Thanks, this is the first I've heard that so non-disabled McCain was taking a disability pension.

But, in the "don't get mad, get even" vein--I think folks should surf on over to the Obama campaign to see how to have influence in the swing states, where rightwing folks are busy being targetted with propaganda telling them Obama is a Moslem traitor about to establish a communism in the US. I doubt they know Obama would cut their taxes, or about Songbird's "disability" pension.

McCain was born into the officer corps. They don't hang out with enlisted folk. He's officially disabled with his TAX-FREE, special circumstances wad he gets every year from the taxpayers. It only pays on-quarter of what he paid his household servants last year. He's unfit to govern.

Torture is torture - no one should do that or have it done to them.

But the McCains don't need that kind of money - give it back. My soninlaw has been there 3 times - I worry about his mind. Bring the soldiers home. the war was based on lies. Find out how much money we owe China for the war in Iraq. It is against the law, or was before bush, to torture. Sending soldiers into a war of choice - and to be tortured - has cost us 4150 so far in Iraq. Do you really believe that only American life is worth living? I've heard that McCain was nicknamed SongBird - because he was tortured - it goes both ways.

I'm not sure how much McCain was tortured. He was badly injured in his plane crash, because he tried to eject and failed. That's what broke his bones.

His captors knew he was the son of an Admiral, and he made propaganda films for the North Vietnamese.

 Not only has he failed to release his military records(as far as I know), he had records that were previously open to the public CLASSIFIED when he got back(even though the POW families campaigned against this) I wonder what he's hiding.

One of the major principles set out by the constitution is the prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment. Our Founding Fathers were well aware of torture and its effects, because Europeans had been practicing it quite intensively up to and beyond the time of the revolution.

Torture is about terrorizing and repressing a population, not about getting information from the guilty. You've fallen for some "spin".

I am fully against torture - I don't even like to hear that soldiers just piss on things in homes - that's nasty and hateful. McCain has paid all his life for Karma - divorced devoted wife - he knows a lot of people consider him a scumbag for that. He's losing it - mentally and has had cancer 4 times - He was raked by Bush, now kissing that stinkybutt. Bush hid his record (or lack of).  I won't vote for McCain-palin's only making it worse. I really don't think he will win either.

To change to a lighter topic, I didn't feel any sort of "I need Hillary" for my pride as a woman, but in addition to more practical considerations, the idea of Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain representing my gender is stomach turning. Like everyone else, I wish Barack would stand up for our constitutional liberties and peace and get everyone to support him, BUT, I do like how I've seen him treat his wife-respectfully, as a team.
