seriously, who cares about the guitar skills? If anyone is interesting in a pure guitar demonstration, visit a circus or a concert of Satriani...I prefer a good melody well sung
It really helps to understand the song prior to seeing this performance. In anticipation of what he does in the studio, you can't prepare yourself adequately for what he does here live. This is an absolutely stunning performance because he takes a remarkable studio recording FAR above that bar.
To call this a powerful performance feels empty. He's a man possessed and, for a few minutes here, an instrument of God.
@bendbadgersteve It is impossible to put into words. Is it not? Unprecedented, ever. I will sit and rewind the end of this song when he is flying vocally and each and every time I am completely and utterly blown away. No words, just Genius.
@NovaScotiaChick He is amazing. PS: Tim's "Dream Letter: Live In London" is probably my favorite album of all time, as is Jeff's entire catalog; if that makes any sense. Sincerely, fellow member of "Team Buckley".
What is still very underrated about JB is what a great guitarist he was. One of his biggest admirers was Jimmy Page. Page said Jeff was one of the finest guitar payers he had ever scene. He want to see JB live just to see what kind of tricks he used with backing tracks and such. He left the show blown away, and as he said, a little jealous at how good Jeff was.
@coachhiggs true, if Jimmy Page is jealous of your talent then wow, that says a lot! But his voice is what does it for me, it complements the complexity of his guitar playing, to be able to do both at the same time is a rare talent indeed.
@coachhiggs Oh, and here's an interesting behind-the-scenes tidbit...I was talking to one of the guys who was involved in the recording of Grace and he said the record label wanted to bring in another guitarist to do Jeff's parts! They obviously changed their minds but isn't that wild?
A lot of good Music or Voices are liked because of their not flawless characteristics (maybe Dylan or Neil Young). This is a real demonstration that perfect music can be perfect, too.
Unfortunately we all die young no matter what the age. I agree though what he could cave accomplished with another few years. Beautiful singer and even better song writer (and no I am not a goth)
I don't know how to explain it, but this with Nirvana and others close in style from this period I found fucking romantic in a way. The original way ?
From about 4:51 on, like...my god...that's just fucking obscene...and it's not even like the stuff he plays is simple, I haven't really tried this one yet, I can play "Dream Brother" and "Lover, you should have come over" and they're tough enough just on the guitar never mind holding a scream like that.
Jeff !!! Oh Jeff !!!!! Vous tous ces commentaires je crois qu'on peut dire que tu nous manques à tous.......................

@mangosnake check out Come Here Woman by his dad Tim Buckley--I just viewed it and one of the comments pointed it out--I don't know if that song was recorded by Tim-I've read that his albums were available to Jeff-or if it is a genetic artistic ability or both--whatever, it is amazing!
Wow, wow, and wow. I simply cannot summarize his talent or what his music means to me. So, so sad that he is no longer with us. He was so, so GRACEFUL.
'I'm not afraid to die' he sings, sometimes I wonder what beautiful music we are missing if he was still amongst us, now we have to cherish the music he left behind. RIP Jeff, I miss you...
Man, I started to listen to Jeff Buckley a few weeks ago, but already love him, I love his songs and everything he does (or did =/), he has one of the most beautiful voices I know, he plays the guitar very well and so on...
But I know an amazing live perfomance by a rock singer, listen to Silverchair and you'll see... listen "Silverchair Live From Faraway Stables" , listen speacially the song "Asylum" wich Daniel Johns plays at the piano, it's just amazing! give it a try ;]
5:11 : He just touched the Grace , God this man is my Lord, my God, the best singer ! Im a huge fan of him and Sketches for My sweetheart the drunk is so beautiful
do not let that twilight idiot play jeff in a movie, do they want to distroy jeffs image, everyone should come together and go against robert, james franco, or no bio pic
Jeff was something else, but I don't understand the phenomenon that surrounds dead artists, where people say, "If only he was alive, music would be better." I doubt that. He would certainly still have HIS music, which would be excellent, but you can't fashion any more gems in the world than are already there.
In my opinion, this is his best performance live w/ an electric guitar, but you should listen to his acoustic version on WHFS radio. His high notes at the end are even more rapid than the studio version.
@ehipeao Because those people haven't actually tried to sing this song themselves and see how ridiculously impossible this song is to sing even for a talented singer. My two cents.
Still unbelievable - at first I was thinking I'd love to have this on dvd or some other Hi-Fi medium, but it isn't really necessary, in fact it might be lethal to hear/see this performance more clearly. Absolutely, profoundly perfect in all of the right ways.
nah it's called pulling from the soul. Singers need to embrace themselves and use it all or else the music is pointless. If a pianist/violinist/ guitarist/etc is allowed to utilize every note on their respective instrument, I don't see why a vocalist should be damned for doing the same. This is what Bach and Beethoven did. This is what Miles and Django did. This is what Nina and Edith did.
His music, his art, his voice goes in through your ears, deep down into your heart and from there reaches somewhere sacred, where your soul sleeps and wakens it right up, connects, and then your'e caught, you've learned something, I don't know what it is, I just know that it wants to be heard, felt, needed somehow, like rain to the earth, he answers some strange call inside me, thanks for upload
@hannah4440 beautifully said.....I myself, as crazy as it might sound, had a sort of spiritual awakening upon hearing Jeff Buckley's music for the first time.....in essence it's made me a better man.
I was a teenager in the nineties, and I enjoyed "Nulle Part Ailleurs" (Nowhere Else).I have to thanks Canal + even if I don't like T.V.They brought us so many things: NPA and its lives (just write npa live on internet and you'll see...), The Simpsons, South Park, and even porn, lol.Excuse my english.
Je voudrais mettre le son à son maximum, péter les vitres tant c'est fort, péter mes tympans aussi, pour vivre ce magnifique cri de Jeff à 4:51 avec intensité.
Jeff had the most beautiful voice in the history of music... He was an angel with an incredible passion for music, he was truly talented and if he only had more time music these days would definitely be better. That scream at the end.... Speechless!!!! We miss you Jeff RIP
@denush16 yeah, that's so true. it's sad to see that some people don't have an idea of who jeff buckley is. however, i'm happy because of the existence of people like you that know the fucking truth. the truth about jeff buckley's voice, the best and most fascinating voice until now.
My god...I've seen this some dozen times now and EVERY SINGLE time, right around 4:50 when he kicks into that brutal scream I always feel like I literally can't sit still, like I'm tensed up and holding my breath at the edge of my seat...after I always have to check myself and remind myself to start breathing again...what a bloody artist...
Ah, we meet again, sire! It seems great singers attract us alike. ;) Yes, yes, yes to all that you said. Jeff Buckley is one of my absolute favourite singers and a brilliant songwriter with so much promise, what a shame!
He's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever...

Mais les voisins ne vont pas aimer !

"Nulle part ailleurs" is the best French TV show ever. It means "nothing's better out of here" (in France). And Jeff Buckley is a monster, a lion.
