@thelostworld For a long time now Snappy uses activator for launch methods. Snappy tries to set tap hold status bar by default, but may not if you already have it assigned to something else. You may go to the activator settings and set a launch method for snappy. Also, I highly recommend upgrading to iOS 5.x if you can.
@Saviour86 No. Snappy can be launched and run without exiting your current application. Assigning a launch method to the native camera app with activator will exit your current application, and then launch the camera app. Also, Snappy is slightly faster to launch b/c it runs inside of a process that is always running (Springboard) and therefore there is no process startup time. Snappy now uses Activator for launch methods so you may assign any of its available methods.
Good Work.!! Any news on weather this great app will be compatible with 4.2.1? I have tried CamereButtons and FastSnap, neither of them allow you access to the camera from lockscreen, although they say they do. Sad times.
@kb1ooo Hi i figured out what it was that was stopping me from accessing the camera from my lockscreen. I has the Passcode feature turned on. If only an app could bypass the passcode feature and access the camera it would save a hell of a lot of time.
@sk8t3rb0y666 Not yet. I'll know more after this weekend about how much will be involved to get it working. Follow me on twitter (kb1ooo) to stay up to date.
Is there a way to downgrade to the previous version of Snappy? I LOVED the previous versions ability to take pictures even when the iPhone screen is locked and turned off (works great in conjunction with SnapTap). The new version of Snappy removed this capability, and I am so very bummed out by it. This should be considered a feature, not a bug!
Snappy is not exactly always running in the background. It runs inside of a process that is always running. When it is not launched, it will not use extra battery power. When it is launched, it will use about as much power as the native camera app (somewhat less if no other apps are running because it doesn't need to run an extra process).
There are now 3 methods for launch. up volume followed by quick down volume, double home tap, and the original tap and hold status bar.

it's not working with my IOS 4.0.2, it doesn't start up when i hold my statusbar at the lockscreen. is it because it doesn't work with activator?

@MrSuperFly86 Snappy is 4.2.1 compatible, though there is currently a conflict with LocationSpoofer. Please send me email to debug your issue.

@MrSuperFly86 Snappy *does* bypass the passcode. You may set Snappy to disallow library browsing from the lockscreen if it is a concern.

This app is awesome, and no, so far I've not noticed any battery drain.
Any chance you could add a video option? PLEASE!

im guessing its fast because its always running in the background
also do you know if winterboard themes use battery ?
theskill1 2 years ago
yeah, i'm wondering this aswell
also, is this an application that has it's own icon in the homepage or is the only way to access it through the status bar?
