Uplifting to watch on Holocaust Memorial Day. But life imprisonment, good food, good medical treatment (so they live a long time) and a CD being played 24/7 saying "Thou shalt not kill!" loudly to a solitary confinement cell for decades and decades is an alternative option I thought of for Anders Breivik and David Copeland, the nazi murderers of our time. Costly, though. Just a thought.
you can protect society by locking them away. In my country murderers get a life sentence, and believe it or not, it works. Prison and mental hospital are not far away from my home, but I still feel save. If you want real protection, you have to kill everyone walking around free. Then you will be sure that he or she will not become a murderer. I think we agree that this is impossible ; )
@Travolta73 One thing, Nazi Germany knew all about killing people who can’t defend themselves. As for future gas chambers, only in your depraved mind my friend. Germany had two attempts at the world title 1914-18 and again in 1939-45 even they aren’t stupid enough to try for a third shot. :o)
Murder is murder it does not matter who commits it. Death penalty itself is a murder crime committed by the state in the name of justice... Please read Albert Camus "Reflections on the Guillotine" and his opinion about death penalty... This penalty is still carried out by many many countries even today.
@sunearthmoonjupiter Wrong! Murder is the taking of an INNOCENT life with malice aforethought! Taking the life of a person who wrongfully deprives an innocent person the rest of their life is called JUSTICE! It is a PUNISHMENT! Your sense of reason obviously ends a little too early to be able to make that distinction.
how can justice be done by commiting another crime? You do not only "punish" the murderer, you bring even more grief and guilt upon other innocent people you need to involve in this. I am glad that capital punishment is abolished in my country. I would not want someone to kill (and get blood on his hands) for my feelings of vengeance.
And death is not a punishment. You don´t get the chance to learn from your mistake.
@I12BPhil No it is in fact people who support the death penalty who have a sense of reason that ends a little too early, before taking into consideration that the justice system will inevitably fail and convict innocent people even if it is rare. Death and confinement for life both satisfies that the criminal never commits a crime again. The only difference you get from death is vengeance. I don't think that even a single innocently executed human being is an acceptable price for vengeance
@Ymirheim Say that to all the peopled murdered in prison each year! People for simple crimes such as theft are commonly murdered in prison. People who probably made one mistake and were good people at heart! In the EU there's currently no capital punishment but I know if someone done something to me I considered a capital offence i'd shoot them myself!
@FieldMarshalRommel23 Which is EXACTLY why we have a justice system that is meant to be objective and not for personal vengeance. Obviously anyone who is affected by a terrible crime will want revenge, but that is not justice. If we wanted that then the punishment for every criminal would be decided by the victims and I don't think anyone would really want to live in that kind of world.
@sunearthmoonjupiter Agreed, in states where the death penalty has been abolished there has been no rise in crime. All the evidence shows that capital punishment does not reduce crime and does not act as a deterrent, those calling for its reintroduction are only motivated by the desire for vengeance, an emotional desire to hurt in response to their own hurt, to restore a feeling of power, authority and status for themselves and has nothing to do with Justice in a Civilised Society.
Your comrades souls are burning in Hell as we speak. Although this fine gentleman should have executed many, many more of their kind he did sent a couple of hundred of them through the trapdoor on their way to Hell. He gave those evil butchers a far more kind death than they deserved.Personally I would have reduced the lenght of their drop with five feet or so.
@Travolta73 Should have let the Americans do the job, (stwangled the poor buggers ,leave them dangling on the end of a wope for half an hour) better justice for those bastards dont you think?
@Travolta73 Do you even know what they did? They all committed crimes against humanity. They are not being killed because they are "German Comrades" they were killed because they tortured and killed innocent people at concentration camps. Now tell me, do you really think that they didn't deserve to die?

Believe me, being an executioner is no picnic. Hangmen have it tough - and eventually they do commit suicide.

Fuck Mr. Pierrepoint and his evil scum family members!
It's one thing to kill because the government and system force you to.
It's another thing to kill voluntarily. (Probably the most heinous thing on earth...)
He quit his job because he was unsatisfied with his payment. WHAT AN ASSHOLE!!!
May he burn in Hell.
deimudda007 11 months ago
@deimudda007 The Nazis were far worse than Albert Pierrepoint. They certainly didn't give their executed prisoners the luxury of a coffin.
