  • My first turbine instructor use to make me hold the starter button with my right middle finger (instead of my right thumb) and and keep my right index finger resting on the idle release. Somehow he figured my right index finger would be faster on the release in the event of flameout than my left thumb. I used to hate that.

  • So I have no idea about helicopters, but I heard this one term called the vertical tunnel or "broom closet" once. What is a "broom closet" and what is inside of it. Any answers from anyone who might know what I am referring to on a 206b?

  • According to a wiki article a Bell 206 Jetranger retails for about $700, 000. Watching another youtube vid on the RobinsonR66 they said it would sell for about the same, $700,000! I would sooner have the Bell:-) Not sure how old the wiki article is though!

    My note was gonna be how much less "rocking" there is from the Huey (205) and the Ranger (206) that he is starting... The Huey (205) starts to rock around just before its blades get spinning. But, the helicopter is bigger and the blades are much heavier and bigger than the 206 blades.

  • @devonshyer looked like the tot hit mid 800's or so... not uncommon at all on a start in my experiences in 206

  • @foxtrot789 How can you tell in the video that he almost had a hot start? what signs do you look for?

  • @itsmonti1 If you look at about the 35 second mark, you'll see one of the gauges climb rapidly and then sit straight down; that position of the needle is beyond the limits of the T.O.T. (Turbine Outlet Temperature). The two symmetrical rows of gauges on the left side of the screen, 2nd from the top on the right-side row. Or, check out this vid: *youtube.com/watch?v=dMmKHzWbH­2I* :)

  • @foxtrot789 thats were you are mistaken, it was not out of limits for start up, i can go as high as 927 for 1 sec with a 770-926 10 second transiant, thats why i get the big bucks partner

  • @crferrara hi there, yes this is me doing the start. i usually fly the bell 206 or the longranger, we are a civillain company that consentrates mostly on mining exploration, forest fires and pretty much anything but military
