I have it plugged in right now but will be switching it to a solar panel in spring. the fan, air pump, water pump and irrigation system only draw under 100w so it will be "off-grid" and a full self contained ecosystem. :) I will post more updates as I continue on it.
I love your geodesic dome greenhouse. You did such a great job. I am inspired to do one for myself...I just have to decide on the size. Would you say that this one was too small for you now? Or would you say to start out with one of this size? Perhaps you would suggest to just start out with a bigger one, and "grow" into it? Please give me your feedback on size and how to pick a size that would work. I'm leaning towards bigger...

We have Tilapia in ours. We also have a small indoor one that we have setup as a herb garden and we use feeder fish for that one. the indoor one works awesome for basil, oregano thyme and ones like that.
@sustainable2012 - we recycled as much as we could and made the structure from stud length 2x4's which were the cheapest that would give us our lengths. I also used the basement poly from lowes which was far cheaper than the UV coated ones available online for 3 times the price. we did multiple coats on the walls and it has held up the the sun and hail. the most expensive part of the project was the pond liner but you need one that is potable rated. please ask if you have more questions!
I am a carpenter, and I have to say I love the workmanship - I am curious, though - the beds on the perimeter of your dome - are those just dirt beds? Your grow bed seems a bit small for 1600 liters, but that would depend upon the number of fish.
Is the growth rate in the aquaponics bed noticeably faster than the dirt beds?

@tmcnabb104 - yes they are dirt beds that I had hooked up to a sprinkler system to feed water from the fish tank.
