  • What is your training routine for hang cleans?

  • Not gonna call him out on his form, mine is not that much better, but you get my respect, that was a hell of a lift. Good Shit

  • 1. Terrible form. 2. Why the heck is someone trying to spot a hang clean?

  • who was the guy in the back trying to fool as a spotter?

  • tipi toed lucky u didnt run som1 over with the weight

  • i dont know why you idiots complain about form on a max set

  • @superjeff299 dude using a weight belt is not a fail, olympic weight lifters use nbelts in competitions you jackass, and who cares if he got on his toes he recovered didnt he? lol internet worriors

  • why the hell are you using straps doing cleans? i'm surprised you didn't rip your arms off after you almost fell over from the weight. get some form and do some real reps.

  • Comment removed

  • maybe I should change the description now that i havent done that since 6 years ago. hahahaha. i got the weight up, bad form yes i know but i wasn't taught any better or corrected. all good tho.

  • @superjeff299 The term hang clean has nothing to do with where you catch it. Hang or from the floor just means where the starting position is. Full or Power has to do with the catching position. He did a full clean...from the hang starting position.

  • @superjeff299 a hang clean still involves a full squat, you just don't start from the floor.

  • straps... lol

  • strapped on to the bar... he almost ripped his arms cleam off his body.

  • that was really bad form... having better form could prob get even more weight on that barbell

  • man great job. your form worried me the whole way through. still man kudos

  • very impressive lift, i couldn't help but chuckle when you forgot about the straps at the end though...

  • that's impressive.

  • pretty powerful. but totally split your feet and pointed your toes wayyy out.

  • yeah stay away from protien shakes and all the other stuff, it is poisen you pay money for

  • @jusaverage Tell me how it's poison?

  • LOL! did you forget you had straps on when you dropped the weight?! that looked horrible! incredible weight btw, get back into it man

  • @MTBrFISHrLIFTr no motivation man. The judge wouldn't just let me drop it. he wanted me to let it down slowly or he wouldnt count it so that was the result. i been traveling a lot cuz of my job in the Marine Corps so i can't find a dedicated gym everywhere i go to get the proper coaching.

  • Holy shit, for 156lb that's pretty impressive. Why'd you stop?

  • ur strong as hell, but ur form is shit

  • i love the weight takes him downtooo lmaaaaooo

  • bet this guy runs a 4.4 - 4.5 forty and 30 - 40 inch vertical.

  • @Teflonrob93 at that timeI ran a 4.56 forty and my verticle was 34 inches. If I was like 5'9 the n I wouldve been able to dunk. I'll settle for 5'6 though haha. I got old and lazy so I can't do any of that anymore.

  • @revoltx Old? You are just a kid! Start lifting, NOW!

  • @revoltx hI did YOU EVER DO SNATCHES AT ALL ? JUST WOUNDERING

  • @BustersTexas only light light light weight for exercise, but nothing heavy to practice for competition.

  • @revoltx hows it goin thanks i got somthin very important i would like to ask you you have or had a 34inch vertical what were the main things you did ti get that besides doing heavy hang cleans were there any other lifts that helped you achieve that how about the squat deadlift an bench press and plyometrics i asume you did as well ? just woundering

  • @BustersTexas We had a class in high school called "conditioning" it would be a class that anyone could enroll in. they focused on squat, hang clean, and bench. we tested our 20's and 40's, agility and vertical every quarter. 3 days out of the week, each day was focused on burning out a certain lift. it was the way the workout was made by our teacher and you were the one that decides to put out or not. i did a lot of sports in high school too which adds to more training.

  • @revoltx thanks i just asked cause im the same height you are an i am 30yld the closest i have ever come to touching rim has been 1 inch away but it just will never satisfie me until i can do it but i still think for m that is getting up decent my standing reach is 7Ft i still think i have time i just ha ve to find out what works im taking your advice but im also gonna dead lift hevay im hoping the deadlift will help me out someone told me squats are more important for vertical thanks

  • @BustersTexas it does especially for standing verticals. remember though, explosion is a big part of get up so that's where the hang clean comes in. you can do Pistols (one-leg squats) also. Instead of doing regular squats where 1 leg will be stronger than the other, Pistols will make them equally strong. Also train using explosive body weight exercises like jumping over hurdles or anything.

