  • Garware apratim apratima !!!!!!

  • wow superb

  • Wow Superb

  • Great work..I love it..Wonderfully done.

I would love to share with you that interestingly there is a different style of tassa in the island of Trinidad in the Caribbean. It is great to see this part of the culture at the

other end of the world. Let's keep it going and alive.

  • jai maharashtra!!!!!!

  • Realy to listen this beats of tasa we should be in real fild without that it canot be realise.

  • Great to expose culture like this but it sounds like a western marching band? Where is the unique-ness of the Indian influence ? Tennors sound more like a drum snare, not so?

  • good............

  • aaaaaaaaaaaa veda jalo reeeee. ani veda kon ahe trinidad vala bhanchod chodu

  • wow dis real bad omg i never know dat there were somthing like dis

  • Tassa Worldwide!

I was born in Holland (the Netherlands) my parents born and raised in Surinam (Latin America) my anchesters are from INDIA. Whatever kinda tassa you play man, this is universal! And that is something no one can disrespect.

Watch our band on You Tube, Tassa Group Sima.

  • Nothing could ever beat Trinidad & Tobago's tassa, nothing!!!!!!!!

  • Shut yuh ass, if it wasn't for dem indian creating tassa, Trinidad would NEVER have it!

  • oooo ....are you should come to pune and see live, electronics isnt able to capture all the frequencies that these instrument generate.

    Pune tasha=best.

  • @ChristannJ I agree, and no I'm not indian, I'm a black Trini! I love Tassa!

  • @delicia11 yes yes our tassa sounds sooooo sweet :-)

I appreciate our culture... it's unique!!!

  • @ChristannJ You real ignorant just like the average tassa man. Don't judge tassa in India by this video, it have ah set of drummers in diff. parts of india who would send trini tassa men BACKPEDDLING in a jassal. Learn and do research before you post an ignorant comment.

  • how i miss this.. Love this noise.. m a Punekar at heart.. :D

  • @1311prachi

same here... but im mumbaikar :P

  • tuh toh bada tasha world champion nikla chutiye khajoor choose hue aam

  • WHO IN THE HELL ARE YOU TO TELL THEM TO STOP PLAYIN TASSA? If it wasn't for India, there would be NO TASSA IN TRINIDAD. Tassa, bass and jhaal are Indian instruments, they NEVER originated from the caribbean. You ignorant fool. Think before you post, I promise you can't do any better than these guys!

  • dey prolly hav d tassa instrument buhh dey not playin wat we west indians call tassa.. an who tell u dat it never originated from the caribbean?? they use a different type of drumm... west indians changed it.... kno ur info b4 u start respondin....

  • Once again you posted another IGNORANT comment. You obviously don't know ANYTHING about tassa, its history, where the hands originated, etc. I am a tassa drummer and me and my group have extensively researched tassa and its improvisation from India to Trinidad. My group leader has even gone to India from Trini and played alongside w/ drummers there. There are over 30 tassa hands played in Trinidad and only a few of them are considered indegenous to Trinidad. This clipping that you (contd.)

  • are watching is tassa drumming in Pune, Maharashtra (India), the festival is for Ganesh, and there are special hands and styles that are played for this festival (just like Hosay in Trinidad). Tassa is played all over India, and Indians from the Caribbean have backgrounds from all over India, so all the various hands were brought to Trinidad from different parts of India. All wedding hands and hosay hands are played the same way in Trinidad and India, trust me. For u to (contd.)

  • to make a comment and say to "stop playing tassa"? That proves what kind of miniscule mickey mouse uneducated world you are living in. For these drummers in the video, tassa has a religous and cultural significance, not just something to "wine" down to. You my friend need to "know" your info before you even start to respond! Are you from trini? do u even play drum?

  • i am a tamil parai melam drummer

i personally respect drumming culture of all brown skinned people, punjabi dhol, tamil urumi melam, parai drumming, west indian tassa

these drums do originate from the indian subcontinent tho, as do you, you shouldn't forget that

ontop of that, i do respect west indians evolving our war like drums into a festive cheerful drums.

plus points can go east and west, no need to get angry or hate

  • hey people can u tell why is that orange flag used in this in such manner and what does it stand for?????

  • Well this music is a cultural art of Maharashtra state which is in India....

This music is dedicated to Lord Ganesh the elephant headed god.

Well Orange is a colour of Hinduism & that's a holy flag of Hindus.

  • This year, three teams viz. Garware, Swaroop Vardhini and Samartha pratishthan set up separate teams for the competition and practised in secrecy. Can you imagine Dhol Tashe on the beats of Rock music? All three did it this year. Sadly Zee had to edit it out.

  • This event takes place on approx. 2nd to 4th day of Ganesh Festival in Pune. Last two years, it was held on New English School, Tilak Road Ground. We have yet not finalised on the venue for this year. Last year, it was a three city competition. Mumbai, Nasik and of course Pune. They styles and taals are absolutely different in every town.
