yeah the music fucks it up dude. I guess guys'l stop putting music over the sound of the engine. At 6 mins the music cuts off and the last 4 mins are better. just mute this video and it's good. BTW...this old boy misses the hills.
awsome video man, what kind of camera are you using? and for that what kind of mount? I'm planning on hitting up the dragon my self once i get back home from the army, hoping to get some good video of my buddy and i riding up there but regardless of that i just cant wait for the ride.

@ST1300FATHERTIME its a para twin bike. they dont have a awesome sound. Not knocking it I own one but its more for comfort but doesnt sound like a hypersport at all
318 Curves in 11 Miles. Fun riding. Had a group of over two dozen. Total blast and highly recommended. Make sure to stop at Deal's Gap and get a sticker for your helmet and rear fender to prove you were there...can't buy one online...in person only.
Beautiful video! I plan to take my 650R to the Dragon as well, so it was nice to see the same tach and speedometer to get an idea of your speed and tach. I ride the same way on twisties in upstate NY like the Hawk's Nest so it's nice to see the Dragon isn't too much different!
Cool. Where exactly is Hawk's Nest? I used to live in upstate NY. Never heard of that?? Too bad...I would have tried it out. Will look it up next time I visit.
@OnTheOpenRoad Route 97 runs along the east side of the delaware river north of port jervis.. hawks nest is abot a 5 five mile stretch with fewer curves. than the dragon..maybe more scenic but less challenging than the dragon
@paris400 just got back from the dragon.. I have ridden the hawks nest for years and its not even a warm up for the dragon or the surrounding roads in the region. route 28 and route 111 in NC were amazing, tight hairpins, high banking, rapid increase in elevation, and nothing but mountain side dropoffs over the shoulders
Good video. I too have a 650R with a camera setup, but I can only get ~4 minutes video to allow HQ, and I see you have 10 minutes. Good quality too. SO what software do you use to copy to your PC? What dimensions on the resolution? I can only get 720 X 480, and 4 minutes is my limit. I can't make it past that limit. I use ULEAD videostudio software. I use a Sony HD camcorder that does 1080i.
@OnTheOpenRoad Hes right, I live in alcoa just 10 mins away, ride a 07 cbr 1000rr, Last time i was their "labor day weekend" their was 19 cops in 11 miles......A lil overkill is you ask me, I got pulled for doin 45 on a straight away, Talked myself out of the ticket tho, But still.....Just be carefull,
I agree. Perfect for this clip I thought! This was embeded as a free clip from You Tube. Just wish I could make it loop instead of stopping at 6 min! Anyhow, it's:
I think we're going in 4 weeks. We'll pray for sun. How far away are the other highways from the dragon? Any idea how much hotels go for around there?
Jon, sorry, just seeing this message. Sorry for the delay. Hopefully you have not departed on your trip yet. If not, I would be happy to share the locations we traveled. I can create a detailed google map tracking the highways we hit coming out of the Dragon itself. Please send me a "personal message" via YouTube with info on how to contact you directly via e-mail so we can correspond outside of these posts.
Yes, I went to home depot and purchased some additional bolts and nuts. Only used one of the originals. I pulled off the tank ring, and placed a lock nut underneath it and then attached it before mounting the ring and the camera mount back on the bike. I couldn't get a solid and tight vibration free mount that I was happy with before. If you want, let me know and I can provide some pics I took when mounting it with the exact parts from Home Depot. I don't have video, but do have pics.
Thanks! I bought the ZG screen right before going on the trip for a clearer video picture. It does indeed also offer better wind protection for touring I noticed. On the down side, it detracts from the look of the bike from the stock windshield. Related to speed, it was my first time there, so I think with repeat visits that could improve. Also, we did it wet, so I think on dry pavement you could increase that too. Some curves, however, only knee draggin would speed it up! Not my cup of tea! :-)
Great video - good clarity through the ZG windscreen. I have the same bike (08, lime green) and being able to see the tach and speedo was great - I hope to visit the dragon this summer and I finally have some concept of speed - very hard to tell on most folks vids. Thanks.
Awesome. This was my first trip, and all went well. Play it safe, don't exceed your capabilities and you'll have a great time. Stay tuned here and over the next week I'll post some additional clips. There is some seriously good riding beyond just the dragon there! There are some highways in the mountains that have big "swooping" curves that you can carry good speed through, unlike the dragon. I enjoyed that just as much. Beautiful area! Keep in touch and let me know how your trip goes!
