Its almost like this special has schizophrenia or has split personalities. Half the show wants to be a comedy and the other half wants to be a sci-fi show. Obviously the producers couldn't get on the same page and did both ideas, resulting in not just a bad show, but one of the stangest things ever shown on TV.

I think it was this programme that made Lucas realize you cannot take the usual network method/ work ethic and apply it to the star wars way of doing things. From a friend who was an animator within Lucasfilm, their work ethic therefore is VASTLY different from the overwhelming majority of corporations. In a sense, without this, tasteless as it is, 'Empire and 'Jedi might never have been the overwhelming successes they were: SOME good came out of it, lessons learned after all...
