Sorry, folks; but I never did 'get' the magic that was supposed to emanate from Kensington Market. Disagree with me all you want, but I think they were, are, the most overrated of all classic Canadian rock groups.Give me The Collectors, Three's A Crowd, or even The Guess Who any day.
@jannyrcobs Here you go again, I have to wonder did you ever get to Yorkville, did you ever go down to City Hall and sit in the grass when Kensington Market played before thousands, I guess not, and I guess you're not from the east at all. But to set the record straight, all these groups were unique in their own way and to try and disparage bands that were trying to find their own creative identity in a time of change in music is not only silly, but a feeble attempt at relevancy.
@awoosoul Okay, okay--I was probably a bit harsh in my put-down of The Market. Agreed. I think it was something like 4 in the morning when I made those comments, so no doubt my opinions were fueled and flavoured by alcohol. I should have also pointed out that I think Kensington Market were ten times better than 90% of the 'mewsick' I hear coming out of radios and horrid car stereos today. I just don't think they were in quite the same category as those others I mentioned. (Rob in NL)
this was their only real "hit" - it got alot of radio play in TO but I think the band melted in a hippie haze of drugs after their next album
