  • where is the backing track from

  • @joshuanesbit its a cd called todos los compases

  • Mine is starting to sound less embarrassing at 150bpm. I have to post it up here by the end of next week because I'm a bit tired of practising gloomy seguiriyas and want to practise some nice cheerful allegrias.

  • excellent!

yeah seguiriyas is funny, you have to be in the mood, but when you are you just keep playing it! ... :-D

  • Wow, what a joy to see! Someone practicing properly: slow enough to insure the technique and notes are correct WHILE actually listening AND counting - BRAVO!!!

What are you using for nails and how are you keeping from beating them up with your golpe work?

  • wow just noticed your comment so sorry for not replying sooner!

    thanks very much!

as for my nails, they're pretty short, i can't grow them without breaking them, but after a while i find i dont really need them to be long because i always play from where the finger and nail meet anyway!

  • where did u get the flamenco compas metronome?

  • thats a cd but go to the foroflamenco site and join the forum, they allow you to download free flamenco metronome software for your pc!

  • wow thats a cool site, thanks alot

  • It's coming along mate! Just be patient, practice slowly, and you'll be the next PdL in no time! ;)

  • thanks! with a bit of luck! ;-)

  • Excellente me amigo. Bravo!

    Bravo!

  • thanks!

  • Delboy! Where did you get that metronome that sounds like clapping. I want to get one. Also, What kind of mike do you use? Mine pops.

  • you can get the cds from a website called sonidoflamenco, or, for a free metronome program called flamenco master, register with the flamenco forum foroflamenco :-)

I just use the mic in my camera! :-s

  • thats a nice tip ! :)

  • Your right hand technique is improving, that's for sure. Try to minimize the movements, let the pulgar flow from your wrist, not the elbow ;)

  • will do, thanks for the tip! :-D

  • great technique delboy.....you have improved a lot.

    nice one

  • thanks uncleparsnip! :-D

  • Excellent Derek! I know you have a capo on the third fret here, but I was wondering why Flamenco players routinely capo the guitar on the first fret. Any idea? Thanks for the vid! -Derek

  • apparently it lowers the action on the rest of the neck, or so i was told. but i think traditionally each form his its own key, but there's nothing stopping you playing it elsewhere. i dunno! :-s

  • Ole Derek, sounding great amigo for me your best so far. great to see and hear you develop as a guitarist and a musician. Ole

  • thanks very much! i thought so too, glad you agree! :-D

  • gracias maestro very very good compas olèè

  • thanks hichem!

  • great seguiriyas delboy. Where can I find palmas an d that rythm bases, Todos los compases CD is not for sale in Spain. :O

  • you can get the cds from a website called sonidoflamenco

  • Beautifull! going to try this one, how did you get the palmas?

  • you can get the cds from a website called sonidoflamenco

  • wow derek i love this!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey did u know i can clap in compas? and dance flamenco tooo....just ask me and i will post a video for u...or maybe we can do a collaboration video? haha it would be muy bien mi amigo..

your flamenco really inspires me..hey one question: do u have a golpeador for your flamenco guitar? i cannot see any tapguard in the vid...just curious:)

    love u man

    ~gabriella

  • thanks!

and yes i have a set of golpeadors, i bought a normal scratch plate before then but i took it off as i was still getting nail marks in the wood :-0 ok now though :-)

  • Hi Dereck !! i see you dont stop playing. I like it, but if you want to give seguiriyas more sense: accentuate the last time with a 'golpe', and when you play rasgueado iam , you may try iamii, first time, and repeat it on the 3th, and 4th time ... well i dont know if i explain ok, i'll try to share something, im busy these days.

    Salud amigo !!!

  • wow ^^ very nice play ;) your sound is very clean and well 5*

  • Fantastic! Love it. Keep it up.

  • thanks very much! i think the palmas really helped me put more dynamics in it than before. thanks again!

  • awesome

  • thanks lonewolf!

  • that was a world record responce time lol

  • pretty fast huh?

  • That was so beautiful. but should you play this all alone? It is my question, because it is Flamenco!

  • well no-one else here can clap in compas, so it looks like i'm on my own!

  • very nice derek, you impressed me, good work!!

    great progress in your playing!

"tienes una grande pena" la seguirilla negra :)

  • muchas gracias amigo!

  • Great stuff Derek, it's great to see you play something so different from myself.

    A question for you:

Is this the full tempo or has it got to go any faster yet?

    Thanks buddy

    Paul

  • well thats the tempo but im sure when i learn more falsetas etc i can add faster parts etc. there are more seguiriyas later on in the book so i would guess so but look up seguiriyas on youtube and you'll find far superior versions than mine with a lot more variations etc

    thanks paul

    derek

  • I hope you don't think I was criticising, I'd not heard this before and I was just curious. This is a damned difficult style to master, I want you to know that I think you are doing a great job.

    Thanks dude

    :)

  • not at all! actually some solos of this form are actually a lot slower!

  • you look so serious babe in this one Xx
