Dear Newt, instead of writing books that our kids today will probably not read, why don't you use your extraordinary speaking skills to make an overview of WWII and other aspects of American History to make a series of videos for American History students so that their parents can use a video as a tool to teach their kids about History?? Kids today don't like to read but they would like to hear a dynamic speaker such as yourself. A DVD series would be great, you are a great speaker/knowledgeable

daveama.Your an old guy with lot of American pride, which I sure as well. But, this pride often blocks our ablity to truely see things through anothers eyes. We didn't win that war because we fought hard, we won it through "FEAR" of another A-bomb being dropped. The enemy at that time should have respected our power not feared it! Now we're reaping the backlash of future Japanese that couldn't forgive what happen those many years ago and have labeled all Americans as evil.

My point is that we could have won that war without using that Atomic warhead. The innocent Japanese civilians didn't deserve to die for their government or the soldiers on the ground. And they most certianly didn't deserve the "still borns" or birth defects resulting from the radiation of the blast. Excusses on how it saved lives isn't going to cut it,that we once again went against the Geneva Convention when we envolved civilians.

And the lesson that we shouldn't used have innocent Japanese citizens at that time as test subjects for our Atomic Bomb. No wait a minute would have to mean that we would have to admit we where heartless and not patriots. Americans 100,000+x Birth defects and death 30 years later to Japan 2 ships 2400killed and 1400+ wounded. Makes you say Hmmm.

We saved 1,000,000 american solders by doing this and millions of other lives. They could have surrenderd after the first, but their government refused. Their Goverment takes the responsibility of starting the war and causing millions to die. We just stopped them from killing millions more. Is that what you would have prefered? Millions more dead on both sides and the Japanese of then controlling and enslaving all of Asia. We did what we had to do. Our people were dying too, bubba. Wake up!

If Newt Gingrich wants to extend the US invasion of Iraq he should go there and volunteer to be a truck/ hummvee convoy driver. It's easy for him to bark like a mad dog about staying in Iraq because he doesn't have to worry about being blown up by a road side bomb

Newt was trying to get his book of history in school Some schools but his book in their classes. Newt's live is trying to change the Constitution and make this into a Christian nation. If you read his books you will understand where is mind his. by the way I believe we are a Nation of Christains and many other Faiths and I believe that is what our forefathers wanted.

I love this history. This book should be a good read.
