I once heard Silverstein destroy a complete Guarnari Quartet performance of Beethoven quartets. My take is there is no guarantee anyone (except Heifetz) can be perfect all the time. This in no way takes away from Perlman's greatness, it just proves that he, like all of us, is human. Imagine the pressure to play thousands of concerts over a lifetime with never playing out of tune.

The funny thing is, whoever recorded the audio for this is probably a pretty good violin player in reality. You have to be pretty comfortable with a piece to play it so poorly that well...if you know what I mean.

The timing is perfect and it's obviously NEAR to the right notes. So whoever did this, I'm guessing, can actually play it properly.

Okay I love Perlman, but this is simply not good. Yes yes, 99% of the time he's the best violinist out there, but there is not much good here at all. When a great performer is juggling himself, it can be very funny (there is a famous parody that Heifetz made of some students who played for a hearing), but when an other person change the sound of a unconscious performer it’s pure vandalism, the same thing if someone wanted to change a Botticelli's Primavera or any other work of art with the spray, I do not laugh, to me it seems bad taste.
