My dog Riley does that whenever anyone knocks on the door-has since the first day he came home. He's VERY protective too- my sis took him to her bf's house, and her bf was being stupid and wanted to "assert his dominance" over Riley, so he pinned my sis against the wall(playfully) and Riley flipped-almost bit his junk off.But at the same time, will let ppl walk right in(barks before he sees them) dont know how he'd be if he didn't know them though. btw- He's a pit bull and an oversized lapdog :)

@roxybeech There wouldn't be a kid at my door at 10 o'clock at night (when this video was filmed). As for my neighbors, I live next door to a nut house, filled with crazy crack headed child molesters! I didn't appreciate my 'crazy' neighbors gawking into my windows at my daughter & I in the middle of the night! Just another reason for Doberman protection! Awesome dog....I bet you sleep a lot better knowing she's there. This breed is amazing, I dont like anything else. Love them. I had one, but was 80% Dobie and 20% Rott, had him for 8 years. That dog would give his life for me, I loved him like a child. I used to take long trips and stop at a rest area for a quick nap in the back seat while he would jump to the front and guard my sleep. Any noise and he'd let me know quietly. I miss him so much. I NEED another one again, gotta have one.

@PornFlakes21 ...Big dreams!!! Even dogs "bred" for protection need extensive training to take on serious threats, and w/ the dogs that do receive the right training, very few of them even have what it takes. 1 out of 10 properly trained dogs would I put mine or my families safety on.
@MrKp5259 No they don't. If any dog needs to, they will protect their owner. It may not be near as good as an extensively trained dog, but they definantly will. /watch?v=lMeKGeu81fw , /watch?v=12oB9FDKH3Y . There are many more videos, but i'll let you find them...
@katykelly100 ....Many videos of what? More of her dog just barking at nonsense? Wtf is that gonna prove? Unless u got videos of this dog doing protection work(not saying it couldn't) ur comment is useless.

