cool, thanks,, is it a bad idea for me to use my $340 Sony HiFi stereo for this? will it overload or anything?

They don't sound as clear or as loud as full size Desktop HDDs, try it with some Desktop HDD's
yeh, the amp i was using was pretty average, as was the mobile phone i used to record them.

ok, BTW, what 2 terminals do you connect the wires to?? I see like 4 or 5 wires
pretty much find the 2 wires from the coil on the arm. i traced them to the plug for the pcb and soldered there.
