  • 'truthadvocate'..."How can they morally ignore the benefits it can provide mankind?"...

You need to go talk to some farmers, and seed savers who know the difference between GMO crap, and real food...In fact the opposite is true....Farmers have committed suicide, more pesticides are used on GMO crops, and more and more 3rd world people are losing their land and gettin' crammed into miserable slums in the city, when they use to at least be able to grow some of their own food...

  • Biotechnology! Another Monsanto trap! Dirty Fuckers!

  • lies lies lies monsanto lies the people die!!!

  • GM Crops in Canada have contaminated non gm seeds GM genes have jumped from GM pollen to non GM crops. Gene jumping is inherent to the GM Techno. + contaminated the soil Gm Crops contain Viral Promoter, who leads to cancer. CaMV Promoter. Do start reading your Goyems.

    OR the whole world dies....

  • O jisses christ The gen man seed are "lethal it content SV40 and aids Promotor.

    Dont you read any ?

  • The Nobel people in 1970 when they were giving Norman Borlaug a prize, they siad it was for saving a billion lives. Funny how these people are happy to have ANY food and yet someone still has the nerve to bitch about their own irrational discomfort. Goddamned heartless whiners.

  • Biotechnology saves lives, reduces pollution, reduces pesticides in our water, reduces starvation, improves the standard of living in third world countries, offers alternatives to fossil fuel energy production, and still these nut cases protest the entire industry. How can they morally ignore the benefits it can provide mankind?

  • There's a widespread fantasy in profligate and wasteful western societies that simpler kinds of tribal communities really were more in touch with nature, less violent and more pleasant. I believe most GM and fission opponents are people who share this fantasy.

Studies of a wide variety of contemporary hunter-gatherer type societies show that a male has a ~30-60% chance of dying at the hands of another male from a different tribe. Their lives are short, disease-ridden and brutish.

  • @truthadvocate

Biotechonolgy can certainly be beneficial. However this brand new, young technology has to be used with care, knowledge and responsibility. Strict regulation and control is essential. Unfortunately, today that's not the case. Powerful biotech companies like Monsanto don't give a shit about the impact their GM crops have on the ecosystem and the very nature we all depend on. Morover, companies like Monsanto are far to powerful, and are dominating and terrorizing the food market.

  • What people don't realize either, is that in at least 15 states...These corporations have pushed through the state legislatures limitations now so people can't vote on the GMO issue locally. This started to happen after some local counties voted to ban GMO's...Goes to show these Corp. and Reps. could care less about people's concerns and voting rights...It's ugly stuff...

  • It's not just about labelling...But GMO crop contaminates other/organic crop - whether we like it or not...And the Monsanto's and ConAgra's could care less, for those of us who don't want it in our food at all...I am against all gmo at this rate...

  • I don't think that most Americans know that 70% of their processed foods contain GMO's, and these foods are not labeled. Since there are health and environmental risks related to GMO's, these foods should be labeled, like they are in the EU.

Is Monsanto trying to hide something? It is irresponsible and deceptive to create and distribute GMO's without letting the consumer know and have a choice. If plant biotech is to survive is needs to be forthright and responsible.

  • Also...go to - grain dot org. to find out how Monsanto is bullying people and farmers around the world to grow gmo crud...

  • NSResponder...

Huh?. Have no idea how that statement of yours has anything to do with not wanting to be forced to eat gmo crud...

  • "Making these items "for profit" is what really makes me angry."...

GOOD!!...It should make people furious!!. Farming for 10,OOO yrs. was independent, and free from Corporate profit. And we should be concerned about it's affects on the ecology too!...For scientifically critical views on GMO...google -'nature institute'...go to say-no-to-gmo, ge free maine for info. on being active against corporate greed.

  • Purplelotus,

Perhaps you'd prefer to freeze in the dark, while you're starving to death?

You'd better hope you never live under the kind of government that murdered about 30 million people in the Soviet Union, and 77 million in China.

  • i thought this video was about global warming....

  • How about greenpeace convincing 3rd world countries not to take gm crops FOR FREE just incase, and millions starving as a result? Is that ok on your moral compass?

  • yeah, at first they give it to the farmers for free and the next year, when the farmers are dependent on them they'll sell it for high prices. GM seeds are not very fertile, even if they're not Terminater Seeds, and you can't keep a part of the harvest back in order to sow the seeds the next year again under these conditions. You depend on someone else to sell you seeds every year...

  • Oh, Monsanto is soooo good... farmers who keep their seeds to plant the next year are sued for that!

Is that how they want to "end world hunger"?

  • Bolivia had the right idea when they revolted to take their water back from the corporation that tried to sell their own water to them.

Having a healthy, happy, and united community is to the benefit of everyone, and you can't have any of that when people are starving. If the companies were actually "giving" the GM seeds to farmers all over the world, now that would be something.

  • I don't think the real issue is that GM foods are bad for people or for the environment (no studies have shown evidence of this, but who knows, they used to think DDT was OK). The real issue is who owns the "rights" to the food. Sorry corporations, it's not you... it's the people. People have a basic right to food, water, clean air and shelter. Making these items "for profit" is what really makes me angry.

  • You can't say that, what about medicine or implants. Should those belong to the people too? When companies can't turn profit they do not invest in research and the ability to create life saving technology fades away.

  • Hmmmm, I find it highly unlikely that anyone is being "given" GM seeds to grow crops. While it's true that genetically modifying food can help produce more food per acre and make them resistant to disease and pests, it's also true that patenting food is morally disgusting (though patenting the splicing process I can see as being OK).

  • Get the real facts? Indeed, it is YOU that needs the real facts. Norman Borloug is not a "greedy capitalist" but a nobel laureate, credited with saving well over a billion lives. People who are against GM food are ignorant. Do you think its better for 2 billion people to starve to death, than to give them GM crops? Saying that the creators of GM food care nothing about people and only profit is ridiculous; organic farmers and companies make far more profit.

  • Sponsored by Monsanto - This is what the greedy capitalist wants you to believe. Get the real facts!

GM Foods are destroying nature and natural selection. GM Foods are controlled by the greedy capitalist that care only about profit and nothing about the people or life in general! Get a clue and get informed on just how GM Foods are made and patented! Check out the documentary The Future of Food and read The Secret Life of Plants.

  • And I suppose you're any better person to believe than the greedy capitalists?

  • Greedy capitalists are responsable for antibiotics, MRI machines, pacemakers, etc. The fact that these people make food is no different. Money is spent on research and to pay scientists and engineers to develope and make this technology. They deserve to turn a profit for thier work.

  • Sponsored by Monsanto - what do you expect?
