'Mystery Train' is probably, still, the best book ever written about rock'n'roll. Thanks Ms. Reid for sharing your story.
I attended Marcus's L.A. reading for his Van Morrison book and made sure he signed my vintage copy (stolen from my high school's library!) of Mystery Train.
Marcus is such a rich writer, full of ideas and trenchant analyses. All of his essays are worth your time to read. I've been kept up many a night by his books.
