  • John Frusciante :)

Driving to eat a Carvel cake...

  • Tom Carvel* f'in autocorrect

  • Thomas Carved handed ice cream to my dad.

  • I Saw It During The People's Court On WNBC 4 On June 8,2004 at 4:09 pm

  • I WANT A COOKIE PUSSSS

  • ever notice how you turn this cake pan around and it's the Santa Carvel cake?

  • omg i tried one of these cakes and it was HORRIBLE the "frosting" tasted like play-dough. i'm not making this up 0_o the ice cream in the middle was okay though

  • @CrystalWolves978 I doubt that you tried THESE cakes. Carvel was a local/small chain in greater New York area, and the cakes were delicious. Not the same today.

  • @hultonclint They were bigger than just the NY area. We had them in Mass when these commercials aired.

  • @elithecat Yeah of course (I was in northern CT). Was keeping it simple for someone who obviously is from nowhere near there, to get the point that it was a local thing. Based in White Plains sorta area of NY, and radiating from there. I'ved tried a Fudgie in Cali a few years ago, and it was nothing compared. For Cali people, NY-CT-MA = same thing :)

  • @CrystalWolves978 Another 'reverse endorsement' for transnational corporations owning local businesses.

Once the standard of quality goes down the tubes, it's a disaster.

Multi-million dollar conglomerates just want to make the maximum profit for the lowest cost, bottom line.

Old Tom C knew the tendency was to let quality slip so dealers could make more, which was why he kept everything under his control. He knew the deal and didn't want his name on a lousy product headed down the tubes.

  • whale= fat. to a whale of a dad = to my fat dad. XD

  • Oh shit, this is creepy...

  • LOL. I remember me and my friend use to make fun of this commercial. Memories.

  • "to a whale of a dad"? ..calling him fat? LOL

  • lol love how they call it "carvel dealer"

  • Where's the lime flavored JFK cake? Hahahah I love Patton Oswalt.

  • 1 Dollar off....

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

  • Aww this is sweet.

  • i think id be a bit offended if my son gave me a cake that said "to a WHALE OF A DAD"

  • Flying Saucers...MMMmmmmmmm

Tom Carvel believed in his product, 100%. He wasn't a plastic, rehearsed, polished, faux-sarcastic eunuch, which is all most of you've ever seen on TV. He knew more about "effective advertising" than all of the degree laden marketing majors will for the next 1000 years. The stores were really consistently good, for a chain type operation, they're still around today.

  • Makes me glad to see that so many people have heard the Patton Oswalt "Tom Carvel" bit. If you listen to it, wait until your kids are out of earshot because it's extremely profane - wouldn't want your kids to come in and hear it. They might have a few questions: "Mommy (or Daddy)? Why is Remy the Rat swearing? And who's Paddy O'Cripply?"

  • @elc1960: "You couldn't cut those things w/a fucking LIGHTSABER!!" LOL!!

  • @TheLegendfamily You again? LOL - just kidding. Good to meet another Patton fan. Remy the Rat rules!

  • @elc1960: "Open wide, Abigail May, 'cause here comes the gravy pipe!!" ;D Did you catch the re-showing of "Nothing To Complain About", mate?

  • @TheLegendfamily Nope. Didn't know about it. I'll look for it again. Thanks for the info!

  • @elc1960: You are quite welcome; they're also replaying "My Weakness Is Strong" as well. This is all on Com. Central, mind you.

  • Tom Carvel, what a cheap bastard!

  • That whale called that kids dad fat.

HES A WHALE OF A DAD

  • Was Fudgie a Hump Back or Beluga whale?

  • @clr855 neither he is an ice cream cake.

  • There was a hilarious comedian who poke fun at these commercials, and the creator's voice. Who was that comedian? He was funny all around however I can't remember his name to save me.

  • @vjm3 Patton Oswalt.

  • @vjm3 Patton Oswalt. Listening to him as I type this.

  • The "boy" in the video is me...I thought I had succesfully destroyed all copies of this video...where did you get this from??? and i'm not special needs btw lol

  • @darena917 Let me know your name so I can add it to the keywords. Also any good stories about the filming?

  • @darena917 ....Prove it? Sounds like something anyone could say.

  • @darena917 omagosh nooh wayy dood yur dads a whalleee

  • @darena917 I'm sure Carvel had tapes of these commercials as well

  • @darena917 What a great little 'blast from the past'! All good clean fun, a kid giving his pop an ice cream. No fake sarcasm, no crap..I always saw the kid throwing his Dad a lifeboat with ice cream fishes and love. from Fudgie the Whale. What a fun/non-slick time. Mr. Tom (C) was a real unpolished gem, no b.s., a workaholic.who knew more about effective advertising than all of the master's degrees in marketing did in the last 100 years. Totally genuine guy who believed in his product.

  • *Sarcasm* Yea thats a great gift -_-

  • lmao to a whale of a dad. what is someone trying to say their dad is fat lol.

  • This kid is the worst singer.

  • his voice is creepy

  • bulletproofy goodness

  • ya know what'd be a great halloween costume? fudgie as a sexy geisha.

  • classic i miss simple time

  • it never came with the sea ice cream

  • i'd forgotten all about Fudgie the Whale until he made an "appearance" during an episode of "The Office"

  • terrifying... whats shirpentine anyway?

  • It's shirts & ties.

  • old school!

  • really weird, is it me or does that kid look hideous...ii dunno, maybe someone thinks he's cute

  • Tom Carvel did the voice on the original. The whale cake was also the same as the tie cake IIRC...

  • THAT SHIT WAS DUMB LOL

  • It's a lot than that stupid Baskin Robbins commercial.

  • learn to talk right not like a 2 year old

  • wow reminds me of homer and marges wedding cake

"to a whale of a wife"

  • I'm Just Crackin the **** up! Partially because I knew I was goin to trip off of this shit!

  • For some reason, these Carvel commercials bring out the schizo in me. In this one he almost sounds sarcastic, at 0:19, even though he couldn't possibly be. (Could he??) I've seen another Carvel commercial in which he's laughing as if he's drunk. That couldn't be possible.

    ((shaking head))

  • doesn't this sound like that song in "A Charlie Brown Christmas??

  • How cute

  • 0:31 LMAO!

  • Correction: "Seriously now,"

    (last post)

  • At :16 to :18 -- Sorry, but (the late) Mr. Carvel always sounded like he was spitting all over the ice cream when he spoke on his company's ads. Made me wanna switch to Friendly's (LOL) !

Seroiusly now, I sorely miss the Carvel Ice Cream shops. Fortunately they made the transition to supermarket sales!

  • hahahahahahahaha...you're right.

  • hahah whale of a dad

was that woman at the end the crazy christian woman from wife swap? my lord she is scary..

  • They used to turn the whale cakes sideways to make a rather messed-up looking Santa.

  • Ummmmmmm!

  • fudgy like dadday's underpants! BTW Is the kid special needs?

  • The only good part of this movie is the tag at the end

  • "Tommy Carvel here! Ha! We have Cookie Puss dolls!"

  • Comment removed

  • i remember all those carvel commercials!!! they had gooooooood ice cream!!!

  • Best. Commercial. EVER.

  • hahahaa... that thing weighs 54 oz it says.... thats like 4 and a half pounds... and the fuckin kid singin is creepy to... sounds like his voice was altered... the nightmares of the 80's... this shit would come on between my cartoons as a kid i remember this shit like it was yesterday

  • Your dad will be a whale once he finishes that Fudgi--WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!?