@dmrvf Wrong training?? That's what the dog was bread to do. I see nothing wrong with this. Humans have been using dogs as protection since the beginning of man kind. I love my Dobe :)
@gerryjtierney go cry animal abuse to people who actually mistreat aniamls. Donate a dollar to PETA instead of commenting videos on youtube about a procedure you know nothing about. By the way are you circumcised? You can thank your educated parents for choosing a medical procedure that positively benefits you in many ways.
@PornFlakes21 Wow, way to jump the gun and claim gerry claimed animal abuse. Did he say that? No, he called it barbaric, which it is. see the difference? A pointless surgery, risking infection and pointless exposure to medicines simply for human atheistic pleasure. But hay, you're an American. You guys rip apart cat's paws and dog's vocal cords.
Enjoy your ignorance, love a vet who'd sooner be out of a job then do this pointless, undeeded shit.
@WalkingDoodle Please take note at 0:03 the side of my couch. It's TORE the fuck up, by my cats :o) Claws are still intact you whiny tree hugging sissy bitch.
@WalkingDoodle Uhm... I think you should read up on the subject a bit more before you say these things. It's not cosmetic; docking ears is very helpful to the pup's hearing and also prevents inner ear infections from happening as frequently. Docking a tail saves the pup from breaking it, which often happens with these types of breeds because they smack walls and doors and such. I'd rather do a simple, safe procedure than have to watch my dog suffer from constant pain.
@4k1m1 Oh my gosh how right you are...at least about the tails. I don't know much about the ears. I have a doberman and I didn't get her ears or tail cropped. Now, it's too late and she's too old, but I'm wondering how many bruises I can handle all over my legs and when she's going to break her tail from slamming it against the wall. She's knocked over small children! Can't help it though since I don't want to punish her for wagging her tail, that's silly.
Its OK to crop the Dobermann's ears and tails (in addition to their "dew claws").
The pain is temporary and they more likely than not don't remember it.
Additionally, local anesthetic is given as well as pain / anti-infection medication to stave off any discomfort or chances for the ears to become infected.
Additionally, Dobes are not the only canine to have docked tails and ears.
Maybe you should go and voice your opinions on other YT videos featuring those breeds as well.
Was she trained to protect or is this just how she reacted out of instinct? I have a 11 month old blue dobe named Ruckus and he is a big baby .. but I often wonder if he would react like this IF he had to ... I hope so .
My dobie had his hears cropped but he always played with the bandages and that resulted in one fully-erected ear and one half-erect, his wondering face was so cute because of that =P
your gonna be a lot safer with the dog in the house. next time you hear a noise outside, its best to keep the dog with you. believe me, nobody is going to come in your house but you dont know what they got on them outside! if they kill the dog then your all alone. anyway, nice dog!
I love dobermans and pitbulls. Ahsarra, my dobie, was extremely obese compared to other dobies, Unfortunately I lost her last July due to UMHA :( RIP Ahsarra <3
It's incredibly comforting and such a peace of mind to have a doberman in the house. :) My dobe is 5 months and he's already alert and aware of things that go right over my head! If one little thing seems odd to him, he'll notify me immediately. It's SO GREAT! Love your girl, she's beautiful! And you can always rest easy, knowing she's there to protect you.
@xzdollfacexz Yes it is. I always wonder about whay everyone doesn't have one when I read about a home invasion and wonder what would have happened at MY house (Doberman and Great Dane on guard, along with 4 cats...one who is blind :-)
Such a good puppy! No really, you have a fantastic Dobie. I miss mine a lot and hope to befriend another one some day soon. One question, what is that white stuff on the ground? Looks cold. LOL Sorry I'm FROM the peoples Republic of New Jersey and by the Grace of God and the Military now live in AZ. I spent a year at Loring AFB Maine and have been through several days of -100 below zero. I do not miss that cold white stuff any more. Love that Dobie!
our doberman did the same thing! except there really was someone trying to break into our home. he saved our lives. the robber took off & never came back!
She's large for a female. I saw a Dobie in Holland once that they called a King Doberman, which I was told are bred for size. It had all the natural proportions of the Doberman, just larger (about 100-110 pounds for a male). They were so beautiful and apparently just as protective. Dobies had such a bad reputation in the 70's (probably due to behavioral issues that came about through over popularity and inbreeding). They are very great dogs, even though I don't own one. I have a GSD.
@DeadlyChinchilla Yeah, because if you have a hound dog (I have a Beagle), and they sense a smell, they'll most likely be gone. And with Husky dogs, they just run and never come back if left on an open field without a leash.
@MADDOG6400 Those would be more true, but this *isn't* a husky or beagle, however cool those dogs are too. Dobes stay with their family, they're very "people protection" oriented since thats what they were bred for. They have awesome scent detection skills too, but huskies were bred to run and hounds to track, both of which extend a lot further than the dobermans bred instincts tell it to typically go. ^_^
@MADDOG6400 Yeah, a well trained dog knows to not go past the boundaries of the home, at least that was my case for 7+ dogs in 4 different houses in both country and city environments. And before you say "oh your probably abusive" or something like that I would never be mean to my pets, the most punishment they get is a "no" or "bad dog" if they do something wrong.
