  • Anyone who thinks this video was anything but a joke is an idiot.

  • the mg zr is a fun car till the head gasket explodes i think thats clarksons point of the gag because every rover or mg ive ever driven once u go over 100mph the head gasket goes i think its a major design fault that rover never bothered fixing

  • Clarkson is a fucking knob...

  • These cars were awful but at the same time... they were so great!

  • some of the comments here honestly, the turbo WASNT plumbed in you only have to listen to know that. The K series engine obviously wasnt sh*t or lotus and various other kit cars wouldnt have used it, it will loose a little coolant over time but if you keep topping up every other month it wont do a headgasket as 95 percent of HG failure is from coolant running too low as it hasnt been kept and eye on, the K series won many awards and was advanced for its time and BMW and Toyota tried to copy it

  • @UGStreetRacers Wouldn't an S reg 216 have a Honda engine?

  • @Goldsack not likely as its a bubble 200, the old R8 216 wedge shape did come with a honda single cam 1.6 or a rover twin cam 1.6, both very good but the rover engine was a bit quicker

  • @UGStreetRacers Fair enough, I thought the change over was later and couldn't really tell from what I could see.

  • hahaa! that rover with a turbo = chav dreams.

A chav up the road from me has a rover 25 with huge chrome alloy wheels, an exhaust you could fit a traffic cone in and one of those shitty bonnet bra things.

It looks like an old man went crazy and spent his pension in halfords.

  • its a joke u fool

  • How can a little Rover EXPLODE like that!

  • And I pay my TV licence fee to fund this utter drivel?

Not like Top Gear or Clarkson to pick on an easy target.

  • @RortyCorty This is his own DVD from his own company. Nothing to do with licence fees.

  • why doesnt he sit there at 3 thousands revs with clutch just on biting point so the turbo spools dump the clucth and handbrake :D

  • shitty k series

  • "They should be executed"

  • mg zrs dnt have turbos. u can have a 1.4 k series up to a 1.8 k series with a vvc unit givin it 160bhp!

  • utter twat

  • LOL

  • i doubt that turbo was actually plumbed in

  • @davezetec

    Gee, do ya think?

  • @gamewizard Yes

  • rovers are the most recall cars ever

  • I am not sure if it because I am drunk or am American, but I cannot understand a damn word this guy here is saying...

  • what a tosser have they got nothing better to do then waste money

  • I'm sure the stig was black in this one. Lewis Hamilton perhaps?

  • just a massively over the top way of saying he's against modding cars.

if i had the money to buy a ferrari, i'd much rather spend it on buying an average car and making it unique

  • The vehicle details for S309 GTO are: Date of Liability 01 12 2007 Date of First Registration 05 02 1999 Year of Manufacture 1999 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1396CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour RED Not a 1.6!!!!
  • rover suck donkey dick

  • @dan832 Sorry but Rover where at the time a threat to BMW and that's why they bought them! so they had no competition!!! BMW suck donkey dick!!!

  • @sw1000xg If rover was a threat then why did they sell up. Who are still making cars today BMW end of chat!

I'd rather take public transport than drive a rover....

  • @dan832 Because they didn't invest in engines chassiss anything, BMW where scared and because they couldn't buy Merc they bought Rover! I would rather hop around then drive BMW's...

  • stupid and pointless

  • I was not expecting that haha

  • that was so fake !

  • @PeresD It's from a Jeremy Clarkson DVD.. how can it be fake?

  • jerks like this guy helped to kill Rover ,he was always slagging it off !

  • @PeresD

Rover killed Rover.... The directors should have listened to Jeramy... or been shot... either would have worked.

  • this is stupid such a big turbo on a small engine...

  • Proof that all Rover cars are infact..Rubbish.

  • @fighter19831 how is that proof the rovers are rubbish u idiot? the turbo was not gunna work 1 for the size of it on a small engine. 2 u can clearly hear there is a manifold gasket blow. 3 and the boost pipes were held on wiv electric tape and the car was triggerd to blow so rover was not crap till BMW fucked them over!!!

  • the turbo wasnt even hooked up it has electrical tape on the charge piping. lol

  • The ZR was never turbo from the factory...The Rover 75 was...

  • @jimvtecgreece it was, the turbo would have been from the 2.0l diesel.

  • @RacketOfficial Hm...i stand corrected then. We don't have many diesel models here in Greece unfortunately...

