Bttle of Ain Jalut was not that important thing to Mongol EMpire. But it was a "life or death" for muslims. Egypt was the last one, so they no way needed to fight with all efforts. I dont see the logic on how conversion to islam brought Mongol Empire down. For me, the reason was their disintegration, quarrel between each other (the very character of nomadic people). You know during 1260 the Empire was ravaged under civil wars: Hubilai vs Arigbukh in the East, and Hulagu vs Berkhe in the West .

If you actually read history, first mongol campaign against Goryeo was 1231. The sixth and last campaign was in 1258. There were two sides in Goryeo, one wanted pace, the other wanted to continue war. The war-support leader was murdered and peace treaty was signed. After being tributary ally with its king and culture all maintained for 80 years, Goryeo then pushed all Mongols out (1350's). Yuan Dynasty (mongol) fell in 1368. Goryeo was replaced by Joseon in 1392. It became tributary *ally*. =)

So technically, mongol did not successfully conquer Goryeo. Just signed a peace treaty. Being a tributary ally was part of the deal. If Mongol did conquer Goryeo, there should have been no records of Goryeo, yet there is and it began way before Mongol empire, and ended after Yuan dynasty fell. Because tributary ally was part of the peace treaty, you can say Goryeo was part of Mongol empire. But technically, obviously with some historical evidence, it isn't. Still biggest empire. Be happy. =D =)
