This is not quite the correct way of doing a breast exam, especially the axillary part. If the lady holds her hand above her head, she is contracting several muscles that will silence any obvious palpable axillary lumps. What the partner needs to do is support the lady's arm with her's so that the muscles are relaxed, and then she gently palpates the axilla.