  • might as well put 2.5 on each side...make it 300..sounds better lol

  • lol straps lol

  • That was some horrendous technique.

  • did he just explode from kneeling down then pushing from the tipy toes? how can he have a center of gravity from exploding a lift like that?

  • @fuzmik i dunno man, i wantd to just get it up to get the lift. this was 5 years ago, i corrected a lot of stuff from a proper coach now

  • How do you hang clean like that? I could never get how to do it. My bench is at 315 my shoulder press is at 185 and etc. But i cant hang clean more than 185 for shit.

  • @pbfreakmjg i guess it's technique. it's been 5 years but i can still do around 225. i havent been keeping at it though.

  • lose the straps (learn hook grip), get your elbows high, land on your heels, get a better dip, invest in some lifting shoes rather than tennis shoes. if you can manage to do all of these things, your weight will temporarily go down but once you master the form, you will be able to move A LOT more weight!

  • @Dscan0827 thanks for the constructive advice. it's been 5 years since i been actually trying to lift. i think in the next month imma start back up again but mainly olympic lifting instead of powerlifting.

  • @Dscan0827 working on it now. i have to extremely go down in weight. give me one more year and i should be back at this weight or more.

  • Nice speed. Weird form.

  • Hey why do you kids do these things? The form was terrible. Just put on less weight and use good form. That form was painful to watch.

  • @shortfatandcrass maybe it was because it was a competition and any way to get it up and have it counted was more on my mind than form???? just maybe? i dunno. that was 5 years ago.

  • @shortfatandcrass

Actually his form was pretty damn good, the only thing that YOU may think was not good was his foot placement thats why he had to take the extra step

  • @anytingbu

dude, his form was miserable! i'm not saying this to put him down, i'm saying this to discourage other ppl from practicing poor form like this! if he tightened his form up, he could move more weight and not use a cane when he's older!

  • @Dscan0827

Actually it wasnt..He had a Very good triple extension (which is the hardest part of the lift) the only trouble was the catch phase, which is very easy to correct and it looked like the straps caused a little issues during and after the lift.

  • lol i just did that for football today but i think i did it wrong cuz i dont front squat it i just get it up there, well good job man!

  • i can do 300 lb then front squat it 50 times

  • very good for weight im 14 and rep max i got 220 at a bodyweight of 130

  • caught it a little forward but really nice lift. almost double your body weight

  • Love your description in the box, Im the same way. I hardly ever take supplements and just stick to good food and my mother's cooking! Right on bro!

  • @bball11206 why don't you just 69 the OP and be done with it?

  • Good power, but see how you caught the bar with your heels off the ground?? Weight was WAY too far forward and you can really do some damage to your knows doing that....remember to be careful guys!

  • thanks very much for your advice. unfortunately, i haven't lifted or maxed out that haeavy in 4 years. I just stay at 225 and rep that, kinda boring but I'm kinda cautious now. I want to start olympic liftin though but too busy.

  • i bet you were pumped up after that

  • You should try the hook grip... Not only is it better than the traditional grip but it increases grip strength. Less strap use the better.

  • I'd like to have a lifting coach , wanna try olympic lifting and see how I do but work keeps me busy. I'll it in the gym next time tho with the new grip.

  • @blaketmick what is the hook grip?

  • nice straps dumb ass... you should not get that lift.

  • why not? Different high schools ion different states prolly have different regulations and rules. this isn't the olympics or the World Championships, it's the 5A state powerlifting meet for Kansas. If I was competing in your are and I can't use straps, then I wouldnt. thanks for adding to my views though!

  • straps=cheating

  • Haha, that was funny how you dropped it.

  • the judge wouldn't give me the lift If i just let it go so I tried to guide it down but it was too heavy to do that so I basically couldve hurt myself by doing that.

  • LMAO :10 , HORRIBLE TECHNIQUE

  • I can't believe you didn't get whiplash at the end. It looks like you forgot you were wearing lifting straps. Good lift though.

