Record world prices for most staple foods have led to 18% food price inflation in China, 13% in Indonesia and Pakistan, and 10% or more in Latin America, Russia and India, according to the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO). Wheat has doubled in price, maize is nearly 50% higher than a year ago and rice is 20% more expensive, says the UN. Next week the FAO is expected to say that global food reserves are at their lowest in 25 years and that prices will remain high for years
It is shameful that people starve in a country so rich as ours.
People need to rise up and demand better.
I was just reading an article on Yahoo about how times are tough and parents are eating less for lunch, so the kids can have a good meal at night. That is wrong, when a working person can't support their family.
the most starkist aspect of this is most of the hungry are black and elderly. Also why is a charity having to give education to kids when lthough that was one of the responsibilities that comes with a decent society. I could be wrong as the video could've been shot any where in the world as poverty does'nt discriminate between borders
I witness poverty daily and do what I can to ease the angst by visiting kitchens not only for nutrition but to lend and ear and compassionate heart to far too many you are much worse off than you and I.
Thank you presenting this much needed to be exposed issue to the vast audience among us. Feed the people. Peace in all its dimensions.
Great work. Keep it up. God Bless!
