@ coyote...agreed but my first show was hartford 86 so i was late gettin on board...decided to move to CA during the estimated @ meadowlands 4.1.88; and youre right about the supercharged east coast energy- they cheered tempo changes in Minglewood! hahaha 6 months later my buddy and i took the grey dog from CT, "to live the life i should"...still out here after all these yrs. oh and shoreline 89... 6.19.89 was the hands down best show i ever saw (~200)
hey man i wish i had the rest on video...it was my first run of dead shows in CA...moved to the Cruz in Oct.88. we waited in line all day and scored first row of seats off the floor next to the stage by phils stack (ears rang for 2 days)...and the puddles were deeep ....shakedown street all night w/camping...my buddy and I sat on the coliseum steps at sunrise... thinking the CA move was a good one :)
@SomethingInTheButter I agree with you bro but you shoulda come out to santa cruz about 10 years earlier when the band still had a ton of energy left in them. Nothing like catching garcia's band about every other weekend when the dead were not on the road. Where was home before you made the west coast jump? But i still stand by my statement of the band played much better shows on the east coast. West coast heads were more laidback but the energy was back east.PEACE.
Do you have the rest of this show? If so do you plan on putting it up here? These cat's were digging this from it from the beginning of " Let the good times roll" We also had great seats about 20 rows up on phil's side and just far enough out to see everyone on stage. The puddle's were deep this night.
This was the last really good new years show's . I have found thru out the years when somebody show's up to play with these guy's most of the time it turns in to some pretty cool music and this night is no exception. When clarence steps out from behind jerry's stack things start get high. This was the first time clarence played and it sounded like he was here from the start.Check out how garcia gets off on his new buddy. When clarence played at shoreline in '89 that was the last great GD show.
