Yeah 2006 and Regulation A are WAY Better. But really the only thing that killed this was Sony America's choice to dub this with people off the street.

.... I have mixed feelings about the MI series... they have made me realise that KOF plays better as a one on one fighter but I don't like the gameplay of the first one.... (I like the play of the second but I don't like the way they look... Especially Ryo's mullet and Leona's creepy expression... that and Clark looks like a nerd in MI2.)

I just got this from CEX for a mere £2.50! Price kinda reflects how underrated it is as you say. The 2D games all fetch higher prices. Have to admit, I do prefer the 2D versions. There's something timeless about really well done 2D animated characters. Nice vid as usual mate ;-)

The sequel, however, rocks the house. Regulation A even more if you come from MI2's competitive scene, and even then, it's still a must play.

It just has less content, but hey, it has MAKOTO MIZOGUCHI.

The only thing I like about this game over the sequels is that it doesnt force the ridiculously gay Falcoon alt outfits onto you.

Also K's character model looks better in this one and Kyo's got his 99' outfit which is better than that pos default outfit he's got in MI2

You apparently haven't played a PS1 in a long time if you think these graphics are even comparible.

Furthermore, who cares about graphics? By that reasoning, every Mario game ever created except for maybe Galaxy is crap, because their graphics aren't pretty anymore.

However, their gameplay is just as fun as ever, and that's all that really matters.

@teh2Dgamer graphics do matter when those games where made those graphics where considered good back then in that time PS2 and PS1 won the system wars on apart of them having good graphics and having CD technology which let them have better graphics.

@opp861 No, when this game was made, it's graphics were average at best. As for the PS1 having better graphics, that's totally reliant on the technology. FMV sequences aren't really a part of the gameplay graphics. The N64 was a lot more powerful than the PS1, however it had bottlenecks in the hardware itself that made it hard to develop for. Either way I've never bought games to look at them. It's game play that keeps you coming back for more, not graphics.

Okay, English voice acting in this game is just sad.

Please, turn Japanese on next time (If avaliable in your version, I know it is in PAL). That's at least slightly bearable to listen to.

Besides that, a great game. 2D gameplay with 3D graphics, mostly (Although, at rare occasions, you do manage to avoid hits by moving sideways).

I really recommend the second game, as it has a ton more characters. The cool optional accessories for costumes are gone, but thankfully, more costumes in total.

You really have to give SNK-Playmore credit for doing such a great job in keeping the 2D gameplay intact while adding a slight 3D touch to it and giving it 3D graphics.

I'm a huge SNK fan myself. They got me back into 2D fighters.

I decided to take a chance on a $10 PS1 game The King of Fighters '99, and I was sucked back into 2D fighters because of that game. Previously, the last 2D fighter I got into was Super Street Fighter on the Genesis.

Other than that I was a 3D fighter only fan, because I couldn't get back into 2D fighters. Not anymore though.