  • @jimvtecgreece yep well said, plus the 75 turbo was small, and so were the L-series turbos. They were going to put a turbo in a ZR but it was only a 75 engine and they went bust. This turbo looks like its came off a truck or something. Typical Clarkson, a twat.

  • @hamster639

You're the twat if you believed this video was real. It's a joke, grow a sense of humour.

  • @hamster639 Yeah what a nob! He didn't even position it well, he just had it slung up there with the bonnet bent around it! ... wait a minute, do you perhaps think it was a joke? and that perhaps you look like a moron getting so worked up about such a little thing?

  • why is it sounding like he is putting a South African/Australian/New Zealand Accent in the begining?

  • 2.0L Turbo is the way to go

  • The MG ZR isnt turbo charged?

  • @bobhead360 Mine is ;)

  • oh dear !! oh know if you know what that bigger word u used even ment then u would realise your chatin out your ass lol jeeese !! worst motors ever !!

  • the way every rovers life should end oh with the humor too it is funny !!

  • @oldboi1 Why?

  • @ash7990 because those people could NOT make one decent car !!

  • @oldboi1 If you seriously believe that then you are delusional quite frankly. Very good cars.

  • Stupid. A ZR doesnt have a bonnet like that does it? :S

  • Any numpty can drive a modified car in a straight line......bring corners into the equation and the driving dynamics change considerably. That is where the multi million pound R&D budgets allocated to the likes of the M3's etc. will show their worth. (A driver with a modecum of skill also helps, something that is comically lacking in most of the drivers behind the wheel of the Modded cars)

  • @jmothersdale Precisely THIS. It makes me howl with laughter when people talk about modded up, tricked out chav mobiles like a squillion bhp skyline from 1989 can 'keep up with a veyron'. Maybe...but probably not...and even if it did, it's be rattling so violently the drivers brain and spine would detach and fly out the windscreen. R&D is EVERYTHING, you cant just stick 1000bhp through any old lump of shit and expect godlike goodness

  • My Brothers RS turbo has a 0-60 and top speed of alot of supercars and that doesn't have any effects and it does stay together well and although it was expensive as he paid sitech to do it but they did a very good job and it stays together very well. Also has a more modern zetec block so also is reliable.

  • @Englandforever91 what 0-60 in 8.3 seconds and top speed of 125? just watch it blow those ferreris off teh road. tbh if you chipped em they'd hit 140, but the sunroof would pop out and the spoiler would fall off

  • 0-60 in 7.6 seconds as standard actually and thats funny because just last month he was driving it at 160 at a runway and it had no problems what so ever.

  • @Englandforever91, not standard it wouldnt, 130bhp mated to a mountain of tourque steer and turbo lag. only cars of the time to see 0-60s like that standard wre the 150bhp astra gte's, 205/309 1.9 gti (under a ton in weight) and the 150bhp clio williams (also under a ton), rs turbo was more in leuge with mk2 golf gti in terms of performance! oh yeah 160? so you've gone to the huge expense of putting the getrag gearbox in then? driveshafts/clutch and brakes wouldnt cope with 160,FRS underpinning?

  • @Englandforever91 My best mate had a completly stripped, caged and sorted Series 2 RS turbo with a "zvh" engine fully rebuilt, forged and stroked to 2.2 .that kicked something like 280bhp iirc, it had full suspension handing kit, HUGE brakes, intercooler, big turbo etc etc.. It was RAPID and handled like a gokart BUT it lasted all of ... 3 years before it vanished into a pile of rust on his parents drive!!

Dont get me wrong there beautiful and iconic cars BUT nowhere near supercar standards!!!

  • @BR0K3NM1ND I agree, they are better than people make out though. I never claimed it was better than a supercar. I just find supercars are a waste of money. If you think about it they cost over £100,000 to buy, the depreciate and end up being worth not even half that when your done with them and in a couple of years time a new more update version will come out and you'd just look like someone whos gone and brought a cheap outdated second hand supercar.

  • @Englandforever91 dont get me wrong i love the RST but id need to see a video to believe it (hint hint hint :) ) but 2 true bout supercars, pretty much any non turbo porsche can be had ina clio 172 piece of piss (classic look on porsche driver face as clio comes past) and stuff like evos and scoobies cant get away except in the very very top end like over 130mph style. pretty much any small car will punch way above its weight. shame they only make lard arse jelly cars these days

  • @theprodicalsonishere Check out the rs turbo 4x4 cosworth putting down a 0-60 in 4.1 seconds the video is on here. Anything is possible when it comes to modifications. I never claimed it's better than super car standards as a car to own but to be honest supercars are abit of a waste of money you never get it back and when the newer versions come out it looks outdated and stupid.