great dog ,, but i have 1 question i want to get doberman so badly but all my relatives and friends they said one day he'll turn on you and he will hurt our kids is that true , I've raised GSD but never got doberman what do u think ??..x
@SuperAmo87 no a doberman that is raised with love would never to this. i live in a house with 9 other dogs and 7 other people including a 12 year old and my doberman never shos ne aggression towards anyone except my dad because he always teases her and does stupid stuff like wake her up everytime he sees her sleeping so raise your doberman right and they are better than any other dog and will protect you your family and your property with or without training.
@Amanda95129 You do realize this isn't aggression being displayed, right? Its territorial, yes, but not aggression.
I've got two dobes, plenty of "love" raising them, and they still get a little twitterpaited about the stray cats that come in the yard. Doesn't mean they're bullies or were bullied being raised. Its part of their instinct. If this were real aggression, he wouldn't look nearly as excited or happy, or return after being released.
@DeadlyChinchilla yea i was repling to the person who asked if a doberman would hurt their kids if they got one i think your dog is fine doesnt seem aggressive at all my dog acts the same way if someones at the house. srry if youthought i was referring to your dog
@SuperAmo87 No. Completely and totally false. Actually GSH are more dangerous according to statistics, and you obviously know that they are also wonderful in the right hands. My Dobe has his TDI and plays with kittens and kids with special needs.
I have a Doberman that has his tail docked and ears cropped, & when people complain to me about how cruel & unjust it is to the dog, all I have to say is I treat my dog well, he's healthy happy & whether it's cosmetic or not, it's none of your concern. Focus your negativity and criticism for people who actually abuse and hurt their dogs, & if I take it a step further which I am, dogs are animals, domesticating them in general can also be seen as abuse, now put that in your pipe and smoke it.
@fmsxx16 BRAVO!!!!! 100% AGREE with your comments. Your comments should be on every Doberman video on YT where the tree-hugging elements roam and post their nonsense.
@fmsxx16 Many dobes I have seen in rescue end up having to get their tails cropped later in life because they are all long and snake-like and get injured all the time. And those with the long ears always have ear issues (infections, etc) The cropped ears increase the hearing by over 20%, helping them to do a better job at what they do.
@fmsxx16 The way I see it, if I'm feeding the dog, taking him to the vet, taking him for walks, and showing him plenty of love, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting him docked or cropped. When done correctly, docking and cropping barely hurts.
My uncle's pups put up more of a ruckus getting their shots than they did when he used the rubber band method to dock them.
@fmsxx16 i don't have an opinion about tail docking and ear cropping, but your logic isn't very sound there. the domestication of dogs is an example of mutualism, a mutually beneficial relationship commonly found in nature between two species of animals. you can easily argue the cruelty of puppy mills, or possibly overbreeding in the case of dogs like pugs, but dogs are not wild animals, and will never have a desire to live in nature, because they have no niche there.
@somacoyote Well I'm not trying to get all technical only because I can't. I don't have enough knowledge on the the origin of the dog and mutualism, but what I do know is that dogs are said to have derived from wolves so they've been domesticated and bred to OUR liking...
@somacoyote …As far as dogs not having a niche in nature I would have to disagree. They might not have a desire, but some dogs don't have a choice. For example, dogs in third world countries; they have no choice BUT to live in the wild, and they do survive. Also there's the dingo found in Austrailia, which can be defined simply as a wild, free roaming dog.
@fmsxx16 That may be true, but it just reinforces my point that dogs are only found in the wild if they absolutely have to, so it's not really fair to compare the two. I personally see clipping and such as akin to circumcision in people; in developed countries it's mostly a cosmetic procedure as most of them aren't performed by Jewish families. I don't see either as explicit acts of cruelty by any means, though I can understand why some might.
@fmsxx16 I agree 100 %. There's JUST something about a cropped Dobie with ears erect! They just command attention. Anyone that owns one knows their true personality. BIG BABY! Both homes on either side of me have been robbed. Not me ,though. :-)
@oxShadowCatxo Mine has his ears cropped and his tail docked. He's an ACK Doberman and he had everything done when he was very small by a very experienced vet. It's not abuse when you pay $600 on medications and constant check ups.He has his own couch, he eats $56 a small bag organic dog food, I buy him boutique doggie elk antlers, take him to PetsMart and let him pick out his own toys and he sees a special vet. I've spent more on pampering him than most people spend on their own kids.
I love her bark! I have an 8mo old Dobie. They are the sweetest dogs. All he ever wants to do is cuddle and cry when you don't want to cuddle, he's an 80lb baby! But when he hears something that shouldn't be there that's how he gets also.
@Kesanwalker Only because they are made to look that way by cutting them off - it was once done to protect working dogs from ripping it off, but now it's for 'fashion'. Dobermans have naturally floppy ears and a long tail. In the UK, like declawing cats, it is considered inhumane and illegal. Numerous countries have also banned it.
Im in good OL' WI as well. Where did you get your Dobie?

