  • Thanks for making the video - really appreciate it! I went to buy my regular Sun laundry detergent today and it has gone up to $7.99 for a 250 ounce container. Screw that. It sounds like this is the way to go - much cheaper. Now tell me, after using your homemade stuff, is your laundry getting as clean as it was before? I just want to make sure before I take the plunge. Thanks again!

  • @chicofrijoles Thats the detergent that we used previously. To me, it cleans the same. And lasts soooo much longer!!! Plus you get more for you money! I've now switched over to a powder version of homemade laundry detergent. I'll make a video soon since its time for me to make a new batch. : )

  • honey you can find the fels-naptha soap for $.79 at walmart

  • @PatiaRussell Not at mine : (

  • @PatiaRussell Yeah, mine was a little more expensive than that too. Not by much, but I would have loved to pay $0.79!

  • @teemee234 Me too! I wish mine were $ .79!

  • that soap you put in looked like cheese, do you have to use a food processor?

  • @ItwaterDAME No, you don't. You can use a regular hand grater, it just takes longer.

  • this has to be the best idea ever !

  • @streightttRAWW I agree!!!! ; )

  • Do your laundry without detergent or hot water with a NASA inspired technology please visit my channel for more information

  • Just a quick little warning to anyone who hasn't made this before. I just made this for the first time, and the fumes were a bit much. My husband and I got a little headache. So before you start, open up the windows, turn on the fans, and the stove vent. :) I'll definitely remember that for next time lol

  • @Littleone89 Really? I didn't notice that. I've now started making a powder version, and that one is very strong!!! So strong that you have to put your face as far away from it as possible when putting it in the washer! lol

  • why did u ignore ur child u can multitask

  • @delicatelilflower88 Thanks so much for worrying about my child! She was absolutely fine. If you have any children, then you would know that sometimes they like to whine for no reason. Waiting for a moment to get what they want doesn't hurt them. : )

  • @skylerzmom I have children and I've never heard one whine for no reason. They always want something whether or not that be something to eat, help with something, or even wanting moms attention. "waiting for a moment to get what they want doesn't hurt them..." huh? You've got to be kidding..

  • @NascarChamp48 I feel so special that you have taken a moment out of your day to come and troll on my video! : ) Thank you so much!!! Like I said before, my daughter was absolutely fine.

  • @delicatelilflower88 really? ignore your child? that was a very low blow from u.... BEING A MOTHER, sometimes saying "HOLD ON" or "its okay" IS OKAY!!! my lord, people now and days.... get dissed on everything you do!

  • @AshleyMcElwee Exactly! Thank you!!

  • HELLO, I STILL INTEREST UR VLOG BUT I CANT GET CLOSED CAPTIONED BEC I AM DEAF IF U CAN EXPLAIN ME THAT HOW TO MAKE LIKE THIS.... THUMB UP .... SMILING...

  • @DEAFWALNUT Just google Duggars Homemade laundry detergent and you'll find the recipe on their blog. : )

  • shoot sorry! so every time i want to fill up my jug i have to fill it with water first? please i need to do laundry tomorrow! yikes just finish it my first batch! cross my fingers! lol

  • @eLoveCR7 Yes, you want to fill your container up with half water and the other half detergent. You'll also want to shake it before each use as well. Good luck!!

  • se mama, see mama! hey listen to your kid? lol so cute let us see him or her! hey you didint say how much essence? lol

  • @eLoveCR7 I only use a few drops..a little goes a long way.

  • this is the BEST laundry soap!!! Better than TIDE which was my favorite! I made a half recipe, which made 5 gallons, for $.78. It sounds crazy but I actually feel empowered by not have to pay a which now feels like a fortune, for laundry detergent. I am now getting ready to try DYI dishwasher detergent and regular dish washing soap. I am OBSESSED !

  • @ebfabulous I know!!! I love being able to save all that money! I'm going to be making my own dishwashing detergent once I use up all that I have.

  • oh how much should one use per load! ah have you done your own softener? sorry i didnt see pending approval till now!

  • @eLoveCR7 I use about one cup per load. I use more on the more soiled items, like towels. I haven't tried homemade fabric softener, but thats definitely on my to do list! : )

  • @skylerzmom ok i used the vinegar with some softener and clothes smelled of vinegar? so not using that! lol

plus the greedy building owner changed front load HE washers to old top load ones from like the 80's!

  • ok seen many videos and i have to tell u i like yours better!

isnt true that kids get fussy when one is busy? like they know! ha,ha, ha if you see every video here that has a kid is kind of fussy! weird? but cute! i love babies. well younger than 3 lol

  • great video thanks for posting. Kids were awsome

  • just made a batch. Thanks for posting this instructional video! I'm stoked.

