  • its not banal,he has a show to run..a time schedule..twits

  • SHUT UP DICK CAVETT! SHUT UP CHARLIE ROSE!

I mean, how much latte can you sip? How many celebrity crotches can you sniff? How many times can you kiss your own ass? -- you over-socialized, name-dropping, self-absorbed assholes.

Go away. The botta yas. Go to some home for the terminally-narcissistic and don't ever appear on television again -- or, for that mater, in any place where people are present. Got it?

Now bend over Charlie and let Dick kiss it.

    Now, you dick

  • hehehe dick

  • Yes, Charlie sometimes does the modern thing of talking over the guest, especially when he's energized by them -- which is ironically unfortunate, since he's usually energized by the smarter people.

  • why cant rose shut the fuck up!

  • I love Dick Cavett. I got to watch some of his early shows, but not many. Watching them was like watching a genius interviewer who could be humorous without being out of place. I remember nearly falling off my chair. So witty, so intelligent. Thank goodness for the videos of Mr. Cavett's interviews.

  • @Sirgreaseflick absolutely right

  • Dick Cavett is a lovely human being.

  • Charlie Rose is like a humorless Leterman, but with a frontal lobe labotomy. The difference being, Letterman actually allows his guests to talk without histrionic interruptions. Rose simply enjoys hearing his own voice, and if he were to interview himself, he'd probably sabotage it as well! He must underestimate the power of silence, of listening - to know when to intercept, and when not to. Rose is so mawkish, so affected in his sentimental fakery. A mental midget with an ego of a giant.

  • Charlie Rose is an idiot. When Dick started talking about the incident on the concorde he interrupts him on the interesting part to talk about the etymology of the word "Depression". What a schmuck.

  • let him talk charlie!

  • I really miss Dick Cavett ... so more intellectually satisfying and entertaining than leno.

  • god...i'm so mired in the throes of depression right now...

  • @xtrmsprts I sypathise.

Here are some things that work more or less for me (just my experience, maybe inefficient for serious depression, I hope it can help you anyway) : I think that there is some sort of mind/body loop in depression : dark thouts create tensions and discomfort which in turn help dark thougths go on. So what I sometimes do is sit in a park, relax my body (very important), breathe calmly (idem), let ideas come but not follow any of them (no more characters, sequel coming)

  • @xtrmsprts Basicly I try not to think (and especially I don't try to solve any problem), but if I think, it's ok, I just let thoughts pass, as clouds. And I observe the effect of these thoughts on the body (for example, anxiety feelings in the belly), and I try to relax these tensions. I do this during one hour. Usually, after 20 minutes, I start feeling better. I look aroud, enjoy the moment. It's like giving your mind and your body some fresh air.

  • @xtrmsprts Because, sometimes I am trapped in some sort of compulsive thinking, and this method helps me to give myself a break. For me, the realisation that the body and thought are connected was verry important. Apart from that sort of meditation, I try to enjoy anything enjoyable, and to do as many fun things as possible. Sprorts is probably good too, tai chi for example is great. Well, thats all. I hope it wont be totally useless. Cheers from France and good luck to you :-)

  • @MrPeaceandhappiness Thanks for your comments! I appreciate your concern. Yeah, these seem like some great ways to alleviate depression. I definitely agree that thoughts and body are connected, I think it's scientifically true too. I'm much better now and have been for months now. Those were some dark days of the soul when my life was collapsing because my then-love-of-my-life had left me and things were tight in my professional life too. But I've overcome it all and am pretty happy now. Thanks!

  • @xtrmsprts You're welcome. I think I feel some solidarity with people feeling this kind of suffering because I know it can become very intense, people can feel stuck and be totally clueless about the way out. So I felt like sharing what I've found out, all the more so as I tend to think that the problem might not be that hard to solve if efforts are maintaned long enough. To me what is important is to keep using one's intelligence and feelings to try to find one's happiness.

  • @xtrmsprts It's probably a long quest but what else is there to do? The real danger is to give up trying because of bull shit theories (pardon my french!) about how life sucks and is hopeless. I'm glad you are already ok. Have a great time!

  • Charlie Rose CONSTANTLY interrupts interesting stuff to ask banal questions

Its almost as if he's subconsciously competitive and cant bear anyone to steal his limelight

  • I agree, and even though he often has interesting guests, I find his stop unwatchable because of that. He seems to want the audience to know that "he" knows all about his subject, so he speaks for them before they can get the words out of their mouths.

  • This interviews a little old, I think he's been a bit more quiet since.

  • @grai Great Ego dueling!

  • dick es lo más desde siempre; verlo ahora hablando de la depresión de una forma tan frontal y honesta alivia mi dolor; calculo que lo que le pasó en el avión fue lo que hoy conocemos como ataque de pánico.

  • WOW her ttits are reALLY nice! just like mine! D

  • I've haven't seen Dick for years; he really reminds me of George Herbert Walker Bush now. Great wit, great show. He always wanted to share his admiration and enthusiasm for other artists, so sincere and unusual. Not many people of this calibre personally or professionally on television. Miss him.

  • ha ur right i never noticed that until you mentioned it! they have the same kinda speaking manner

  • I wasn't around for the ABC late night show he did, but I did become a fan of his 30 minute PBS program from the late 70's & 80's....and he was fantastic! There isn't anyone around today who can do what he did....Leno, Letterman, Kimmel, etc....are just godawful to watch!

  • thats true, Charlie's even better when you think about who interviews have reduced to on most TV. I dream of being able to give intelligent answers on one of those shows, even if they ask me the dumbest questions ever, just to see if its still possible under all that flash and jokeiness.

I think Jon Stewart tries to do a good job too.

  • LOL lemizz - I remember smart people period! I watched Cavett and Parr as a child and feel bad that today's generation only have Leno and Kimmel on network TV.

  • There's Craig Ferguson!

  • thanks! I remember smart people on TV...

  • Much much more than a dip

  • I am so adopting him.
