  • The Coolest, Funkiest, Rawest Jam on the Planet!

  • and the organ player also jammed with billy preswton before hooking up with larry graham, noticde a lil billy in dere? funky funk and glad to have gone to the concerts when these guys were in there 20s. it was a golden time for the music business.

  • SHOOK-A

  • They weren't just church musicians. They were very innovative and pionneric of their timy. Larry Graham was a musician foremost, and a lover of rhythm of soul next. God Bless You, for your innovative soul, and daring to take the guitar to the next level. BRAVO!!

  • I had the pleasure of working with Graham Central Station in 1975. It was only over a weekend but a true Rock & Soul Experience. All band members were very generous. Sorry Willie 4 rolling joints on your snar drum. : ) After the gig in Long Beach, Roadied up the equipment, headed North on I-5 at 2 AM. Got stuck in the Snow in San Bernadino Mtns. w/ NO CHAINS. Had to wait for band members to bring us chains. Made it to their next gig @ Hayward High School at 10:30 PM.

    Classic!

  • Basically if your name is Stone or Stewart you BAAAAAAAD

  • DAMMMN I just found this This is may favorite song from him. Thxs for posting

  • Go search on : Larry Graham Marcus Miller - double bass performance in the best funky class without any exception!

  • I want this shit played right in the middle of my funeral...........full volume.

  • Larry has been playing this way since he was a teenager. Wow, and he thought it was temporary :)

  • this band is an all star group

  • @bobfunk11 Thanks for the info. They all are great musicians. The Jam is a classic.

  • Im going to go out on a limb here. What makes this song and others played by Graham Central Station so funky is that, they are church musicians. Yea i said it. These are church musicians. They might not be playing in church now, but they have. Other musicians reading this know im telling the truth. Go to the beginning of this song to 0:27. That ain't nothing but church. Go ahead, put those hands together. We can have church now. Listen to there solo's. That ain't nothing but the church.

  • @TheGetterdone

Larry Graham is a Jehovah'a Witness - I spoke to him about his religious affiliations after this gig ...

  • @bobfunk11

Larry Graham started out playing the bass in church b/c his mama needed a drum sound. That's where he taught himself how to play the bass.

  • @mizanna622 >One of the baddest JAMS EVER!

  • @bobfunk11

Larry Graham taught himself to play the bass because of church. He started playing the bass in church b/c his mama needed a drum type sound and they didn't have a drummer.

  • @bobfunk11

Larry Graham taught himself to play the bass b/c of church. His mama needed a drummer and all he had was the bass. Church was where he invented the slapping technique.

  • @bobfunk11 He's been a Jehovah's Witness since the 1970's

  • @bobfunk11 Graham wasn't Jehovah Witness when GCS started. This occured prior to the third album. With that said Graham to my knowledge was not a church musican but his first major group mates Sly,Freddie and Rose Stone were church musicans. It just rubbed off. But they used riffs that are used in the Black church. Alot of Funk bands did that back then.

  • @bobfunk11

Yes, I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. And I play a great guitar before I never knew the truth. Larry and Prince, well, may be more difficult for Prince, yet....he's still there. He has grown since he was baptized. Ok. he does not perform sexual explicit music he used to do? Logical, he accepted one true fact in our world, Jehovah is God, his rules for salvation and everlasting life are final. Anyone wanting to live forever just has to see what it takes to do th

  • @bobfunk11 Po[nt?

  • @TheGetterdone : AMEN!!!!

  • @TheGetterdone Yes lord and smen to that! They take you to church with this song! I remember first hearing this when I was a teenager and my boyfriend at the time loved this song! I never heard anyting so funky! Larry Graham was Sly's original bass player and he also can sing his BUTT off!

  • @TheGetterdone -Amen.

  • @TheGetterdone It's been my experience that music puts the soul in church, not the other way around.

  • There music was and is the best of the best

  • There was 336likes, and 3 dislikes. Who are those people, and how could you dislike this. This will be funky on the last day of civilization

  • SENSATIONAL OUT OF SIGHT!

  • sounds like a locomotive!

  • larry can show any body how to thumb it right on bass

  • man some seriously funky bass line

  • The pentatonic riff in the groove sounds like strange brew by cream! :)

  • @mordy91 or 'Going Down' by Freddie King.

  • @1972Muttley Yeah. I discovered this tune recently when I heard a cover of it by Robert Randalph, Joe Bonamassa and Pino Daniele on the Crossroads '10 festival dvd and noticed that too :) I really like it. You should definitely check that version out as well if you haven't already. Cheers! ;)

  • Larry i thank you for slap bass. Funkiest man around.

  • i second that

  • Why is the audio so compressed?

  • What do you mean by compressed? While it is obviously a compressed file, and exhibits the artifacts thereof (frequency band allocation), it is not dynamically compressed.

  • The Godfather of Slap Bass!!!

  • YOU DAMM SKIPPY!

  • i get chills from the distortion. It's so tight when he goes my name is Larry brown and they call me (sick ass distortion solo)

  • DUDE IT'S "MY NAME IS LARRY GRAHAM"