  • The judges wouldnt let me just drop the weight so I tried to lower it slowly but it just went from my chest to the ground like that. I couldve pulled a muscle or something, stupid judge. But they gave it to me.

  • Nice job man!

  • Dude your toes must be fucking strong.

  • good lift amazing

  • odd form... he seemed to have landed on his toes and why is he wearing running shoes? good weight, work the form, safe your body

  • i learned how to lift in a conditioning class that is afforded to everyone at school. I did not know there were special shoes for these lifts. The class was mainly for sport conditioning. i did 315 @ 165 lbs at school for my very last max out.

  • Now thas a hang clean well done yung man!

  • im 14 and clean 225 and i weigh 142

  • roejogan your such a fucking idiot if you knew anything about lifting you would know that that is good form. the clean is a full body lift you use your traps, tris, biceps, deltoids, pectorial and for lower body you use hams, thighs, glutes and even calves. so learn the right technique and stop being a dick hole you faggot

  • sweet im 13 clean 175 at bodyweight of 123!

  • very well done!

I didn't clean 175 until i think the end of my freshmen year (last year) at a body weight of 160 (estimated), 15 years old

    keep up the good work,

    Vincex22x

P.S. best max ever is 225

  • Ur such a man!!

  • if you wanna be helpful thats great but dont be a douche

  • damn thats pretty beastly. Is it bad for your knees when you come back up like that?

  • Very impressive lift. Don't listen to these idiots here they dont know nothing. Sorry that you cant lift anymore whatever is the reason. All good for you!

  • uggliest form ever

  • p.s. im surprised this kid didnt blow his kness out :p

  • Thats why olympic weightlifting is in the olympics and powerlifting is not. Olympic lifting involves all muscle groups simultaneously, while power lifting involves 3 movements which are repetitive and require no technical skill whatsoever. Power lifters i garauntee you do not even have the athleticism to train the way olympic lifters do. these guys are athletes, they do sprint training, theyre cardio is immense, and theyre train all other areas as well, not just weights i.e. bodyweight, plyo etc

  • Umm... WHAT? It's the same thing, some people care to learn better technique, some don't. There are only so many olympic lifts that are contested.

  • That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard...powerlifting and bodybuilding should BOTH be Olympic sports.

  • I can pretty much guarantee olympic weightlifters do not have immense cardio. They are incredibly powerful but its counter productive to train cardio and sprints when they're only goal is to lift as heavy a weight as possible

  • one of the worst cleans i have ever seen on youtube. everyone apauding you are idiots.

  • lmao! tell me about it.. almost ate sh*t! but i give it up to you.. try without straps next time.. here at my school our coaches don't allow them.. bummer.

  • That's really good for a guy you size. That is more than I can do right now and I weigh 80 lbs. more than you.

  • too bad olympic weightlifting requires the least amount of strength.

  • RIGHHHHHHHTTTTTT

  • you know absolutey nothing. why dont you phone up viktor scerbatihs, hossein rezazadeh, matthias steiner, evgeny chigishev and velichkpo cholokov and tell them that they are not strong, i havea good feeling that theyd tell you where to go. if your trying to say that a 550lb clean and jerk doesnt take that much strength, then you know absolutely nothing

  • stfu queer. Go ask a powerlifter what they think of olympic lifters. They will probably laugh at you.

  • are you actually serious? mate, i think its the other way around. weightlifters consider powerlifters slow, unathletic and lazy. the olympic lifts recquire imense strength, power, and SKILL! how fuckin hard is it to pick a bar off the ground? notvery. how hard is it to do a full snatch? VERY hard. youre just a ignorant powerlifter who thinks its the only strength sport. and another thing, weightlifters dont wear pussy lifting suits so they can lift more weight and look stronger than they are.

  • First off, anybody that lifts with a bench shirt is a pussy, i agree. Second off, Lifting a bar off the ground is 100x harder when the weight is usually 250kg more than what the person is snatching.

  • great lift however video description makes you sound ignorant and a cock. If you mean supplements as in protein shakes, then these do not make stronger guys strong. it makes life more practical. Just because you eat mummys cooking doesnt mean you have acheived more than other people. dont give yourself a fucking medal.

