  • BTW: who are the 2 first senseis to perfom throws in the extracts 1+2 and 3?

    thanks

  • ...but I find those are essential to any more "open" discipline or mixed disciplines, not to be ignored. (2/2)

  • Usually i don't like judo videos or judo on itself, since I can't accept that a guy who gives his back during/after a throw wins the fight by that, but i really like your video.

Transitions from old school videos, to demos, to judo championships to applications of judo in mma context is really a simple yet very nice presentation :)

Please to all, don't get me wrong,i am NOT dissing judo, it's just that like english boxing,I don't like the discipline on itself, since it's to restricted...(1/2)

  • @laokon What you're forgetting is that uke doesn't just roll over and go on the attack after being thrown. Even on padding, those throws hurt. Helio Gracie admits to Kimura knocking him out with that throw in the first few minutes of their fight, but Kimura allowed him to recover only to them snap his arm like a twig later. On the street, on pavement, asphalt, those throws will break a bone, dislocate a joint, knock you out. As for "too restricted," check out the "Kosen" Judo tournaments.

  • @BloodofPatriots sorry, most throws don't hurt on tatami(different story on concrete though) but i have seldom been hurt after a throw and i'm not the best ukemi master, far from it :p

btw: thanks for replying, made me remember to rewatch this awesome video :D

    Regards

  • @laokon All throws hurt, depends on the tori -- whether or not he's letting up just before the throw is completed. In competition, practice and randori it's considered "gentlemanly" for tori to pull back just before the slam. I suspect your training partners have been pulling back instead of slamming you. If you look at the video of gracie and kimura, you'll seekimura did not pull back and you'll also see helio gracie go limp as a result of throws even though the mat was heavily padded.

  • I dunno why fedor was randomly in this loads but only two of his take downs were shown. This shows how effective grappling sports are against regular MMA fighters.

  • I met Mifune at the Kodokan in 1960. He was a very nice old man. Very humble and polite and then the only living 10th dan.

  • wtf dude , at 1:00 theres something really serious happening . o.O havent seen this kancetsu waza before.

  • judo is the best sport.so effective.if you want to drop someone then you got to use one of the many take downs only judo uses.you can drop anyone.you imagine if it was a real fight and you drop someone on a concrete ground.it could be all over.

hopefully with not too much damage to the opponent.but i dont think he will want to fight any more.

  • beliefe me.. if you want throw someone on the ground, use JUDO!!!! notting else..

  • So beautiful

  • What is the first song?

  • The song is Galvanize by Chemical Brothers.

  • what throw was @ 0:45?

  • I don't know the name of the throw, but I believe it's Yoko... possibly a variation of Yoko Wakari.

  • hmm. in not japanese terms it probably will go as flying juji gatame

  • i think yoko wakare too.

  • @dohon I believe it is Ude Gaeshi

  • " J U D O " ** ROCKS ** There's no way around it with " The Gentle Way "....you get: Cardio, defense, flexibility, super-balance, respect.... "Strength", Science, Momentum... you f**cking name it..... P.S Confidence!!!

  • I agree! Judo is more than just a martial art its a way of life!

  • judo rocks

  • JUDO SUCKS?
