I play this kind of music on my radio station all the time. memories887fm(dot)weebly(dot)com I really wish this kind of music was played more on the radio ;)
I don't believe there was ever a better trombone player than Tommy Dorsey! This is one of my favorite songs of The Big Band Era! I am 54, and I like classic Rock too, but when I want to relax, there is nothing better than this!
More than twenty years before I was born... There were a few talented blues artists that recorded after the big bands. Then, just like everything else, it was all about money and glitz. Remember Elvis the pelvis? Quite a shame.
this is the best music ever created. im 19 and that just goes to show that tommy dorsey is truely timeless. brava, and rest in peace, the sentimental gentleman of swing
@0AmericanBurger0 It had the same affect on me. I had that episode on my DVR and just finished watching it... too weird. Funny that I kinda consider myself a "metalhead"... go figure... I suppose talent is timeless.
@matters9319 I can't begin to tell you how heartening it was to read your comment. This was recorded when my parents were kids (dad's 85, mom's gone), and I listened to it with them in the 70s, long before you were born. And with those like you of your generation appreciating this timeless music, there's indeed hope yet. I can see you passing this down to the generation that comes after yours.
@matters9319 I am 50 something? I grew up with the music of the 60tys, peace love and that stuff. But I still like to listen to the good music of the past. And this is the stuff that shouldn't ever die!
despite the poor recording quality and crackle this track is incredible - perfect, in tune in time and wonderful expression all in one take! How many recorded artists can say that now?
It's a great video - long live great tunes and musicians!
my great grand pa and ma died and left all these redords and i bought myself a record player ,this music is the best it sets the mood just right!!!!!!!
You may or may not be an old soul sweetie, but you obviously appreciate really great music. More power to you. I was listening to this stuff when I was a teenager and that music was not of that era, so there you go!
Dang I love the big band sound. Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey were great. This is one of my favorite pieces of that time. Soooooo Romantic. Today is boring by comparison.
I'm 21 and oddly enough I really like music like this. Modern music is just too loud and noisy that pretty much doesn't make any sense at all. Or i could be an old soul.. i dunno...lol
I see Sony or some has claimed a copyright status on this recording. Those links to amazon are a dead give away to copyright claims. I guess we can't complain too much since they allow them to stay up.
I LOVE these LP posts! First off, I think one of the main draws to this era of music is that a LOT of it was recorded "live" in the studio because they didn't have multi-track recording yet. With this natural warm sound you add the natural sound of vinyl and it's like another dimmension of sound that will NEVER be replicated by ANY digital equitpment EVER! Thanks for this post!
that would be true, this first record recorded him scratching the high note on the 2nd. melody. one of the only times ever recorded of Tommy messing a note. still great, thanks Jendor09

world two . The music was great , but the
times left a little to be desired !
