Pacino's quote about his role in the Godfather movies: "There's a lot more of Francis in Michael than there is of ME!" Before every take, in all 3 movies, Coppola would act out how he thought Al should play the scene. Pacino said he just tried to do the best he could to imitate how Francis played the part, Pacino said that Coppola knew the character far better than he did.
The man is STILL foine! I just finished watching "You Don't Know Jack." Al Pacino has still got the "IT" factor/power as an actor.
I was awed by his looks in "Bobby Deerfield," and mesmerized by his acting prowess and booming vocality in "And Justice for All." In "The Godfather [1]," I was attracted to the steely way he portrayed Michael Corlene.
In 1972, I fell in love w/the acting ability of Al Pacino. I still love & admire Al Pacino's acting. He really freed his self. He is truly loved.
I look back at this movie and America must have been really bored to think this movie was all that ... it really was not that good, it was a violent soap opera ... the only new thing at the time that had not been tried and it floated the movie industry for another 30 years with garbage.
@themountainviewguy are you not aware that it is widely considered one of the greatest if not the greatest movie of all time? movies in the 70s were different, they dont jump right into the story from the first scene, directors took the time to build the story up, let characters develop
@themountainviewguy Wrong, I saw the all the godfathers about 2 to 3 years ago and I didn't like them, however I seen them all for the first time about 6 months ago & I can tell you it's like no other film, the whole tone of it is perfect, the acting is pure amazing, it's smart & it was definitely ahead of it's time.
I really hate this BS ... I am not wrong ...that's my opinion. You have your opinion, I don't need to call you names or question your opinions, but I will question logic and facts. By the way Silver, your English and statements are really confusing, did you saw it or seen it and when and what did you think. Why take the time to reply if you cannot communicate any better than that, you sound foolish.
pacino was brilliant as micheal corleone..relly watching the movie in the first half u think this sweet, short boy cant become don corleone n thn suddenly in the second half u think no one cud have played it better...n that wat i think exactly wat the director wanted
well why attack them? I mean yes they do make too much for basically playing dress up, but they are damn good at it. I mean you lashing out at them like this is childish, suck it up and make something of yourself and not "break their balls" on youtube
Thats postal ? HA HA if you know type of comments I leave ,this was a sissy mary comment to you ,just didn't feel like cursing a lady out ,after all I am a gentleman ?
seriously, although there are many great performances in the first godfather, pacino's performance and character arc fascinates me the most. "that's my family. it's not me." to go from that line to the last scene is startling.
@Jedisunscreen even more amazing is that he had to go back and film some parts in the beginning after they did the rest, he had some trouble going back to the first michael but still nailed it
pacino wass better than de niro at their young time...
