guy who did Hitmonlee from Pokemon?

  • Don't think so, but he is the same guy who played Gul Rusot on DS9

  • wow Eichiro ODa is such a copy cat stealing gomu gomu no cannon from the first guy in the video and gomu gomu no gattling from kenshiro

  • Pretty good, it's the same pitch qith some variations but it gets the job done :)

  • nnot bad he did as close of a job as humanly possible

  • Nice job from the english voice actor indeed.

Too much often they can't even compete with japanese ones...

  • both are awesome!! :O

  • aaaaaAAATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA WATAAAAAAAA!

    vs

    eeeeYAAAADEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDEDE EEEEYAAAA-DOH!

  • LMAOOOO! XD yeah.. i'd say you're right, I still prefer the aaaAAATATATATATATA one much better :P the second one sounds too childish to me

  • Nice job from English voice actor

  • oh no you didn't!

  • Japanese, English, both are BADASS!!!

  • THIS IS SPARTATATATATATATATATA WAH TAH!!!! (LOL the beard)

  • Why is his voice so high?????????????

  • wow i was expecting the english to be trash, he was fukin awesome

  • Wow, both of them are fantastic xD I love the original one but the English one is a nice change, and not terrible (for a change).

  • Hah, they're both pretty good!

  • Compare these two to the live action movie scene! lol

    I'd say the movie fails..

  • now i'm having a hard time who among them is better...jeez...

  • Japanese FTW

  • The english atatata was faster.but i just cant make up my mind which is better

  • Do you think either of them are using some sort of studio tool to do the ATATATATATATATATA, or do you think it's entirely the actors' doing?

  • Good Question doing the ATATATATA would be hard even for the actors

  • I vote it's the actors. It's not that hard to do. It's kind of hard to keep up for any extended period of time, but it's not hard to do.

  • True, true...but do you think they just did a few sessions of recording ATATATATAs, and then just used those recordings over and over again?

  • I kind of do, at least with John Vickery. If you listen to all of his instances of ATATATAs (or BIDIBIDIBIDI in this case) they all sound pretty much the same. I listened to the ones he used on Zeed, Heart, and Jagi during his flashback, and they all sounded identical.

For Akira Kamiya, I'm not sure.

  • I can hear Kamiya taking a breath or a pause at 00:19 so I'd say he did it himself.

  • @elrapido5150 Would make sense, that yelling thing is nearly impossible to do!

  • @elrapido5150 Probably. It was a cheaper time, and besides which, asking them to keep doing it is asking for vocal trouble.

  • I think with the beard, I think Kenshiro reminds me of Billy Mays.

  • "HI I'M KENSHIRO AND I'M HERE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE CLEANING POWER OF MY FISTS IN YOUR FACE!!"

I think I'd buy something Kenshiro was selling.

  • I'd buy anything he was selling

  • @yaburu LOL If Ken was selling that to me I'd be like "Sure. He's $20,000, my house, my wife, and my pride. I hope you'll accept this as payment."

  • @yaburu You are already sold!

  • both are great

  • If we're judging this on accuracy alone, the english one is doing its own damn thing and isn't even close. They're not even saying the same thing.

However, Vickery's is the more badass one. At least to me. I feel that it better conveys the absurd speed and effort Ken puts into those strikes.

  • I already did it. Search for "My First Youtube Poop - Kyon Kun's Denwa " in youtube.

  • He did pretty well, he's no Mark Gatha(Domon Kasshu), but he did pretty well.

  • The english dub did AATATATATATATATA really well.

  • uh very nice comparation so than the english and japanese dub are good and almost same =) that's nice

  • Well, that's pretty good.

I mean all you dissers, try the same and see if you can make it sound so awesome ;)

  • The Dub version of this is actually quite good.

Hell, it's quite a damn feat to be able to do the ATATATATA or in this case, "YATITITITITITITITITITITITITIAH!" in such a fast speed without slurring the words.'

    Give him some slack. :/

  • OMG! It's Leonidas! THIS! IS! SPARTAAAAAATATATATAATATATATATAATATATATATATATATATAA!!!!!!

  • @xxmago Ken does wear a beard well, surprisingly.

  • @xxmago Tly I thought he looked more like Jesus

  • But is true, unfortunately most English dubs for anime are crap, they sound like they are having a beer and reading the papers instead of japanese like, living the anime.

  • Weaboos dont be so blind, the english voice is pretty good too, but the japanese one surpasses it by a mile though.

  • 1st one: atatatatatatatatatatatatata

    2nd one: itititititititititititit

    what? 2nd one sounds retarded

  • both versions are great and work perfectly in the scene. Kamiya's version is classic and always great to hear. Vickery's version is great as well, there's more of a sense of speed in his "hyakuretsu ken", but i reiterate both versions are great.

  • Wow, dude really did a great job.

  • Wow, what a prejudiced thing to say.

  • @sec0ndevolution I don't believe he meant to prejudice what he meant was that he prefers the original voice acting and feels that an english dub normally ruins the anime/scene, however I may agree with this to an extent some anime are preferably better dubbed.

  • the english voice is fag

    Kamiya is godlike

  • is this from hokuto no ken 2 or the movie?

  • The 1986 theatrical movie.

  • lol i acually liked the dubbing for this show but either way the battle cry still owns

  • Madness?

    THIS IS HOKUTOOOOOOO!

  • por que nunca paso en México¡ :(

  • bleah, the english dub seems a fat idiot who tries to do kenshiro at punchmania's game, japanese owns this time CASE CLOSED.

  • both are awsome

  • I gotta agree that the American dub is much better here...But it's one of the few occasions that English dub > Japanese. Usually it's the other way around because English voice actors feel awkward putting genuine emotions into their acting...I will bring up King of Fighters Maximum Impact for proof >.>

  • the english doesnt beat the japanese. its pretty much equal cause the english doesnt even have the atatatatatata! it has something that sounds like hes saying dee dee's name (from dexters lab) over and over again. so really i can tell you that there are more things here than than how loud they yell. the quality on the enlgish ver is worse. in the japanese you can more clearly see things rather than some red shade (or something) covering everything like in jagis fire on the rooftop scene.

  • The American guy says it so fast it comes out "dididididi". American dub is ten times better. I always prefer dubbing because Americans just have a better sense for entertainment. That's their industry.
