  • Howsabout spending less time telling us crap with words, and showing us more of your model?

  • First half of the whole video is a few words, WTF man?

  • The first time I opened this video in a new tab and it played but the computer wouldn't let me switch tabs, so this video played for no one.

  • @libertyphoenix777 So, the computer wanted to keep it for itself? Shame on you, selfish computer!

  • @scifieric Yeah, it can be like that sometimes. And just plain childish, it has temper tantrums sometimes and won't respond. (Me talking to the computer), "Did you hear that, computer, Me, and scifieric both upset at you!!! So start behaving!!!" LOL!!!

  • It's ugly, and it's not Star Trek.

Look, it's simple. The look and feel was already established from The Constitution Class to the Sovergn class. This is some fantasy class BETWEEN the constitution and Enterprise class, and you can't turn back the clock.

    this does not count.

  • abrams ship does look realistic, as realistic as the beatles' yellow submarine

  • Wow...the Jjprise was anything but realistic. It was highly cgi detailed yes...but not realistic. Starships don't look like squids.

  • @pridetheninjakiller Star Wars rules only apply when playing Star Wars. ;)

  • em.... It looks like the originial 60's version, just with a few more lights and a different, pretty weird looking deflector dish. Try making it a little more.....realistic.

And all you JJ Abrams haters, try just looking at his version without comparing it to the old one. Maybe you might like it in and of itself instead of comparing to an old 60's toy model version.

  • I didn't mind J.J version of the Enterprise, But this one would have been alot better! More old school..Good Job scifieric!

  • they should make evil genius 2 on a space ship :D make a space station that would be sweet

  • I HATE the deflector dish

  • EPIC

  • Chris Martin... You ruined her.

  • This was a cool vid pic. I like the use of Star Trek IV music to send it on its way with.

  • That looks like an early 23rd century design "Asia Class," or "Hyperion Class" from the Ex Scientia Astra website. Check it out. Also can be found on the Memory Alpha website.

  • You See JJ Abrams. the artist should rip the CD o the new Star trek and replace the bubbly mess enterprise with this one.

  • @thecopykidofthestarz Thanks! I'll let the designer know.

  • @thecopykidofthestarz That entire mess known as the "new Star Trek" should be jettisoned into space. Then Paramount/CBS could have someone else besides Abrams and company produce and direct it!

  • @Actionguy1 well just the enterprise in the movie, Oh and the Alternate reality idea.

  • @thecopykidofthestarz...

Ok all you overly nostalgic people! We all admit it, the old design of the enterprise is pertiful.....

But it looks like a toy model that you buy at Toys R Us for 5 dollars! JJ Abrams' enterprise looks realistic and genuine! Move past the 1960's and live! It is the 21st century people!

Wow, way too much sugar for me. I apologize if any of this was insulting.

    HA! BUT IT'S TRUE!

  • @thecopykidofthestarz This one looks very awesome! When i sah Abrams Enterprise the first time i was thinking

"What the Hell?" He should make a modified version of the first Movie Enterprise.

  • nice............. very nice

  • @ytbigjim Thank you very kindly. I will pass it on to the designer!

  • I want to see this ship blow something up in a video longer then 30 seconds...it would be awesome.

  • @Gragthor Now that WOULD be fun!

  • Thanks FadahRon! That's very kind of you!

    Jedistarship, thanks for the comments!

ijzerkoekie: Thanks for the kind words!

  • THat's bueatiful! well done scifieric!

  • @FadahRon Thank you kindly!

  • All he has to do is shorten the Nacelle to about 3/4 from what it is now and just fix the Deflector a little.

  • Good effort. Like.

  • Chris, as always, amazing work! I just wish I could do that well with my own scifi ships; but perhaps I should return with some of my internals to the forum!

  • Still one of my favorite reImagined connies out there.

Done right, the bussards on this thing animate really well.

I've done around 20 minutes worth of animations with this ship and it's a very slick model.

  • Yet another Enterprise that looks less gay than J.J. Abram's version.

  • Dito!

  • @peethreeorion hater

  • @peethreeorion HAHA

  • @peethreeorion How can a ship design be gay ? Does it date other starships ? And how is this design better than the movie one ?

