  • Very well done, my son. Now check out my music video called Lakota Holy Road. Wopila Tanka

  • I know how ya feel there, sir

  • this reminds of my grandpa crazy horse

  • damn, i had know idea how many people wanted to defend the native american spirit over youtube...good place for it i suppose.

  • this sounds like a war song when the singing starts

  • My earnest feeling of respect and love goes to all Native Americans, their families, descendants, extended also to the Lakota and all ancestors. I'm Cuban-born, do not recall the blood of Native Americans running through my body but that is not important. Though some of us have drifted away from our souls, we all are one with the Great Spirit and it is very sad not to honor our ancestors. I see you are proud of how they lived, and I say they smile back at you. Much can we learn from each other.

  • Love this song, @amberdavis67 Everyone has their own opinions. If you want people to respect yours, respect everyone else's, please and thankyou. Calling people savages is rude and ignorant, and to whoever called you a skank, that's a horrible word to use too. Humankind has yet to realize, whatever we do, will effect us, maybe not yet, but it will catch up to us.

  • and in the epics tell about the gods, with blond hair and blue eyes, which were probably the people and transformed into a contemporary legend with vremenem. No! blond and blue-eyed in Siberia is we are Russian, so we are former neighbors! explain or disprove my hypothesis.

  • I heard the information that Indian tribes are preserved in the description of light-haired, blue-eyed gods, wondering where the Indians are ideas about mire.ne secret that a large number of coincidences observed in the culture, ways of hunting, world view and beliefs between the Indians and Siberian peoples, and genetic studies show relationship between them, which proves that the migration of tribes from Siberia across the Strait of Berengo on the American continent,

  • i find the comments on these videos are so nice and forgiving, even when two dont agree. i like that a lot. Lakota is such a beautiful culture. does anyone know if there are any cd's or anything of Lakota music?

    <3 from the vikings!

  • cheers from Serbia

  • My grandfather was Lakota. I am honored to see that part of my heritage. As Asatru I wish I could learn more to honor the Mothers and Fathers who came before me.

  • @mrmrcritterkeeper as much as any white man alive? u mean all white people love natives? i think not

  • I know next to nothing about my heritage, but as far as I know, I am just a plain White person. The culture of all Native Americans has always fascinated me. Starting this fall at my college, I am going to be starting language classes to try and learn the Lakota language.

  • @Sakuri90 Fully one third of all Americans have Native American ancestry, and an equal number have African ancestry. Thus most Americans are more part of the American "Melting pot" than they even realize. Chances are, you have some Native American ancestry, and if not, we're all related. If not by blood than shared human spirit. Good luck learning Lakota!

  • for those of us that know who we are and where we come from its the greatest feeling to have, for those of us that are finding out who we are more and more everyday that is truly an accomplishment, be happy that we have the opportunity to do such things. remember that everything in life has a voice and a spirit, as i was taught treat others as you want to be treated, wether its a person, animal, plant, or even what u just feel like the sun, breeze, clouds, etc

  • this is very beautiful

  • nice

  • like from romania, and fuck england

  • .....the Great Spirit lives on.....in all that comes and goes...the cyclical ages of ignorance, triumphalism, sufferring....comes a time when the ego must shatter.....and all starts afresh....upon the learned lessons of the past....we must go on for Mother Earth and Father Sky....casting differrences aside....lovely posting ...thank you...xo

  • 2:45 Does anyone know who that man is? I've seen his pictures many times. He is so striking and handsome. Proving yet again that Natives are a good looking bunch!!

  • @Scarie77 That is Chief Big Foot a great Lakota chief who was killed along with many of his warriors and women and little ones at Wounded Knee

  • I am going to say this because I can. I am white and do not find anything that the whites did or do that shouldn't be punished severely for. I am proud that I am me. That I can't share life with others is sad. but I am not lonely for the people that call me theirs Knowing there are people in world that I can identify with is gift enough for me. Now I don't feel alone I feel stronger to be happy.. Thank you

defend the earth, or be her enemy

  • I have dedicated this song to my lovely doggie Pancho who passed this Tuesday he lived a long life and he was a brave little boy in so many ways. Thank you

  • the powers in washington still lie. they hate, they kill, they are not good. their fathers were not good. nothing good will come from them.ever.war, genocide, death, this is what they preach.