  • That is soo cool. I am going to have to try this. :)

  • Can you use bleach along with this?

  • Can you use Baking soda to help with odors. and vinger to whiten.

  • @zone1282 I'm not sure, but sounds like something good to try.

  • I use this recipe and it's awesome! And I its safe for HE washers, just use half as much.

  • @biocooker Good to know! Thank you! Maybe one day i'll be so lucky to get one of those washers and dryers! lol

  • See ma ma !

  • @MrOrlandobob2 : )

  • Great Vid. I will be making my own VERY soon. How much fragrance would you suggest for that size bucket...(psst! where did you buy ur bucket.) Thanks again for the great vid.

  • @mspoetic247 Awesome!!! Just a couple of drops is plenty believe it or not.

  • Do you know if it's safe to use with machine that only take HE soap?!!??

  • @kevico2 I have absolutely no clue. I'm sorry!!

  • Thanks :) I just bought some from Ace Hardware. I'm curious does this detergent do well as far as stain fighting or would I have to still pretreat the clothes with something else? Can you please do an update video on how it all turned out for you? Thank you in advance :)

  • @hazel8304 I'm so sorry that I'm just now replying to this!!! I normally use a stain remover like Resolve. But I haven't had any issues with the detergent.

  • @skylerzmom dont bother with resolve or shout. Just rub a bar of Fels Naptha on your stain. Its works much better

  • @NeveralonewithChrist Thank you! I have absolutely no clue. lol I hope you figure out the measurements and try it! I love it!! I'm going make another batch today and try Ivory soap as the bar soap.

  • where did you find the washing soda?

  • @hazel8304 I found mine at Kroger with the detergents. : )

  • My detergent didnt gel overnight? Any ideas on what went wrong? I opened my bucket in the morning and it was water still.

  • @mrsvought I would make sure that you used the right measurements. i've never had a problem with mine not gelling overnight. It always gets really thick.

  • @mrsvought I don't think it was the measurements. I use a similar recipe, but the measurements are different and it usually starts to gel within an hour. I suspect you probably didn't cook the ingredients long enough. But I don't think this will effect how well it cleans your clothes.

  • oh wow this is soo good! i just have a couple of questions, how big has be the container where you put everything before the detergent container? how long does it last for you? so you can use it instead of tide? or anything else? wow im amazed!

  • @marinarobot The container was a 5 gallon bucket. Then when you go to put it in your regular laundry container, you will fill half up with water and the rest up with the laundry detergent. I go through it faster than you would if you use how much they tell you to use in the washer. I always put double the amount in the wash even when I was using store bought detergent. I'm weird like that! lol This is the only kind of detergent I use now and I haven't had any problems with it! : )

  • I have been tempted to try this. Oh and I wanted to share that if you go to a store that does cake decorating, moat will sell you empty 5gal buckets with lids for really cheap or even free. My Piggly Wiggly sells them for 0.50. I use them for everything, dog food, bird seed, step stools lol, standing gift wrap in... Now washing soap. The ones I get are white so they can be easily written with a sharpie.

  • @CAJUNTWINSMOM Thanks for sharing! I might have to try that. We don't have a Piggly Wiggly around here. : (

  • That is really cool, I wanna try it now! Thanks for showing us how!

  • @LauraLatin Thanks girl!! Its really such a money saver and so fast and easy to make!!

  • After all this you could have bought just as much Tide or Gain which smells and works better and saved all the time & hassle.

  • @researchologist Actually this detergent smells awesome! Plus it made 10 gallons of detergent with plenty of the other 2 ingredients left over. And the Fels-Naptha only costs 99 cents a bar. So I would rather save a ton of money than pay the price for those high cost detergents. And it only took less 15 mins to make!! : )

  • I think im going to try this. did you end up putting any essential oils in it ?

  • @OurGrowingFamily88 You should!! Such a money saver. And now, my Publix and wal-mart both carry the Fels-Naptha for 99 cents! ... I did with the first batch, but it smells really good without it. If you decide to try it, let me know how you like it!!

  • Very Cool!!

  • @alandamandamama It is!! And such a huge money saver!!

  • Can this formula be used with high efficiency washer... love the video

  • @bluetwist1920 Thank you!!...As far as for the high efficiency washer, i'm not really sure. On the blog it tells you how much to add to each load. And for the front loader is a little less than the regular.

  • OMG you are such a God Send, especially since I have so many empty containers I can just fill up and use. Does it really clean the cloths really well. Thank you som much for sharing. I am learning so much from you. Thanks for sharing sweetie. Big hugs and lots of love.

    xoxoxo

    Jackie

  • @creativejackie831 Aww! Thank you Jackie!! For me, it seems to work just the same as any other detergent that I have used. Plus so much cheaper!!