  • @Azakhiel - I think the JJ Abrams Enterprise may look gay is because it looks like it was designed by Playmates - ages 3-up. (No offense to Playmates though).

It's just too darn bubbly, especially around the nacelles.

  • @quigon87yt Well many people seem to agree with you. Personally I like this new design a lot. In fact I'm actually wondering if I like it better than the 1979 version, which is saying a lot, coming from me. Personally I was expecting something much more different and I was pleased that the new ship looks so much like the originals. The one in the video looks a bit "pimped" to be, not unlike Koerner's design. No offense to any of those two artists, of course.

  • @Azakhiel - There are some designs I just can't used to, this being one of them.

Even to this day (I know I'm gonna hear about this) Enterprise-D & C is not on my Fav's list.

    Enterprise 1701 & A & E & Excelsior NX-2000 are on my Fav's list.

I guess it all comes down to a matter of choice & preferences in the end.

  • @quigon87yt

em, I doubt that if the ship really existed and was functional, the nacelles would be rods with a ball on the front. At least JJ abram's ship had some realism to it.

  • @davidusk2 - Everything by today's standards has to have realism to it or the audience just won't buy it.

I agree that JJ-Abrams ship is realistic but like everything that's rebooted the original design ends up being lost (Abrams kept some basic's intact).

Look at some remakes: Day the Earth Stood Still (Saucer replaced with Glowing Ball) Lost in Space (J-2 replaced with Shuttle Craft) War of the Worlds (Words can't explain)

These movies failed because they lost site of the original concepts.

  • @peethreeorion any other ship looks less gayer than abram's ship

  • Don't be sorry. Can't please everyone all the time!

  • I posted a comment 4 months ago regarding alternate timelines, before I had seen the new movie and learned that Abrams' excuse for screwing up Trek canon was that "the timeline was changed when Nero went into the past and destroyed the USS Kelvin." The question a lot of people ask about that is "How could that have caused the Enterprise to be designed so differently?" I recently heard a great theory which explains that: The orignial designer of the Enterprise was killed on the Kelvin!

  • You know ... that's not a bad explanation!

  • Why is your deflector dish only half blue?

  • It is not my model. The designer wanted it that way.

  • I like how the creator of this model used toothpase caps at the end of the necelles.

  • Well, not exactly.

  • Holy shit man how did you do it? It's sort of like the AMT model I have on my computer desk....yet with a little computer enhancement....you are obviously not using software from a Commodore 64.

  • For a model closer in look to the AMT model on your desk, check out my other animations where I use the models I created. (The Doomsday Machine)

  • Comment removed

  • where can one get the mesh

  • Pretty cool re-imagining. Could have been a shoe-in if Abrams elected to not use the design he chose to.

  • That's very kind of you! I shall pass it along to the designer.

  • Thanks! That's great!

  • Comment removed

  • Is that someone who is critical of hypos?

  • no i was refering to the people who have been slaming the new enterprise design

  • Hmm, I like the nacelles :L

  • I shall pass it along. Thanks!

  • It looks like something out of the Mirror Universe...

  • I'll bet my buddy Chris would like to hear that. Thanks!

  • Not perfect, but still symetrical, and much better looking that that piece of shit JJ Abrams calls the Enterprise!

  • I'll pass it along. Thanks.

  • not bad at all...it kind of looks like a hybrid of old and new technology with that Enterprise.....

  • There's another version of the Enterprise somewhere on Youtube. The graphics are amazing and it looks a lot much better than JJ's Enterprise. Can't remember the fellows name.

  • Possibly Gabe Koerner.

  • Better then what was in ST11

  • That's very kind of you. I'll pass it on to the fellow who created the model!

  • Not my favorite design...the secondary hull looks...pregnant.

Good otherwise. Reminiscent of Gabe Koerner's Enterprise.

  • Most excellent. Well conceived. I just have a problem with the warp nacelles and the support pylons. Might be the angle of the pylons. Just my two cents.

  • I will pass it along! Thanks spacecowboy5000.

  • the enterprise from the movie reminds me more of the enterprise C

  • That's interesting.

  • Dude, you 'da man! LOL!

I will pass on the kind words to the designer.

    Thanks!

