I loved it when she said "you get to write in your own worlds" that's how I feel when I write stories and screenplays. Creating your own world to your liking. She was definitely a brilliant mind taken far too soon.
Read 'Kindred' and 'Parable of the Sowers' years back and enjoyed them immensely. Now that I am in the mood to read fiction again I am jumping back via 'Fledgling' and enjoying it immensely :D Mx
I can't believe I never found this author till recently. I had to find a book to read for class in the library and I found her collection of the Xenogenesis series and god damn it's good. I never expected it to be so good. She was talented as hell I wish she was still living to write more.

jeez charlie rose is an asshole!!!! I remember the first time i came across her book by accident in a garbage pail...KIndred... the second time was in a laundromat... Mind of my mind... the book was soaked! definitely felt she had to come into my life at any means neccessary...LOL... Love her spirit!
Her books are amazing. They really pulled me in and while reading "Parable of the Sower" on the bus today, it took me a good 2 minutes to realize I was at the college. May she rest in peace.
My favorites of hers are Kindred (of course), Wild Seed, the Parable of the Sower, and Fledgling and the stories Bloodchild, Evening Morning and the Night, and Speech Sounds (so many great works!). I fear her vision in the Parable books is becoming more like the real world every day, may it not be so!
I've been told to read Butler's work for so so long. Just never got around to it. Well, I just finished reading "Kindred" . OMG!! Amazing!!!! Great story! Fantastic writer! I am a Butler fan for life!! love her contribution to the literary world. I love her for being honest to herself.
