@TouchMeTherePlease LOL I know what you mean. I just re-watch the episodes until I get everything. Of course, it would help if I knew something about the horseracing industry. But I'm learning. Great show. Some of the finest acting on television.
@ElectrikJC John Ortiz (the successful trainer) is 1:05, brilliant Kevin Dunn (in the wheel chair) is 1:16 and great Nick Nolte (the older owner/trainer) is 1:01 .
I think this show sucks so far. The pilot episode was very unclear with many things, like the irish women. Where did they come from? What is their story? Also, The slurred speech I couldn't understand what they were saying for god sakes! And why is Dustin Hoffman playing a gangster? He looks anything BUT a gangster. Finally, they just mashed the whole thing together like a salad. It didn't properly introduce anything about each character except Hoffman.
@MrConservative95 Retard that was the whole point of the pilot. You're not smart enough to appreciate the serious when you make a judgement from one episode.
@MrSoprano92 I'm not smart enough to appreciate the serious of what? Read that again before you call someone a retard or not smart enough you hypocrite.
Deadwood was the same, and after watching the entire series 5 times, I'll still pick up something I didn't before. Milch doesn't just tell you what's going on like most shows geared toward people looking for some mindrot to veg out to. It's art, and every time you watch it you'll be finding something else out about a character.
@MrConservative95 Don't be impatient with it. The acting is great and Dustin makes a fine gangster, imo. I did watch the first episode multiple times before the series started. By the time ep 2 came along, I was hooked. Horse racing is its own world with its own lingo, etc., so I needed some education to get the hang of what was going on. Just my opinion, of course.
I love anything and everything touched by Michael Mann. This opening title sequence is just a small example of the great visionary he is. I can't wait to watch this show!
@kizamitsuki72 The director of Luck (Michael Mann) has been using Massive Attack songs at least since filming The Insider with Al Pacino and Russell Crowe in 1997. He also loves Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance.
I had the biggest grin when I recognized the opening; Massive Attack's Splitting The Atom. What David Milch does for my eyes with television, Massive Attack does for my ears. Just goddamn this show is going to be incredible.
@Veeshush lmao I had the same reaction to the song...Except it took me a min or two to remember where it was from at first. Which is stupid cuz I had this album on replay for a few months!
If the rza was still making beats like this the wu would still be on top, now he's an out of the closet faggot, R.I.P. Wu-tang clan

one of the best opening for a tv show, after game of thrones and boardwalk empire... (HBO rule!)

Any Blur fans out there, might be interested to know Damon Albarn helped out in the writing/production of the Splitting The Atom with Massive Attack.