Instead of reaching for the camera to film your brave Dobe, I would have suggested that you reached for either a:
1. Large calibre pistol (.45 or 10mm) with a high capacity magazine.
2. A shotgun (large pellet / buckshot preferred).
3. A baseball bat (aluminum).
4. A large hunting knife (the serrated kind).
5. A midget having a bad day (so you could throw the him at the intruder as a distraction).
OK ... I was kidding about #5. :P

@PornFlakes21 ...Big dreams!!! Even dogs "bred" for protection need extensive training to take on serious threats, and w/ the dogs that do receive the right training, very few of them even have what it takes. 1 out of 10 properly trained dogs would I put mine or my families safety on.
MrKp5259 2 weeks ago
@MrKp5259 No they don't. If any dog needs to, they will protect their owner. It may not be near as good as an extensively trained dog, but they definantly will. /watch?v=lMeKGeu81fw , /watch?v=12oB9FDKH3Y . There are many more videos, but i'll let you find them...

Why did you crop the ears? That's barbaric.
gerryjtierney 1 month ago
@gerryjtierney go cry animal abuse to people who actually mistreat aniamls. Donate a dollar to PETA instead of commenting videos on youtube about a procedure you know nothing about. By the way are you circumcised? You can thank your educated parents for choosing a medical procedure that positively benefits you in many ways.
PornFlakes21 1 month ago 34
@PornFlakes21 Stop trying to deny that that's not animal abuse. You had pointless surgery on the dog because YOU think it looks better.
bubbamittens 1 month ago
@PornFlakes21 Wow, way to jump the gun and claim gerry claimed animal abuse. Did he say that? No, he called it barbaric, which it is. see the difference? A pointless surgery, risking infection and pointless exposure to medicines simply for human atheistic pleasure. But hay, you're an American. You guys rip apart cat's paws and dog's vocal cords.
Enjoy your ignorance, love a vet who'd sooner be out of a job then do this pointless, undeeded shit.

PornFlakes21 1 month ago
@WalkingDoodle Uhm... I think you should read up on the subject a bit more before you say these things. It's not cosmetic; docking ears is very helpful to the pup's hearing and also prevents inner ear infections from happening as frequently. Docking a tail saves the pup from breaking it, which often happens with these types of breeds because they smack walls and doors and such. I'd rather do a simple, safe procedure than have to watch my dog suffer from constant pain.
4k1m1 1 month ago
@4k1m1 Oh my gosh how right you are...at least about the tails. I don't know much about the ears. I have a doberman and I didn't get her ears or tail cropped. Now, it's too late and she's too old, but I'm wondering how many bruises I can handle all over my legs and when she's going to break her tail from slamming it against the wall. She's knocked over small children! Can't help it though since I don't want to punish her for wagging her tail, that's silly.

marinesnip 4 weeks ago 2
@gerryjtierney

And people wonder why a typical Wisconsin home doesn't have yards with fences. THIS is why they should have fences!
MADDOG6400 4 months ago
@MADDOG6400 I have a fenced in yard, it's no 6 foot tall brick wall, but it's a chain link with a swing gate.
PornFlakes21 4 months ago 19
@MADDOG6400 If you live in the middle of nowhere, there's a lot less need for a fence. So long as the dog returns, of course.
DeadlyChinchilla 4 months ago
@DeadlyChinchilla Yeah, because if you have a hound dog (I have a Beagle), and they sense a smell, they'll most likely be gone. And with Husky dogs, they just run and never come back if left on an open field without a leash.
MADDOG6400 4 months ago
@MADDOG6400 Those would be more true, but this *isn't* a husky or beagle, however cool those dogs are too. Dobes stay with their family, they're very "people protection" oriented since thats what they were bred for. They have awesome scent detection skills too, but huskies were bred to run and hounds to track, both of which extend a lot further than the dobermans bred instincts tell it to typically go. ^_^
DeadlyChinchilla 4 months ago
@MADDOG6400 Yeah, a well trained dog knows to not go past the boundaries of the home, at least that was my case for 7+ dogs in 4 different houses in both country and city environments. And before you say "oh your probably abusive" or something like that I would never be mean to my pets, the most punishment they get is a "no" or "bad dog" if they do something wrong.

