Hi I just subscribed, Im a Latino American I love your lang and food and girls. I was wondering is there s big difference between Chiniese and Mandarin? will either or understand and how can I a person learn how to read in this awesome lang?
you have too teach the basic strokes then, it will be a lot easier to pick up. you are skipping around on all of the levels, it is very hard to learn when you jump around the levels of difficulties,
Wouldn't it be better if you learn how to say words in Chinese first before learning how to write cuz i find it confusing.Or is it learning the Chinese way.Just wondering.
It's really up to the individual. I think she is trying to teach you to write because there are just so many characters to learn its good to learn from the offset if u indend to learn to read and write.
I really enjoy your videos. Please keep up the good work. PS, please ignore the useless comments that some off the posters are making. Constructive criticsm is great, useless comments are, well, USELESS!!!!!.
Chinese wasn't my strong subject... I was placed in Kindergarden-2nd grade (I was in the 6th-8th grade...) I pretty much sucked at saying the tones right (or even matching the right tones, I mean I was able to write out the words in Chinese).
Are you going to do these lessons kind of frequently (not to be hasty, just checking)?
Haha, don't make the same mistake as someone at my work made by using a permanent marker instead of a whiteboard marker on the whiteboard, lol. I had 2 scrub 4 ages 2 get the ink off, haha.
ok i know that in Taiwan they use traditional characters (and from what i hear they are very strict about them). How did you end up learning both sets of characters?
Your english sounds better than mine and I'm Aussie, lol. Ni de ying wen fei chang hao a! Keep up the good work. I been studying Chinese 4 some time now. Keep up the good work, u're doing well.
yeah I double checked about the "na" word and my dad said it was without a ko and I argued with him for about an hour saying there IS a ko next to the "na4" to be "na3" and in the end I just did what he said because he's 100% chinese and I'm not ><
Haha - thats funny. My mother in law is this kind of Chinese person too, so i understand where your coming from. I dont say im CORRECT about it(cause im not even chinese!), i just go by what the DUDES who write chinese dictionaries (plural) say... and they are REAL Chinese too. You should have used a chinese dictionary when talking to your dad about it.
Thanks for the lesson! I'm kinda confused though, I learned that the Pinyin for 'where' is 'nar', with an 'r' at the end as in the colour 'red'. I also learned 'shen me' instead of 'she me'... Is this just a different accent or did I learn it wrong?
I appreciate these lessons a lot, they have really given me the kickstart I needed to start learning how to write the characters even though I can recongnise a few already.
For what it's worth, I have a bunch of Taiwanese and a few Chinese friends and it's rare they'd make a big deal of my bad stroke order. But I am sure they will be delighted when I can show them things I've learned from your videos.
hi i think it's very difficult to learn someone chinese ! do your best, i appreciate you effort! talk how you will do with a friend or children you will find your way of teaching 我是很高兴看看你的录像 谢谢你 下次
uhh...did you not read the subtitles? OR listen to what I said?
I said "third tone" in the video and just mistakenly wrote second tone, I even fixed it by saying I WROTE it wrong using subtitles. Stop being so obnoxious. Like I said in the beginning, I make mistakes.
what I meant was that you wrote the strokes for mei (3rd tone) in the wrong order. Chinese people care a lot about the order that you write a Chinese character. I have a ten-year education on Chinese and I'm just telling you the minor mistakes that you've made. I suggest you let someone check your Chinese-teaching videos before you release them to Chinese learners.
I have a 12 year education in Chinese and my teacher hardly stressed on the order of strokes. My parents were both chinese teachers in their early years and yes, I do know that native Chinese speakers who get their education in chinese believe that if you get one stroke wrong, the whole word is wrong but I think as long as the characters look the same.
It doesnt matter. This is just for fun its not like a real in-depth published chinese tutorial video people have to pay to get their hands on. I'm 17 years old, chinese is my second language, of course I am going to get strokes wrong.
but honestly it doesnt matter now because I realized if people are really going to take these lessons seriously, I should just discontinue it because I'm teaching "wrong information" so you can stop worrying now, I am not making any more chinese lesson videos.
Don't listen to popcornboii. Don't let him suck the fun out of it.
I don't think anyone cares about the stroke order...they just want to learn. If they do take their lessons seriously with a professional that cares about stroke order, let them worry about it. At least the would be familar with it.
"12 year education in Chinese" and you still make these kind of mistakes? I would be embarassed if I were you. I'm glad that you're discontinuing your Chinese lessons because Chinese is a language that should be taken seriously, unlike English (although I take them both seriously).
You know what? I'm going to continue my chinese lessons out of spite. I take Chinese VERY seriously, and I have been speaking Chinese ever since I knew how to talk.
So, I dont know the stroke order...who cares? I bet I am more fluent and grammatically correct than you are. So if you dont like my lessons, dont watch. It's that simple. And I am going to continue teaching people WRONG STROKE ORDERS. Muahahaha! If people here want to learn "correct" chinese they would hire a real tutor like zenaiko said.
celebrityaddict, I like your confidence, but I'm just warning Chinese learners that if they learn Chinese the wrong way, other Chinese people will make fun of you. In your future Chinese lessons, I will keep my eyes on your mistakes and point them out in the comment section. Btw, I prefer your impressions of youtubers over this :P Good night from the USA!
Popcornboii, I'm sorry if I ever sounded upset. Honestly, I really appreciate it when you pointed out my mistakes. I'll check stroke orders with my parents next time I make a video. =]

does that mean, in chinese, americans are literally considered 'beautiful people'?? Or is it just coincidence?
sezchwarn 3 years ago
I think its a coincidence. I think "mei" (beautiful) comes from a"ME"rica...or something.
and "Americans" in chinese, in literal translation means "people of America" not "beautiful people"

Good idea check the lesson b4 hitting record.
na li (where) - The na3 in 'na li' u used the wrong character for na3, u in fact used the character for na4 (as in 'there')
She2 me (what) - the correct pin yin is 'Shen' not 'She' (the last word u did in the video)
Apart from that - Great Lesson - thanks. Keep up the good work.
slibbs111 4 years ago
yeah I double checked about the "na" word and my dad said it was without a ko and I argued with him for about an hour saying there IS a ko next to the "na4" to be "na3" and in the end I just did what he said because he's 100% chinese and I'm not ><

I think nar is used more commonly in Beijing. Shenme and zenme in Taiwan is pronounced as shenmo and zenmo respectively.