  • Thank you for this - wonderful

  • thanks for the healing chant, it renewed my spirit and helped my sore shoulder

  • Beautiful song! Going to the Denver Powwow tomorrow. I hope to hear more songs like this there. Pilamayaye!

  • I am not of the nations, but I have massive respect for all that chant beautifully and confidently. blessed are those that understand what is being spoken. stay well; all you nations.

  • my name is dakota, it means friend in cherokee :)

  • the sound of david white cloud burkharts flute playing is like the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard

  • I like this unlike the noise made by david burkhart

  • @amberdavis679 you're an idiot. Show some respect for natives such as us we've done nothing to you. I suppose you wouldn't know that though seeing as you don't know how to respect the TRUE Natives of this country. I'm half Cherokee and Lakota Sioux, respect our tribes, cultures, (traditions including our style of music.) and language.

  • this is worse then yoko ono

  • @amberdavis679 : Yoko was an expressionist existentialist..waaaaaay out there for most people. Maybe if you understood. These are sacred songs. It's not in the Peoples way to put too many words in personal songs, to. But the prayer songs can be memorized and passed on. For most personal songs a person makes 'happy sounds' and these sounds let their hearts guide them as one tries to describe that which is creation in all's it's unlimited beauty and wonder.

    I honour your opinion here.

  • @BrightStar5972 oh please this is nothing but yelling by wild savages, they lived like pigs in the dirt. they never did anything except butcher each other as well as white people. they made slaves out of other indian people and raped like the savages the are. the should of been wiped off the earth like the filthy dirty savages they are.

  • @amberdavis679 And who told you all this lies?

  • @amberdavis679 Amber huh? You sound like one of those typical blonde airheads who have no soul and you fuck anyone at the drop of a hat. Yet you try to pretend you have something to be proud of when it comes to your race. You and your people are the virus on this continent. Mother Nature will fix you.

  • @MrTruthAddict that's nice, just proves my point that you and people like you are just filthy animals not fit to live with. Stay in the dirt, live like the pigs you are. You have a filthy mouth. Your parents if you had any should of taught you not to use that type of language. However since you were raised by pigs and dogs I shouldn't expect anything else. Have a nice day.

  • @amberdavis679 Funny thing is, I have never lived around Native Americans, I was raised around trash like you, so I know your type very well. So I know you are the pigs who sleep with your own siblings and then have to try to look down on other people because you know you're worthless trash. Have a nice day...skank...

  • @amberdavis679 ur so much of a coward u make a fake channel to talk shit about my people lol i wonder wut u would do if i caught ur ass in real life u probably piss ur pants and faint cuz u are scared of a hostile savage from the rez u punk ass

  • @amberdavis679 What other language should they have been taught to use? Perhaps your horrible English?

"Should of" isn't a proper English phrase for anyone who paid attention since junior high school. If you are going to call people animals, you should at least educate yourself sufficiently so that you're not the animal that you are accusing others of being.

  • @amberdavis679

Lol what a joke obviously ethnocentric . For you information your Own priest molested thousand of children in residential schools and rapêd a culture of thier heritage they failed to recognize or even acknowledge a culture .(look at what you did to every culture ) greedy ppl always tryna fufill there inner void , learn your history you fool .

  • @amberdavis679 i feel sorry for you...honestly, not sarcasticly. . i just have to wonder what they did to you.....have you met every indian? no. have you lived on the rez? im guessing no from what your comments say. Indians dont live like savages, they didnt butcher anyone, and in this song they're not yelling...but singing. You seem very judgmental to me, and i have to say living your life like that is gunna be tough. I'll keep you in my prayers....try spreading love not hate.

  • @amberdavis679 Well that's not very nice. As one who bears Cherokee blood, I'd just like to remind you. The Cherokee had villages, churches, newspapers, a written language, even a standard army with uniforms and trained to use the weapons and tactics of the day. We we forced to walk the trail of tears because we were Native Americans. Not for "butchery, savagery, and rape." Hate and ignorance is the plight of mankind. Please stop spreading it.

  • just looking , white man from across the big water ,

  • When we speak of Lakota Sioux.. it's not a lesson to those that we call "Twinkies" It is a True Native dialic that comes from deep...a man n woman have different.