  • That looks a lot better than the awful design used in the new Trek movie!

The top theory about why the new movie's Enterprise looks so different is because it is set in an alternate timeline. That's also an explanation as to why the last series, "ST: Enterprise," got so many things wrong. This more authentic-looking redesign of the classic Enterprise could easily be in the future of the "ST: Enterprise" timeline!

  • yuck....grooooowse

  • Thanks for looking!

  • truly ugly design

  • To each, truly their own.

  • Ah, I thought it might have been a stepping problem like we used to get back in the early 90s.

  • Of course that is part of it and probably an inappropriately set key frame rate. I was using TrueSpace 4.3 for this.

  • What causes the periodic speed changes in the ship movement? It really detracts from the illusion of reality to see the ship "stutter" along.

  • Ah, that's because I was in a hurry and didn't add the motion blur that I should have. I will have to revisit this later and do a better job. Thanks!

  • Wow - now that is well done! I'd like to see a re-mastered version of the series by this guy. He's kept the original motion of the ship which in my opinion cannot be beat from the original - that's good directorship which can't outdone by special effects.

  • Uh, wow! Thanks for the kind words!

  • That is some crazy detail...me like.

  • I shall pass it along! Thank you.

  • Umm, what exactly does it have to do with evil genius?

  • Uh, perhaps only an evil genius could create such a wonderful mesh! LOL!

  • Hehe, makes sense.

  • Which track of the "Star Trek IV" soundtrack are you using? I wasn't aware that they used the actual TOS theme in any of the movie's soundtracks!

  • "Home Again: End Credits" about 1 minute and 15 seconds into the track. They've used TOS theme in just about everything so far. Usually you can see a blurb in the credits about how the original theme was created by Alexander Courage.

  • That's true, but usually the only part of Courage's theme that they'll use is the intro "dun-dah-DAH" section. The main body of the theme is rarely used - so it's nice to hear it here!! :)

Thankfully they're using the full original theme in the new movie!

  • Sorry I think it s*cks! Why can't Hollywood EVER get it right?? Just once I'd like to see them show the original ship in the movie because this is a PRE-quel! That means we see what it looked like not some glorified Hotrod! Gene must be spinning in his grave! Visit:newtrekmoviestinks at My space to see my arguments why!

  • I should point out that this starship mesh is not inspired by nor a copy of the new Enterprise. This is an original creation by a very talented artist, Chris Martin.

Chris, some people think you work for Hollywood!

  • I can see where people would think that. The only way this is a truly *original* creation is if the designer also worked on the aborted "Star Trek: Phase II" is this looks a tremendous amount like early designs for the Enterprise from that series.

Please, don't misunderstand me. It *is* quite well done ... just not necessarily as original as claimed.

  • The designer is a big fan of the Phase II Enterprise, that's for sure!

  • I think both EG's and MKF's reimagined Connie's are great meshes.

I've done a lot of animations with this mesh and it always comes out cool

  • I will pass it along, and I agree with you!

  • It's look like federation war ship :D

  • That's interesting!

  • Great rendering, ugly design.

  • Thanks!

  • lol to be honest im actualy impressed with this design but to lay out how JJs ship was designed ok JJ himself actualy was aiming for a ship design with a TOS feel but not to use the same detail and stripes as seen on the TOS enteprise ok but i think what JJ lacked with his ship design is he made the nacells a bit out of shape ok so from what ive just seen in this design this actualy is movie materiel but since JJs movie is set in a different timeline this aint the movie official movie ship.

  • It looks like the Enterprise visited the orthodontist and got some braces.

  • what the hell is the piece of crap?

  • fugly

  • looks odd. A bit like a tmp era constitution class ship that first was sliced to pieces by a giant samurai, and then glued back together by a blind man who had only the vaugest idea of how to reassemble it.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey that Enterprise was downright wicked looking(I mean wicked good). That looked like it could come from a mirror universe. More on the battleship side.

  • Thanks! I'll pass it on.

  • ugly

  • Verbose!

  • Thanks for playing.

  • Fantastic digital creation. Lots of time and effort in this one. A big congrads to your fine work!

  • Wow! I will pass it on to the model maker. Thanks!

  • While you pass on such things, I'm not going to be mean about this!

