Are you serious? An 11 minute video where most of it wasn't anything to do with lightning, just you creating your text in Illustrator then texturing it. All you did for lighting was use Ringlight from Greyscale gorilla, and use his softbox aswell and just moved it a little... wow, im amazed lmao

well im not gonna bitch about the tutorial, just want to let you know that you should probably learn how to light stuff in real life cuz then you would know that your light set up isnt really working.

turn on global illumination and ambient occlusion in the render settings

Sick! For everyone saying it looks flat, try making an empty scene, only text, no reflections and no rotation, just a head on camera and some lights. Use the same light setup, but this time add a floor, whoaaaa, see that difference?

@polygoniix Depends what your going for really. Softboxes for me are only to provide reflections when I'm not using a HDR image for reflections, they also give 'Real' specular instead of the fake one that the materials provide. But yeah real lights are always essential they make things much nicer.

500 Likes o_O? - I scrubbed through the video was pretty good but at the end the text looked a bit flat, the edges were not highlighted very much and the side, very dark. Good for having a go though :)
