Anindo is a great player. But most players choose to play technical aspect of the tablat to show their skills to other tabla players. It all ends up with loads of tirakats, continuous tirakats, nothing but tirakats. To audience this can be terribly boring. Who wants to listen an hour of fluttering. If a vocalist just sang in raags, who will put up with that? For excellent keherva and how it should be played without classical blanket, listen to Keherwa Extravaganza Zakir Hussain and Tari Khan

the background is repetitive so that anindoji csn stay in the cycle of kehrwa and this was absolutely mindblowing

actually anindo Ji doesn't need it to stay on track...the lay is embeded in his mind....the lehran is more for our sake(The listeners)
