I had posted a how-to at one time but later removed it. I should put together another sometime. Right now I'm awful busy with my work at a prairie preserve. Art is a big part of my work there but I just don't have the opportunity to explore my abstract work in this fashion during the duration.
Yes, pouring, pushing, pulling and blowing hot wax. The first three paintings actually are done that way. The fourth is done more traditionally and is mixed media.
I'm a self taught artist and I love it. I've only been painting about 5 years now and I'm just now learning all about the abstract stuff. I really love your art. It's wonderful.
You are too kind. I know there is so much more for me to learn and experience. I have found new inspiration in the natural world of late and I've been very passionate about my work. Trouble is, as I get older my hands stiffen around the brush after a only a few hours work, the medium, especially in oils, eats at my skin, eyes and lungs and I find myself experimenting with various unusual materials and methods as an alternative. It all works out.
Thanks Deb. If you could view these works up close Olfactory and Dark Olfactory would tell you immediately why I've given them their names. They were made with several unusual wax recipes that have subtle and pleasing scents. I was looking for a way to involve the viewer more than visually. They might just catch your breath after all. Thanks!
The colors and depths of your paintings are really wonderful. I love looking at a painting and having the desire to want to dive in and explore what is unseen. Your work achieves that. What a wonderful talent that you possess.
Thank you! Such a wonderful reflection. It is after all the things that are unseen that are most important in this life. It is good to know there are still a few who can appreciate a little mystery in it all. ;-)
