DVD Studio doesn't burn them. I just compiled a great looking BluRay project using DVD Studio, I have an external BluRay burner & if I want to burn simple stuff i use Toast. But the templates are CRAP. So DVD Studio was a waste of time for me. I have the DVD version made of the project, but wanted to make a twin BluRay version-forget it. The DVD Studio just kept spitting out the BluRay disc. Apple are idiots.
THIS IS A VERY MISLEADING TUTORIAL. I HAVE FINAL CUT STUDIO 3 WITH A HIGH POWERED MAC AND HAVE FOUND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PRODUCE A BLURAY AS YOU DESCRIBE . HAVE YOU ACTUALLY ACHIEVED WHAT YOU SAY IN THIS FILM?
TO MAKE A BLU RAY SUCCESSFULLY YOU NEED AUTHORING SOFTWARE LIKE TOAST 11 -
More than 2 minutes of complete nonsense that no one wants to listen to man. People are coming to this vid because they have researched a bit already. You don't need to spend an ungodly amount of time telling us shit we most likely already know. GET TO THE FUCKING POINT! You talk WAY too much
All of this could have been said in 90s if you cut out all the preamble and stuck to the content. And you forgot to mention the main thing. Apple OS X does not support Blu-ray so you need an external burner.
True it can make a BR file. But you can't author a true BR disk ... or can you? I've been told by a few others that all you can do with BR on here is make a BR Data Disk which will not play in a BR player all the time. I've heard also that people are pretty much losing interest in BR because it's so expensive to do, on top of being frustrated with the irritating Fee you have to pay SONY in order to author a true BR disk.
Seems that a lot of people are turning away from Apple and going to PC since more PCs offer BluRay options, more than Apple does. And I'm not talking just BR players. I mean BR encoders and burners built into the systems, which Apple will never do according to Steve Jobs.
Another great tutorial! For christmas, I split the cost with my parents to get the new imac 27 inch and I love it! I have now been saving for FCP 7 and will hopefully have the money within the next few months. Keep up the videos, your helping me a lot!
I say this as an Apple supporter... Apple's making me mad! I can't believe it's 2010 practically & the jerks still have not put BR on their freakin' computers. & what a stupid thing to say when Job's said that BluRay was a big bag of hurt. Did he think it would go away just because he didn't want to deal with it? Give me a break. Apple has always been ahead of it's time, why in the world would they hold back on BR? I'm an Apple user and supporter. This issue just irritates me as an editor.
@texformer Apple FCP7 can encode it, but it still can't burn it. You have to have external BR burners. But they don't have the BR burners built into their towers.
I'm about to get a PC, they offer Blu-ray and a bunch of software that supports Blu-ray. To me Apple is no longer a high end Audio/Video company. they are too focused on the tablet, phone and i Pod and the average computer user. They don't care about the high end anymore.
But im willing to be proven wrong, i''ll wait another month but then I have to pull the trigger on something.
@nelsonmilian00 it's Mac, Not MAC>. Which tells me You know very little, And hoping someone dies tells me about your age, which tells me you do not Own a company.
If you need to do your thing on Blu-ray you can do it using Adobe Encore, and get a third party burner and burn your little Blu-ray.
Most jobs don't require Blu-ray. You'd know that if you actually got any work for your"company"
@IntoxicatedTV And what's my age? I wrote MAC, maC, mAc or mac, You cares?. Ask your mother if I have a company maybe she knows. "Most jobs don't requiere Blu-Ray" You are the most MORON in earth. What happend to you some kids rape you with a Blu-Ray in hand. Y si no tegusta aprende español antes de correjirme pendejo.
The falta educacion jibaro, EDUCACION. Te lo digo en 6 lenguajes. Very few clients ask for Blu-ray. it's not cost effective .. Maybe on wedding videography.
@texformer Since I made this post I've learned more about why Jobs said what he said. Learned about the annoying Fee you have to pay sony. And just how nearly impossible it is for indy producers to put out a truly authored BR DVD. Plus it's just HD video right? There's nothing different about it..is there? It's just a larger storage capacity? I wish the entire market would recognize this and just go back to HD DVDs.
The "Share" feature in my FC Pro is always disabled no matter what I do. You enabled it by selecting Timeline. When I do it, "Share" still is grayed out. Do you know what the problem is?
See, now here is a pretty good tute showing everyone something new. This is one of the better tutes out there for the new Final Cut. QUESTION: Did you purchase the upgrade upon release? Also, do the new features make it worth buying?
Apple chose HD DVD years ago and have not dropped it AFAIK . I agree BR is great, and my clients dont ask for it either. Had a look at Adobe Encore for BR authoring on a Mac which looked ok, but not like an Apple app. My 2 cents is to focus on the filming and editing. Do we really need or want all BR features? in 99% of productions, probably not. Lets see what Apple do with Final Cut Express 5...I'd like Pro Res, or HDV native. Thanks for the video ; )
oh really i had no idea i want one but i like to burn a copy test it out because i usually notice something wrong, i sure dont want to be doing this with a blank blu-ray
AppleShakeGuru is a knowledgeable guy... But Apple has not even revealed this. Is this TRUE BluRay? I know there is no difference between HD and BR, the files are different.. it's just the disk capacity that's the difference. But . . why wouldn't Apple be talking about this if it was a true feature? And if somebody had 6.0.5 is getting FCP 7 as simple as the Update manager? Or do we have to buy a brand spankin new version of FCPSTUDIO like Apple is so famous for doing to it's customers?
Also equals i higher data rate with produces better picture and uncompressed sound, im pretty sure its the best of the best fcs is for the pro's. Its probably not talked about because the support kinda sucks, cheep looking templates and they dont support the drives. It sounds like they didnt want to do it but customers kinda demanded it but im sure quality is at its best. More Reviews will come in shortly im sure
I do church recording internet broadcasting mostly witch is more like volunteer work, but i have access to fx1 cameras to do concerts weddings documentaries and anything else that comes to mind so its more of a hobby anyways, expensive one but it has it rewards.
When the Macbook Air came out they made it look like Optical Media is out, Steve kinda sounded like he wants to get away from it all together. I hope we do see blu-ray in macs soon but iono, but what i do know is i got FCS 3 upgrade Yesterday :-) Love it, for $299 ill buy it anyday
Thanks Eric for doing this types of videos, You help me make my decision to purchase the New FinalCut Studios and for $999 you can't beat that, Once I get my 30"inch LED, i'll will be purchasing the new FCS7 and a bunch of other things, can't wait for Apple's Phenomenon to be release i'll will be getting that as well. Keep up with good work and I will continue to watch FCS vids
Thanks emeek, and one more thing. Really want to thank you for being there for me whenever I need the help. Today, because of people like you. I made youtube partner and it really was a dream come true.
yeah, plus Blu ray uses so much battery power while watching a blu-ray movie and its kinda unnecessary really. Windows PC's have to have gimmicks like that because they have such an inferior OS LOL. I got a Blu-ray burner for $199.00
Nice find. Do you think this is evidence that Mac's are gunna be getting blu-rays soon?? I hope so. Especially when on Apples website there's pictures of a MBP with FCS3.

Or can buy the Burner separate.
I don't use blu ray nor does many people i know so until it becomes a huge thing than ill get a burner and player.
