Yes, the horns are having some trouble! But this is a period instrument orchestra. In otherwords, the horns don't have valves. Of course, that's not an excuse, just an explanation.
Hi! I confirm it was the same production: I went to La Scala last night to listen Alcina.. Wonderful!! I've no words to describe my feelings during this great Handel's opera. And I liked Carsen's work, very fine, even if someone blamed him... Bye!!!
Thanks for posting this! Having other clips from this production but not Graham's rendition of this aria had been tormenting me for months. There are many great mezzo-sopranos singing right now - more, it seems, than in any other voice type - and Graham is certainly one of the top ten. I love her ornaments at 4:00.