great dog ,, but i have 1 question i want to get doberman so badly but all my relatives and friends they said one day he'll turn on you and he will hurt our kids is that true , I've raised GSD but never got doberman what do u think ??..x
SuperAmo87 4 months ago
@SuperAmo87 no a doberman that is raised with love would never to this. i live in a house with 9 other dogs and 7 other people including a 12 year old and my doberman never shos ne aggression towards anyone except my dad because he always teases her and does stupid stuff like wake her up everytime he sees her sleeping so raise your doberman right and they are better than any other dog and will protect you your family and your property with or without training.
Amanda95129 4 months ago
@Amanda95129 You do realize this isn't aggression being displayed, right? Its territorial, yes, but not aggression.
I've got two dobes, plenty of "love" raising them, and they still get a little twitterpaited about the stray cats that come in the yard. Doesn't mean they're bullies or were bullied being raised. Its part of their instinct. If this were real aggression, he wouldn't look nearly as excited or happy, or return after being released.
DeadlyChinchilla 4 months ago
@DeadlyChinchilla yea i was repling to the person who asked if a doberman would hurt their kids if they got one i think your dog is fine doesnt seem aggressive at all my dog acts the same way if someones at the house. srry if youthought i was referring to your dog

I have a Doberman that has his tail docked and ears cropped, & when people complain to me about how cruel & unjust it is to the dog, all I have to say is I treat my dog well, he's healthy happy & whether it's cosmetic or not, it's none of your concern. Focus your negativity and criticism for people who actually abuse and hurt their dogs, & if I take it a step further which I am, dogs are animals, domesticating them in general can also be seen as abuse, now put that in your pipe and smoke it.
fmsxx16 5 months ago 42
@fmsxx16 BRAVO!!!!! 100% AGREE with your comments. Your comments should be on every Doberman video on YT where the tree-hugging elements roam and post their nonsense.
THUMBS UP to you.
LOKISlog7 3 months ago 4
@fmsxx16 Many dobes I have seen in rescue end up having to get their tails cropped later in life because they are all long and snake-like and get injured all the time. And those with the long ears always have ear issues (infections, etc) The cropped ears increase the hearing by over 20%, helping them to do a better job at what they do.
kilroywashere123 3 months ago 4
@fmsxx16 The way I see it, if I'm feeding the dog, taking him to the vet, taking him for walks, and showing him plenty of love, then there's absolutely nothing wrong with getting him docked or cropped. When done correctly, docking and cropping barely hurts.
My uncle's pups put up more of a ruckus getting their shots than they did when he used the rubber band method to dock them.
blackbriar246 3 months ago
@fmsxx16 i don't have an opinion about tail docking and ear cropping, but your logic isn't very sound there. the domestication of dogs is an example of mutualism, a mutually beneficial relationship commonly found in nature between two species of animals. you can easily argue the cruelty of puppy mills, or possibly overbreeding in the case of dogs like pugs, but dogs are not wild animals, and will never have a desire to live in nature, because they have no niche there.
somacoyote 3 months ago
@somacoyote Well I'm not trying to get all technical only because I can't. I don't have enough knowledge on the the origin of the dog and mutualism, but what I do know is that dogs are said to have derived from wolves so they've been domesticated and bred to OUR liking...
fmsxx16 3 months ago
@somacoyote …As far as dogs not having a niche in nature I would have to disagree. They might not have a desire, but some dogs don't have a choice. For example, dogs in third world countries; they have no choice BUT to live in the wild, and they do survive. Also there's the dingo found in Austrailia, which can be defined simply as a wild, free roaming dog.
fmsxx16 3 months ago
@fmsxx16 That may be true, but it just reinforces my point that dogs are only found in the wild if they absolutely have to, so it's not really fair to compare the two. I personally see clipping and such as akin to circumcision in people; in developed countries it's mostly a cosmetic procedure as most of them aren't performed by Jewish families. I don't see either as explicit acts of cruelty by any means, though I can understand why some might.
somacoyote 3 months ago