If, however, you were commenting on use of performance enhancing drugs, then i suppose that alters the context and i fully withdraw my comments. :)

  • Yeah you're right. Not only that. He's just naturally strong. Got nothing to do with his mamma's cooking.

  • nice lift. screw the haters. they don't realize you can have bad balance once in a while.

  • landing on toes...not a good idea

  • You should've spread your legs out. It increases stability so that you don't fall down.

  • Nice.

  • beautiful

  • 134 kg , fucking hell thats ace!!!!!!

  • anyone who says they can lift more and shit, shut the fuck up unless you have a video to prove it

  • god dam looked like your knees were about to snap

  • You have Very good power but please don't break your toes.

  • i spend more time working and training for other stuff due to the marine corps obligations.

  • nice dude. Im trying to break my school record of 300. And im only at 185, clean 250.

  • nice lift bro... 156 bw thats awesome :0)

  • this is awesome i give you respect that! you earned it with that lift, FUCK all the haters

  • Bad lift but Excellent power. Once you correct your form, the sky is the limit for you. Keep up the good work.

  • nice lift! pretty shabby form however, you look bow legged.

  • nice job bro..especially for ur size, what r u like 165?

  • 156 at that time.

  • say goodbye 2 ur knees in about 15 years!

  • JHF831, just lift it, you sound like a girl with comments like that, even if it might be true.

  • Nice very strong. Get back into it. You are meant to lift.

  • even though everyone criticizes you, i'm impressed by this attempt.

  • still impressive.

  • work on your rack too twisting your forearms to the side like that is horrible for your shoulders.

  • you get more force squating from your heels than your toes so sit back when you scoop it

  • I have a bad habit of doing that. I'm training with lighter weight to be able to do that now. still needs work though.

  • why's that guy standing behind you it's not like he can help you on an olympic lift

  • so i dont fall flat on my back if anything happens

  • haha believe me he can't help you more than can hurt you there's alot of spontaneuos shit that can happen in olympic weightlifting

  • yeah I know but it cant hurt to prepare with Operational risk management.

  • i did 315 at school 2 weeks before that. plus i had bench and squat before that so i was tired, but i just wanted to get that record.

  • Sure his form could have been better...but he is a normal high school kid,who hang cleaned 300 at 156lbs!!!Thats pretty darn good no matter what his form looked like. He has the explosivness to do the lift, then catch it and stand up in the full squat position, and Im sure he doesnt have a coach who is telling teaching him how to do the lift with perfect technique.Guess what else..alot of olympic level olympic lifters actually use straps every now and then in training.

  • Thats why youshould use straps I've fallen over the bar before too

  • i did use straps. and i fell like that because the judge wouldnt give me the lift if i dropped the bar, so i tried to take it back down but it took me down too.

  • I meant shouldnt use straps.

  • yeah that was pretty good form, until you landed on your toes haha, idk how in the hell you could even handle it like that

  • revoltx dont pay attention to these guys everyguy that comes on here claims to be a 10 year fitness genius. technique wasnt the pretties but amazing nonetheless when you consider the wieght.

  • haha thanx. yeah weight was always the important part back at my school, maybe I couldve gotten a lot more if i had cleaner techqiues.

  • there are so many things wrong with this lift. but here's a few notes: 1) no weightlifter is allowed to clean with straps. 2) This is a shrug, reverse curl into some kind of on toes squat. it doesn't count as a clean because the bar is never racked on the clevicals. 3) the bar from the hang travels maybe 5 inches or less. basically this entire lift is being fast at a reverse curl and dip under the bar.

  • dawg this is high school, there is so many rules being broken. and trust me, i did not reverse curl this, i mainly upright row this at a fast speed and high enough to where i can get low on it.