    Lakota Sioux Tiospaye. Rosebud ~SilkSpirit

  • amazing song great feeling when i listen to it. love native american culture

  • if you believe the world should be equal for all, then please watch this:

    youtube.com/user/KnoxChai?feature=mhum#p/f/14/EewGMBOB4Gg ♥♥

  • I'm not native but Lakota has to be one of the most awesome languages ever :)

  • See this also, put search word in YouTube "Saami Musical Tribute" the dwellings are similar to and many other things also..perhaps distant relatives

  • 'll just have to wonder how similar the language and the music sounds-> Put the search word in YouTube "Normo Jovnna" and "Lay-O-Lay Ale Loya" compare these..

  • Put the search word in YouTube "Giddat" and listen to the Angelin girls song. Sounds very similar to the Lakota songs and spirit is same kind.

The Girls of Angeli come from the village of Angeli in the municipality of Inari, one of the few purely Sámi villages in Northern Finland. The entire population of Angeli are native speakers of Sámi. They make their living mainly by reindeer husbandry.

The music is the yoik. The yoik is the Sámi way of talking and purifying oneself.

  • i love this type of dubstep...hahahaha

  • I am Yankton and Lakota Sioux and proud to be!

  • i dont know much of this language but when we are in the aneepee (my spelling sux) this kind of music brings tears to my eyes

  • this is cool I am Dakota sioux from the band of Wapakute people in Minnesota. not to many of us left though, It's cool people are finally respecting us now... just as long as they dont exploit us

  • Amazing song. I do admire all Indians, because of all terrible things, wich has happend to them, and how strong they must be. And I'm shocked seeing how ignorand and arrogant Amerikans still are thes days, and how Indians suffern in these terrible reservations.

  • I love all cultures, I rarely seen skin color. I guess that's the way I was raised.

  • beautiful... The song is powerful.... we do not own the red road and despite what has happened red, white, black peoples of this land, we are relatives and the great spirit only sees our hearts not our color of skin..... As I dance and look at the tree I see only truth and my relatives the sky, the earth, the winged ones, my brothers and sisters who have all come to dance and help all no matter. We are directed on this road to forgive ourselves, forgive others and be strong for each other....

  • @BRIANBRECTO What a beautiful thing you say!

  • beautiful... The song is powerful.... we do not own the red road and despite what has happened red, white, black peoples of this land, we are relatives and the great spirit only sees our hearts not our color of skin..... As I dance and look at the tree I see only truth and my relatives the sky, the earth, the winged ones, my brothers and sisters who have all come to dance and help the nations

  • there will come a time when this technology will fade= we will still have our drums and songs...... we were= we are and we will be.............it is destiny that our people held culture so close to our hearts........

  • This song is amazing. I must have listened to this 40 times

  • Deep down, most whites who still have a conscience know that this great Babylon we've built for ourselves is filthy. Our money is a lie, we've lost our heritage, and Deuteronomy 28:16-68 is in full progress. The Lakota tribes still hold on to their heritage. This is why there is so much interest in them today. Whites see the murder of America and are helpless to stop it.

All Indian tribes must cleanse themselves of Jews and their casinos in order to survive the collapse of America.

  • He said the Red Man are the Elder tribes and the White Men are Lost Buffalo, the tribe-less people but all belong together Then he showed me how the white men were changed by the red man. How America is not European and how our American government was built on both values but better. How a place was prepared for men to come out of the world and how the Red Man was the keeper of this place prepared. and that all men can do evil it is only a decision to be made from a spirit against your brother

  • My Bohemian Grandmothers Grandfather was Sioux we have a lot of integration in our family of many people at least 6 generations back that I am aware of. I don't look the least bit a redman and I have wondered who I am. I asked God and he said "Your flesh is of this soil and your blood is of these waters. this is who I made you"

  • White man didn't take...Men took...who happened also to be white. Anyone can take...and if their culture and religion finds an excuse to make it good to take then all of them will take.

Any person is capable of anything and thus any peoples are capable of anything.

There is no-one here alive who took from the Elder tribes and there is no-one from the Elder tribes alive here today who lost control of their country.

The land is still free...more free to those who will lead it today than before

  • I also want to say that my son is part indian. Winnebago/cheerokee and something else..(i forget) anyway...take care all!!!!!

  • I agree with cisconast and the rest of you. I dont agree with what the white man took from the indians. and yes they took it. This may come as a surprise, but I am white. My great great grandfather came to America from Denmark in 1850. I have NEVER EVER agreed with what the "whites" and everyone else took from the indians. (except from those that killed just to kill--eye for an eye) but for the rest that were a peaceful people- I honor you and your ancestors. God bless!