  • @Englandforever91 oh right then? Your supercars argument went like this, "when the newer versions come out it looks outdated and stupid" Hahahaha how fucking stupid are you? So you would prefer an old Ford or Rover to an old Porsche or Ferrari? You stupid retarded knobhead, the only thing outdated and stupid is you!

  • @coltsuperocean10 Well actually I would rather have an old ford. Old supercars are not nice to live with.

  • @Englandforever91 Oh and it wouldnt keep up with a modern day supercar by anymeans! lol

I have a 320bhp 200sx s14a, its stupidly quick.. 0-60 in the low 5s and top speed of over 160mph (clocks only go upto 160 and goes off that!) and not even that would keep up with a supercar! But i have raced and beaten plenty of RS turbos, scoobys, evo's, m3s... sorry!

  • @BR0K3NM1ND What about the escort cosworth with 1200BHP and what about the fiesta that does 0-60 in 1.9 seconds? If you think about it supercars are a waste of money you lose loads on them then when a new version of it comes out the car you have you will feel 2nd best and that around £200,000 has gone done the drain.

  • Peugeot 206...love it... You're broken.

  • BOOOM!!!

  • jc sums up why i cant buy a ferarri or lamboghini

  • pmsl!

  • there is a reason why Ferrari don't use small engines because using small ones + power adders wont make it as reliable as big engine that makes the target horsepower without breaking a sweat

a 2 liter engine makes 100 hp will have to work 4 times harder to produce 400hp then you need to find a way for these overstressed parts to live not to mention the abilty to drive it smoothly issues

but..when you distribute the 400hp on a bigger engine the load diminishes drastically and everything changes

  • I wonder if thats why they have spare stigs ;0)

  • vtec just kicked in! YO

  • i really doubt that turbo was hooked up to anything

  • @dukeboy11134

yeah he was just trying to make a point lol

  • hey, the stig has got lightly dark skin colour... it really could be Hamilton!

  • MG = MY GASKET!!

  • Would that actually happen?

  • obv not u clown

  • @WILLZVIDS I highly doubt it

  • That man should be a comedy actor.....

  • A clown.

  • From an MG Zzzzzzeddar.. :>

  • i do get his point but if he want to prove it then he shud invite people with tuned cars to race him not to do a stupid stunt which isnt real and tbh u wouldnt tune a car like that anyway lol

  • 2:40 - Thats typical of a Rover with a K-series engine.

  • @1ns4ne1d10t

Hahaha hee heee heee ho ho hohaaa hee hee he heh heh heh...

  • Lol

  • i think he meant mg zr engine e.g. rover 200 engine turbod witha rover 216 turbo lol

  • i shit my pants when the car blew up

  • Lol at the way they just rested a GT30 turbo ontop fo the engine !! If they had fitted it with 'a Turbo from a ZR' well the only one they turbod was the diesel, with a little T15 or T2. Itd be half the size.

  • GT15. Different generation ;)

  • thats not a 216 its a 214 1.4 8v - which produces like 75/80bhp or something. If it was a 216 then it would produce 111bhp not 103. 103bhp is the 1.4 16v.

  • Hmm.

    YEAH YEAH.

  • think im wrong if you like, i know im right

  • I wasn't disagreeing with you.

  • @ash7990 111bhp? Whoop de fuckin whoop!! I gotta get me one of these bad boys!!

  • @ash7990 Car anoraks ftw

  • @ash7990 oh wow

  • @ash7990 do you really think you know more than jeremy clarkson? if that was the case surely you would be on tv not him?

  • @jamesell911 Did I say I know more than Jeremy Clarkson? ( I dont remember and I cant find any comment from me saying I do) and also, in what way do you mean? Do I know more mechanicly about cars than Jeremy Clarkson? - Well yes, I do. Clarkson has even admitted himself that he hasnt a clue when it comes to the mechanicals of cars. He is a TV presenter, not a mechanic or infact anything to do with cars, it just so happens he loves cars and presents a show about reviewing cars.

  • @ash7990 there was 1.4 16v and 103hp

  • @bociannielot Yeah there was a 1.1 8v - about 65hp, 1.4 8v - about 80hp, 1.4 16v - about 103hp, 1.6 16v - about 111hp, a couple of 1.8's and also the 2.0 diesels. The engine in that one is an 8v engine, I can tell from the rocker cover and metal inlet manifold - so its a 1.1 or 1.4 8v producing about 80hp tops.