  • 1) so what? this isn't the olympics. i broke my wrist during football practice and my hand was in a cast for 8 months, my left hand's grip strength is considerably less than my right as a result. cleaning with straps allows me to lift heavy weight with good form at high speeds, otherwise i'd be stuck doing 205 for 12 reps each set. 2) if you watch carefully he does NOT reverse curl the bar, he pulls the bar towards his shoulders and then drops his hips under the bar

  • the first thing this kid needs to do is learn how to keep his back straight and not hunched when he does the deadlift because proper technique is paramount when performing a deadlift. second, he needs to be more flexible at the ankles because when he lands he's on his toes and that put pressure on his knees. learn how to deadlift without using your back and start squatting with 5 pound plates under your heels to get rid of your ankle inflexibility or else you will get hurt.

  • thanx for the tips. our high school didn't stress the deadlift as much as to hang clean as many pounds as we can. and when I land, i land on my toes all the time, but i get told to land flat footed to make it better but it's habit i need to break. thanx though.

  • wow nice hang cleaning 300lbs for 156 is amazing keep up the good work

  • I think the only thing you "actually" did there was almost paralyze your self. You're the first ballerina I've seen do a hang clean... congratulations

  • hahahahahaha

  • damn, but why cant u do nything anymore?

  • I've joined the Marine Corps and the majority of their gyms don't have an area or weights to do any powerlifting or olympic lifting and I'm lazy now and don't do any lifting at all. I wish I had the motivation to go back and do it again.

  • I see major injuries are possible with faux lifting coaches ala so called strength trainers in football. Guess football has so many kids they dont care about injuries. Lifting wise this kid could have gone to the weightlifting championships with proper training maybe even the Olympics??

  • i had good training. It's just the judges wouldnt give me the lift if I just dropped the weight so that's why u see me fall over the bar when putting it down. but thanx for the comment.

  • pretty impressive only b/c he is a small guy, you had good form to except your feet when you caught it on the squat, kinda wierd you were on your toes, you would have better balance if you were flat on your feet

  • thanx, i was in the 156 lbs class that day. i never was able to land flat on my feet, i think that scared me. i really wanna learn how to power clean but scared of the heavy weights from pulling a muscle.

  • practice it with lighter weight, i had almost perfect form in highschool and got up to 315 and took the school record but my friend who plays football for UNL smashed it with 340 or something like that, but he was like 6'2" 300lbs i was only 5'8" at 230lbs, man i need to get in the gym and work in clean again.

  • whats his name, im on the track team for unl and i lift with all the football guys

  • power cleaning takes a lot to get use to, i had good form during the summer, but when football started, we barley go into the weight room and when i did power cleans my feet where coming off the floor and i wasn't going low enough, it a excisie that takes a lot

  • i got the same form as u about and i cant land flat footed im always on my toes

  • ouch

I know this is a max attempt, but that clean was far from graceful

    hope your knees are okay

  • dude holy shit I'm 143 and I'm only doing 205 Dman you! haha Kudos though and nice save.

  • DON'T LEAN OVER TOO MUCH!!!!

  • they wouldnt let me just drop the weight or they wouldnt qualify it, so i tried putting it down slowly but i guess i just went with the bar and it almost threw me.

  • damn that was good

  • thankz, i wish i can do that right now but the marine corps made me so lazy to do anything ahha

  • strong and more so at your weight!

  • uhhh i totally believe you that it was 300 lbs...I weigh 180 and at my peak before my senior football season, i cleaned 315, but you can hear an announcer say 295 right before you lift off.

  • hmmm u are right. the record was 290, i think my first set went 275 then 295 to break and then i tried 315 twice and failed. thanks for pointing that out. I did 300 and 315 at school 9 weeks later though.

  • LOL at the spotter there...what's he gonna do?

  • make sure i dont fall on my back.

  • no fukin way is that 300lbs..he dedlifted it like it was 135...dont lie about it

  • yeah that was 300 pounds man. That was my senior year bra. I started in 9th grade. I had to do a lot of training to get there. But if you want to be skeptical about it then you have all rights.

  • ninoforte... count the fuckin weights. Obviously you don't lift much because you don't even know that each of those are 45. 45x6+weight of barbell = 300+

Now go bench your 6 pound dumbells.

  • i like what you posted about how people can squat more than you and your response being i don't care... good for you dog with all these shit talkers out there who couldn't probly lift a pencil but i play football and am 175-180 pounds and my clean max is 225

  • thanx man.