  • This was the American Dream. The white man actually capitalized off of what he observed of the Indians, he sold their attained bliss as a CONCEPT, A COMMERCIALIZED PERVERSION TO THIS GLORIOUS SPIRITUAL ATTAINMENT THAT WAS MORE REAL THAN YOUR COMPUTER OR YOUR GOVERNMENT(S). "...that every foot of what you proudly call America not very long ago belonged to the red man. The Great Spirit gave it to us. There was room for all His many tribes, and ALL were happy in their FREEDOM." Washakie 1804-1900

  • olowan waste'=====hoka

  • Indian´s they are only really american´s people.

Sometimes i shame be white man. we remember what white man´s doing Indian´s.

  • @MRTHEmiki66

As a Native American, I want to say that you shouldn't be ashamed, you did nothing wrong. I also want to say that this land belongs to no one. American Indians did not have a concept of land ownership, therefore, I believe we must share the land together.

  • this is magic.. putts me in a trans or somethng!! love it

  • Thank you for bringing this beautiful piece of culture to the present. It is too easy to sit back and suppose of what would have been but it is hard to puzzle out what path should be taken next. And to those propogating an old way of life I would say this, it is easy to talk of hardship as noble while living in a time of plenty , and simple to speculate on primitive man as perfect while having the luxury of time that modernization has bought. Living in the past is different from honoring it.

  • thts kuu,im a great great great grandchild of sitting bull,

  • yea i hear what mean i am a lakota teton sioux a proud descendant of Chief Little Thunder

  • i luv my culture, being a lakota sioux brings great pride to me,but seeing the movies and reading and seeing wat the white men did hurts my heart,

  • @lakotawarrior44 I am Cherokee from Osage Res, I am also proud my culture and of who I am and where I come from you speak the truth about these movies and what we read and see what the white men have done to so it pains my hurt but the thing they cant do to us is break our spirits.....Aho all my relations spiritwalker (A.K.A) NWA.....NATIVE WITH ATTITUDE

  • hi there it pleasure for me to hear a native american man, I am from russian federation and i shear that pain and sorrow you had passed letterly than, looking reloxation music i found some from you culture, things and songs tunes are wonderfull looking further i going to study lit bit your culture i've never seen befor any indian or male or femal perhopes in Los angeles hardly can see one of you guys all best to you

  • @spiritwalker30 I too am proud to be an ancestor of the Cherokee people. They will never tell the truth in any history book. Seems odd, but actually a line in a movie (Braveheart) really says it best - "History was written by those who have hanged heroes"...

  • @truesunn whats skinjins this six horses from whiteriver our old ways are the truth and also helps us lakotas realize who we are as people

  • @truesunn .....living in the uk we can only learn from what you and your fore fathers have suffered by such films which portray the white man as being the true leader but in all honesty it sickens me to see that your race pushed to one side when in truth you are the real AMERICANS and respect should be shown to such a great nation of people

  • @lakotawarrior44 Please feel good in knowing that not ALL white men and women of TODAY feel or think as those of in the past.

  • @WvMISKAvW I can only totally agree with these feelings, the white mans general history is shameful but it's not in the cycle of life for anyone to win ALL the time.

  • @lakotawarrior44 I am as well :)

  • @lakotawarrior44 ......what was done to you was done to us a 1000 years ago! we know all about missionaries and brutal soldiers. they burned our villages first! and we wont forget!!.......its sad that some Europeans came to youre lands acted like the ones who destroyed theyre own ancestors lives........look up, Charlemaigne. and learn what he did at Verdun to his own kind!

  • @lakotawarrior44 i also have sioux blood on me and i also take pride in my culture

  • @lakotawarrior44 stay strong we are Sioux and proud of it

  • @lakotawarrior44 same here brother, the white men were not welcome, they took over what was rightfully ours...

  • @soulleskill I'm with u white man took what they wanted and gave up what they did not want my heart is with you my Kola

  • @lakotawarrior44 it is a real shame I heard the Canadian Government made peace with the First Nations tribes of Canada and apoligised but the Stupid arogent American Government have yet to apploigise for the hetrositys done tho the Native US tribes what a shame I know I have native roots I do not not know how much being white but I relate More to the Native American than the Anglo American and the older I get the more I feel it I was taught Native American values at camp to respect Mother Earth

  • @lakotawarrior44 mine too.