  • lol my rover head gasket went

  • Lmfao that scared the shit outta me :L

  • the standard car pumped out at 103 bhp! now this is probly a million...maybe more ! haha

  • Well it was a Rover

    pieces of shit

  • Hear hear!!

  • Which Rovers had Honda Engines in them?

  • I think those with 3 figures were made under Honda and those with 2 figures under BMW

  • @griffy87, the honda engines came in the mk2 200 series 1.6's (216 around the 1989 - 1994 era). I'm pretty sure the 600's had them too in the 2.0

  • rover 200 r0ver 216 rover 214

  • lol well the turbo off a diesel mg zr aint that big and neither is the turbo off a zr x that looks like summit u wud see on supra to me

  • Did any of the ZRs have turbos? I thought even the 160 was just a high revving N/A car? or was there a ZR diesel and they used the turbo from that? Its entertainment,he didnt do it properly..Give me 5 grand and a ford escort and ill give you a car that can get to 60 in less than 6 seconds

  • they did a 2.0ltr Mg zr turbo diesel when they brought out the facelifted model but it wasnt around for too long before the company went bust.

  • Yes the 160 is a N/A K-series with Variable Valve Control (quite a sophisticated system that actually altered the valve duration rather than just the static timing like most)- the only turbo was the GT1549 on the L-series diesel ZR.

There was a ZT 1.8 K-series petrol with a turbo though.

  • I am sure he made this video for those stupid men who are still immature in heat posing as a young teen young boy who drools over the word "TURBO" that also goes for you young tools who put a air foil"tail" on anything that has wheels. Looooozers......

  • Volvo owner by any change "inachu"? How boring.

  • nope

  • And a small turbo actually is pretty useful in a car. To get it nicely and speedily up the RPM range.

But of course a small turbo itself doesn't gives what those people want. REAL speed.

The smaller turbo's just don't give allot of power in the higher ranges. But it is still doable on most engines.

Not to mention I like sleepers, cars that look very normal, but under the bonnet that isn't the same.

  • Anyone know how to get replacement buttons for the remote? if so, how to fit them BACK into the remote? Or is it best to get new remote and have that reprogrammed?

My mate's remote missing the buttons.

    Many thanks guys.

  • You can buy kits on ebay to refurbish the key fob. To program the fob, I think you unlock the car with the key, then hold the fob button down.

  • Slow as hell huh? I wonder what car you drive?

  • you also got dicked in the brain at birth

  • i crashed my mg zr yesterday.. roled over because my wheel went of the road.. the car is total loss now :( it was my big pride :'(

  • Just about proves Clarkson is a prat. No petrol ZR came with a turbo. And I'm PRETTY sure that's not a K-series in that car.

What a waste of a car - just to make Clarkson look clever. Sigh,

  • u dont own a rover do u lol

  • This Is Stupid Tbh, Cause I Don't Think There Was A MG-ZR Turbo Charger.

  • Thats bullshit, a 1,4 16v pushes out 101bhp, how does a 1.6 only have 2 bhp more.

  • 2.2 chevy cavalier 115 hp

    1.5 Civic 102hp

Depends on the built, parts and quality of the engine

  • he KNOWS JACK SHIT he has said " iv never held a spanner in my life" so how can he comment would sum 1 plz give me 1 mechanical reson 4 the rover is rubish exsept the cylinder head gazget.

  • Clarkson is an entertainer, not an engineer. The power output quoted is for a Rover 214 (1.4-litre). The Rover head gasket is a hyped-up problem and repeat failures are often caused by it not being done properly the first time. They're no worse than the Vauxhall eight valve engines for HGF. As for the engine, look at the figures:

    Escort 1.6 - 89PS / 130Nm

    Astra 1.6 - 101PS / 135Nm

    Rover 216 - 109PS / 138Nm

  • yes this is my point how can he pritty much make or break a car just on his thoughts when he knows pritty much nothink about how it works. there is nothink wrong with rovers it really pisses me off to c ppl slag them off it shows how little they know. the reson a rover engines gasket will blow is because of the way it is being handled and how it was assembled. i feel that checking up on the engine every now and letting it warm up before driving it hard would prevent the headgasket from going.

  • what you all saying there is a zt turbo and it is a 1.8 160bhp look on auto trader

  • umm the mercedes does cost a fortune and they dont use high quality parts, thats a rip off. A CTS-V would go faster, so would a Qutroporte, and many other cars. The germans are just cashing in on retail suckers.

and u can tune a car to be as fast as a supercar, provided its a good base to start with. Impreza,Evo, 240sx, Skyline, corvette etc etc...

