I made the salt soak and I must say: The TEA GETS EVERYWHERE. I had to take a shower afterwords to get all the little green bits off me and my bathtub. I recommend tying a few spoonfuls inside some old pantyhose. Still works but without the mess.

You can use a double boiler to gently melt ingredients together without a microwave. If you dont have a double boiler pot you can use a metal bowl over a pot of gently boiling water.

salting roads is bad b/c salt gets the soil around the road and prevents plants from growing here. the salt you may use on your bath go through the drain and are treated (well, it depends on where you live, but you get my point).

Actually, they're two different kinds of salt. The salt in sea salt is the same kind of salt you eat (NaCl). However, the salt used on roads is CaCl; and if you touch it, I'm pretty sure it'd hurt. I'm not entirely sure on the chemical formula for road salt. But anyways, since sea salt is found in nature (that's why sea water is salty), it should be pretty eco friendly. :]
