No, I've never seen the film Shade.

But even if I had, I can guarantee there would be no similarity, knowing the team who consulted on that film and indeed that I have fooled each and every one of them with this routine.

But I feel no need to prove what's happening. The effect is everything, and I could take any good quality deck and do this effect: Take four cards, cleanly insert and square them, then a shuffle and bam!

I learned it from Darwin Ortiz. It's written up in the lecture notes "Down Under Deals". Yes you can cull cards without removing them, but not four at once... unless you're lucky. ;)

There's not a lot to it. Just riffle shuffle then lift up the middle section while your pinkies keep the outer ends anchored - then let go. Just tinker, you'll get it.

The cull is in "Down Under Deals" which is currently only available from Michael Vincent online. The routine in the video is my own and there's a whole bunch of original stuff going on.

I'll post more when I get a chance.

great i have been looking for down under deals for a while now but i just could not seem to find it. I hope the name helps