  • @lakotawarrior44 I empathize for your hurting heart my dear native brother, my white ancestors were not in touch with the great spirit. They were blinded by their own human nature, so much so that they believed that the suffering they spread was justified. Don't hold onto the evils of the past good sir, look forward to the peace that can be spread in our future. P.L.U.R.

  • @lakotawarrior44 I love the native american culture very much and have great respect for it, im not sure if i have any native in my blood but i feel the same i hate what happend to the native americans saddens me very much and wish it did not happen. My step grandfather was half creek from alabama rip pop

  • @lakotawarrior44 hey its never to late just like everything else who knows in the future. i orginate from india. england has a large number of immigrants in england including many from asia. did you know most universities have many have asians can you see the change, now england has many hindus and some english are even converting to be a hindu, so lets just see what happens in the future.

  • @lakotawarrior44 All of the bad ever done in the world hurts my heart. I don't understand people sometimes.

  • Unique!

  • Life would be different for your people if you could go back to living you'r old traditional way's may the spirits keep all the tribes strong love and repsect to all native for the great indingious warriors u al are

  • There was a time when the Indians were seduced by the white man's toys and entertainment. But, now that the bloom is off the rose, it is clear that the white man's world is self-destructing

Unlike the white man who cannot retreat to his past because it was all myth, the Native Americans CAN reclaim their past because it was real

Reclaim the reservations from the BIA. Demand that the U.S honor its original treaties and restore the Old Ways, even if it means no more booze, TV, or microwave ovens

  • In response to some comments made by some ppl about how horrible white ppl are, let me remind you that the white ppl gave us electricity, computers, cars, better medicine, space travel, metal utensils, light bulbs, T.V.'s, Youtube, the internet, a re-introduction of the horse (which went extinct in North America at the end of the ice-age) upon which the Lakota became horse ppl, microwaves, and other forms of technology we take for granted and have ready access to.

  • uh huh... but let me ask you this.. can they open up a jar of peanut butter...

  • Yes. They can. Do you need help opening a jar of peanut butter? ^_-

  • You're missing a point. The Red Man lived in perfect harmony with nature. He loved and respected it, unlike we white people who disrespect and rape in the name of profit. They had no need for the things you noted. The inventions that steal from nature to make then polute when discarded. We white Europeans destroyed a life and cultures that would have gone on for as long as there is an earth. To our Red brothers all I can say is, I'm so sorry for what we did to your ancient culture.

  • @jssitter once again the point is there was never a need for all those things ... the 3 needs of life, food ... water ... shelter .... don't need cars or space travel or metal utensils or microwaves, nature itself by itself has always provided, all of these things that are taken for granted destroy and make many people lazier, and I hear people everyday say one cannot live without money, yet people have lived without it for many years, most wouldnt know what to do if these things were taken away

  • The key to changing the future is to get a great education so that sound decisions and actions can be made and then go into politics. Become part of Congress. Congress writes and executes the laws we all live under. Be a person for the greater good by acting not from anger or hate but from a sense of justice and fairness to all. Help change the bad laws, rewrite some laws, and create better laws that enable the People to thrive once more.

  • a better future?

  • "What can be changed and what can I do to make a better future for myself and those I love?"

A wise person once said you can't change the world until you change yourself. I personally am learning law. With this knowledge I will do all I can to do away with bad laws pertaining to Native American sovereignty and land use. I can't change the past but I am working damn hard to change the future. How about you? What are you angry people willing to do to help create

  • Blaming the whites for the politics of the day back then isn't going to make a better future or a better present.

Instead of blaming and sharing anger over something that can't be changed the question that should be asked is,

  • We can't change it. We can never go back ever. We can't change our own personal yesterdays or fix our personal mistakes. We can only learn from our mistakes. We can only exist in the present and we can hope for a better future.

  • Comment removed

  • I was reading all the comments in regards to this song and video and I couldn't help noticing how much anger still exists over events from long ago. I'm a lakota so please don't misunderstand me here and attack me mercilessly for what I wish to say about the past.

  • I think the same.

  • as a person from Ireland,I have no real connection with the Lakota and other nations, but I am as proud as hell to share the same planet as these beautiful spiritual people,my heart is with them all, they have influenced my life since I was a kid,I am deeply in your dept, thank you.
