Why Dodge the Enterprise when you can Ram it? ;o) Somehow I found the collision funny. :oD

Also, once I used the KM mod for BC, I wondered why Khan even bothered with a sneak attack. The Miranda can mop the floor with the Constitution; the extra torpedo power (more of them, and faster loading I think) make the difference.

It's a track from the new Battlestar Galactica TV-show from 2003. It's called "Assault on the Colony"

The track has been made by a very talented composer, Bear McCreary. I absolutely recommend his music.

@StarTrekMarco Yes, Bear McCreary did a great job with the Galactica series music...even down to his recreation of the original 1978 Galactica theme...working with the original composer, Stu Phillips. Hats off to Bear for his integrity.

I've always liked the Reliant, the design is so sinister-looking somehow... I can't really explain why.

Yes you're right.

It's interesting that the original design of the Reliant was upside down with the warp nacelles on top of the ship and the torpedo launcher at the bottom. They sent the drawings to the producer and he looked at the drawings upside down. He liked it so much that he decided to build the studio model with the warp nacelles on the bottom and the torpedo launcher at the top of the ship. A great ship design was born! :D

So Reliant fires phasers and torpedoes about ten times on Enterprise, but does no (visible) damage to her, so Khan get frustrated and orders a collision with Enterprise. Is this your take on how the battle should have been?

The video might actually have been comical if Enterprise hadn't exploded herself.

By the way, I have the Kobayashi Maru mod for BC, and the refit Constitution class is no match for the Miranda, at least in that mod.

Yes, there's no visible damage because I turned that feature off. I captured the scenes with Fraps and it didn't work fast with the battle damage on, the whole thing slowed down onto very few fps.

I made this video out of a mood, there was no intention from the beginning to make it that way. I experimented with some scenes I shot, then I made a vid out of it. It was just kinda fun making it.

And yes, the Miranda is far superior to the Constitution in that game.

Regarding the Miranda class, nearly all of the "unofficial sources" for Star Trek regard the Miranda as being inferior to the Constitution class because of a "weak hull". I often wondered why that is, considering she appears to be made from the same components as the Constitution. Furthermore, she had phaser cannons and aft torpedoes (on a science vessel!). The Constitution has neither. Even had Reliant not sneak-attacked Enterprise, she had a tactical advantage.

@basherman69 The original Miranda class didn't have the refit "Weapons Rollbar" with the Phase-cannons and torpedo platform originally, this refit was intended to bring it closer to the Constitution/Enterprise class... the only short comming of the class, is less power due to a smaller enginerring hull... but most write-ups suggest in a short surprise attack the Mirranda out guns the Enterprise, while the Enterprise has better shields.

Kirk should have listened to Savek. =)

@Vandrek007 I used to have the non-canonical "Ships of the Star Fleet", so I know what you are speaking about regarding the pre-refit Mirandas. There were also some variant refits in that book that didn't have the torpedo pods but did have the phaser cannons.

"Less power due to a smaller engineering hull". I find that a puzzling statement due to the fact that the Miranda possesses the same engines, warp and impulse, as the Enterprise.

As you say, shield strength may be the difference.

@basherman69 Small note to StarTrekMarco... not sure if you noted it, but the Reliant fired on the Enterprise using the Phase-cannon mounted on the outer edge of the weapons rollbar, not the standard hull phasers. (Creative licence purhaps?)

@Vandrek007 Very true. In the movie, Reliant always fired her phaser cannons. Due to the positioning of both ships in this video, it might not make much sense to show the phaser cannons firing in the initial assault, as they were perpendicular to Enterprise at that moment. I can agree with the creative license, but many Star Trek fans might nitpick it, anyway
