Since Mick said it to me whilst we were both waiting for our cars outside the Beverley Wilshire Hotel in the 60s - no, sadly no independent verification; so you'll just have to accept my delusional (not to mention perverted) account.
Catchy...Jagger was being cynical ofcourse. Since then there've been new kids on the block, called DEVO,who'se 1979 version is almost as good as The Stones'.
Is there any evidence, independent of King's delusional (not to mention perverted) imagination, that Jagger said this was 'the best after the Rolling Stones'? No, I thought not.
Yes, it's a cover; a cover of a cover. Tritons did their cover in Italy in 1970, internationally released in 1973. That and this start out the exact same way (Tritons' goes rock near the end). King is cool, but everyone should check out Tritons' "Rock Around The Clock", also on the Satisfaction album; it's FUN! yeah
when i first heard Jonathan King sing "Satisfaction" it cracked me up. Come to think of it what is a satisfaction? Nothing to be bothered about. And that's what he must have in mind - making The rolling Stones (my favourite group) morons. Because they were angry singing their song and Jonathan King doesn't care a fig.
Can't believe it! Ive been looking for this version for years!! I LOVE it! Have a look at Where have all the flowers gone by Marlene Dietrich and Canon (fantastic version) on youtube (if youre in this kind of mood. Eve of Destructions good too.
In Italy We have the same version performed by a few number members of New Trolls called The Tritons which used the same production of King: King was famous in the period in Italy because he produced the first lp of Genesis
there's an excellent compilation of King-produced singles from 72 to 76 on cherry red records called Bubblepop. I got it through the post today which lead me to this. check out Del's Motorbike Annie, which is also on youtube...
OK, I favorited this song two days ago and have been back more than once to listen to it again. Just love it. I had never heard it until two days ago. The thought occurs as to why this song never became a hit in the US. (I'm betting it was never even played in America. I grew up in NYC.)Besides the business aspect of the music business, the only thing I can think of is the "goddamn" at the end of the song, which would have never made it past US censors. Just love this version.
Absolutely love this version of "Satisfaction." And "Everyone's Gone to the Moon" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It's in my all time top ten. Thank you for the beautiful music, Jonathan.
"Thanks for the video. I havent heard this version for years. I agree with Perranpoth about your version.I look forward to your translation of my words into English !"

Thank you Cool - though I had to get a friend to translate the Dutch! I adore Holland - I used to go on Eddy Ready Go there! And had hits with Cherry Cherry and Million Dollar Bash there (nowhere else).
I don't know, King. I'm torn between your cover and Devo's cover for the definitive version of this tune.

@zfloid44 No; Tritons copied my version; note for note - as they did my version of Rock - both from the Bubblerock Is Here To Stay album.
VilePervert 9 months ago
@VilePervert OK, I may be corrected. Here To Stay was out in 1972, but was Tritons' Satisfaction not from 1970? Genesis lives. yeah

A musical genius? I think not, KINGROOSTER45..
This guy had some catchy tunes in the 70s, but they were invariably ALL rip offs from earlier hits by other artistes.