The lower hull looks to be quite broken from top to bottom, and held together only by tat thin red bit behind the deflector dish. if it looked more like one section + venting ports or phaser arrays it would be more normal looking. Just my tuppence! Great job.

  • Scifieric. You have just sent chills down my back!

  • Thanks, I think! LOL!

  • please show more of it!!

  • That's nice of you! I'm working on another project at the moment, but maybe soon.

  • It looks as if it would fit somewhere between ST:TOS and ST:The Motion Picture. Overall, not bad. It is refreshing to see these slightly modified Enterprises from time to time.

  • Thanks man! I will pass it on.

  • The skill is good. I don't like the design though.

  • Don't like it at all.

  • its supposed to be a cross of the refit connie and the original lol

  • i have that 3d model in Anim8or

  • Hm. It looks like...well, almost like a retro Enterprise. Like, fresh out of Spacedock, no refits, no nothing.

You know, I prefer the familiar version, but this is pretty nice. Thumbs up.

  • The model is good and all, but thats not the Enterprise. Jefferies design should not be reimagined, it is almost impossible to do it justice

  • Interesting design. :)

  • Very nice of you! I will convey your kind comments to the designer!

  • And the asshats have the balls to BRAG about who made this tin-can? JUNK.

  • Why, THANK you. Your semi-evolved paws managed to type a near sentence as they scratched on the keyboard.

    Good luck with your recovery.

  • disgusting Enterprise!!!! what have you done to our favourite ship?!?

  • Don't like the enterprise design. It's ugly.

  • is this in a game?

  • Nope! My buddy created the model and I animated it, but thanks!

  • I like the video but I don't really like that Enterprise design.

  • Well thanks for the kind words about the video!

  • I'm still more partial to the classic look personally, for a TOS era 1701. But on it's own merit the design IS pretty nice.

How about tweaking the skin around some to make their version of the Mirror Universe ISS Entrprise? (Not the "Enterprise" Terran Empire markings of course) Darker Hull, green replacing red, what have you.

  • That's an interesting idea. Hmm.

  • The design is baised on the bonaventure from TAS

  • Not even close.

  • real sweet. i like you vision.

  • Thank you kindly! I will pass along your comments to the model's designer/builder.

  • the new ship has an evil aura to it, which doesnt fit the song or Star Trek itself

  • And Mr. Horse said:

    "I-AM-A-REAL-HORSE!"

"No Sir, I don't like it!"

  • It has a tougher look to it... I like it!

  • Thank you!

  • Very nicely done now what do I have to take to do things like that?

  • Thank you!

First, learn to build models in a 3D Software: Blender is free, TrueSpace, Wings3D, Maya3D, Lightwave or your choice of many others. Learn to texture with Gimp or Photoshop or another image manipulation program. Then, you'll need something for sound. I use iTunes and Audacity.

    That's about it!

  • Matt Jeffries is rolling in his grave.

  • who?

  • Your lack of TOS knowledge is amusing...Matt Jeffries is the original designer of the USS Enterprise, and was also an aerospace engineer. His name is immortalized in the Star Trek universe, since the "Jeffries tubes" (or access tunnels) on starships are named after him.

  • Wow, thanks "Q"! lol

  • LOL!! I'd prefer Trelane, of course (being the TOS fanatic that I am), but I get the idea. :D

  • >>who?

He was the guy in that band that Paul McCartney was in before Wings... lmao!!!

  • Very kind of you but no, both of us are just home hobbyists.

  • Leonard Rosenman is my great uncle

  • Congratulations!

  • Very nice. Fresh, but pretty faithful to the original. If they had the SFX technology and budget in '66 I'm sure it would have looked more like this.

  • Thank you for the kind words! I will pass them on to the designer/builder.

  • Very nice work !!!

  • Thanks Jimmy! I appreciate the compliment!

  • Very nice. You kept it simple yet added details which make the ship more noticable. I like :)

  • I will let Chris know you liked it! Thank you for the note!

  • Not bad. The dish is different

  • I appreciate the kinds words KamehamehaVI!

  • Very nicely done.

  • Thank you LaughingPsycho!

  • I prefer that to the Borg looking version that everybody is going on about.

  • Which one is that?