  • well none of these will ever feel like a quality car, like a BMW (not a fan of mercedes tho they do look nice) while all those cars u named off r good, they are cheap because the parts used for the interior are cheap, mainly plastic, yes the CTS-v is very fast, but an STI is ugly and an evo really aint the best looker, and tho Skyline is good you can hardly find one that isnt messed with. and Vetts are as common as a handa civic with nice rims. Nissan is my fav car company. Pathfinder!!! lol

  • lmao the stig

  • 4 fuck sake there never was a mg zr turbo unless its a diesel

  • well maybe its a bodge.... it sure looks like it to me

  • This video is bullshit, the Rover 216 is one of the quickest cars in it`s price range. And you can tell that there is something wrong with the car on this video because it is very slugish. And let me tell people that people are acually buying Rovers again because of the upgraded Head Gasket that is now avalible, that does not blow!

  • allow this blo

    so so funny

  • OMFG!!

I just solved this fucking mystery.

The reason the car looks like it has a MASSIVE engine is because there is a very flat or M3 car underneath the top is mearly a chassy why there is only one seat in it.

PAUSE THE VIDEO AT 2:43 and then keep clicking pause and play and look at the right hand side constantly you can see the car drive away and hear it if you have the sound on full.

  • well obviously there has to be something powering it... they couldnt actually blow it up with somebody in it!

  • erm... theres no such thing as a ZR turbo..... MG only ever put turbos on the diesels...? what is jezza on about?

  • they done a ZT turbo (ZTT)

  • ZTT was the Touring version (estate car)

All MG Zed series cars were naturally aspirated.

The only time you see a turbo MG ZR is if it has had the T series engine conversion from the old Rover Coupe.

  • Except the diesels of course.

  • my thoughts exactly probably from the diesel L series lol

Although it's all a joke and Rover were already gone at this point if I recall right

  • Dont Know why people Diss these cars that much, Their not that bad when the K series engine was made it was Revolutionary and one of the best Twincam 16valves to enter Motor racing. the engines are good loads of power from such a small standard engine. Nice to drive as well stick like glue to the road. and aluminium engine block so nice and non-rusty easy maintained. cheap £30 induction kit also makes it sound cool, a lot more grunty than other 1.4's and 0-60Mph reached at the end of 2nd gear.

  • um a rover 216 has 111 bhp standard

  • what the fuck is this american clown yodisyabollock or whatever the fuck its name is, going on about. I agree 'english' cars (as the dumb twat refers to them) are'nt the best and i would own a german car at any cost, but this peenarse thinks yank cars are good. What a fucking tool. Cheap and nasty interiors that cant even go round corners. Fuck off back to yanksville and your new black president you fool.

  • o and read the botom one first then the top cuz i didnt have enought character soace to fit it in one

  • Oi, I drive a 206 and I fucking love it, and I'm a lass. So shut up!

  • Will Have to back that up as well

yodisyaboijc... uk cars may have small engines but produce a lot of power so we dont need huge engines that waste loads of fuel. plus our cars can handle corner's and are not built from cheap plastic. prob get 600Bhp from a 2L engine. and i did notice you said Focus and mondeo being FORD which is an american motor company not uk. so dis them all u like any way coz ford do kinda suck.

  • What?!?!?!?! 600hp from a mustang??? 4.6L engine?!?! try the other way around, 6 litre engine, 460bhp. Probably not even 460.

Get your facts staright, a 206 is a peugeot, which is FRENCH! And you cant learn to drive in a mustang anyway, so why make stupid claims you fucking dull cunt. If your going to try and be a smart ass, do your research, then make a comment dickhead.

By the way, how is every UK-made car 17/18 years old?!?! Now go fuck off you ignorant cunt

  • american engines are rubbish. they are overbored dinosaurs. the reason why a european 2.0 is considered big is because it produces more power than most 4.0's in america. not to mention all of those cars mentioned would out corner a mustang or a camero any day of the week.

  • yes you're right on! American engines are old. Lot's of litres and almost no hp. Accept from a few cars, but still, they are old, engine, suspention.... Go and race you're mustang against the new Focus RS on a track, and learn.

  • not much hp but a lot of torque.

  • i really cant get my head around massive american engine that make such piss poor amounts of horse power i would just stay in bed and sleep off my shame if i worked at the factory where they made them :(
