on my first day of pirmary school i thought that the point of school was to become a gentleman. and i sang ba ba black sheep like an opera singer at the end of the day.
Didn't quit college because my parents paid for it, however won't go to grad school to be greedy for more money. Rather i will send my time traveling the world helping the less fortune.
you have to be realistic, unfortunately unless you own a piece of land were you can grow your own food, and have access to water and a roof over ur head- you will need a job to make money in order to live
however what alan is saying is be aware of the social constructions which have been placed in your way to control your life. rather than living as a robot, you take control of your life in whatever way which YOU think suits you and live your real life instead of the hoax
@Adjei88 Its not my definition.. just from what Watts has explained- I have listened to all of his teachings, I was saying this because a large part of the hoax is the "double bind" which we are placed in from an early age because of the contradictions that come from being defined as an individual - The illusion of separation is the source of the hoax you see.
Alan Watts isn't telling you to stop achieving or to pursue nothingness. He merely wishes you to know that nothingness exists, or the realization of a concept. Stay sharp, you create your own realities.

If u love alan, and understand his thinking pretty well, u should join the army, get them to pay for your school, major in something you can use to make money, and spread alans message of love and whatnot thru whatever means you can.. music, humor, beauty, etc.

Unemployment is merely a step towards self-preservation, not immorality.

@ZenBarracuda What I make of it is that you were striving for a career through nursing, and life proved you that wasn't the way to go. Especially in this age, when one's way of going about life is in discord with his natural self after a while it always becomes a drag, and it adds up.
Find out what were wrong. BE BOLD and USE YOUR IMAGINATION and FEELINGS! If you feel nursing may be for you than look at the ways you felt with regards to and during that AND WHY then play with it!
