Note: You CAN do this without the overpass barrel roll or any advanced rolls. i literally JUST scored 30.81 using only the 3 barrel rolls, but sideshifted like crazy. I think 6 sideshifts in total. But it is possible!!

my time is 31.70, i use the turbo at the starting line and hit all the pads, i then get an ugly double barrel roll (as in i know it can be better but cant work out how) i get some nice tight racing lines until the intersection, i cant do that barrel at all. 1/100 chance. but i can do the falling one onto the final pad. can i have more detail about the other "advanced" barrels

guys, i managed to do it with 5 barrel roles, I managed to pull the third barrel role on the narrow straight, try setting your motion controls to pitch only and at 100%, this helps alot since you don't have to pull back on the stick to do the barrel roles, I didn't beat the time in the guy's video however I did beat zico's time at 30.50, side shifting does help too, practice makes perfect and i'm a clear example :) good luck to ya who are still goin after it

Thank you so fucking much! I just got this after spending like 120 laps trying. Best way is to just learn the barrel roll on the overpass. It's just like you need to drive very high and then hold down and keep spamming the analog stick left and right.

@Melyr Watch your racing line, the most common thing I've seen is when people focus so hard on nailing the barrel rolls that their racing line suffers. Also, use sideshift to widen your turning circle where you can. It took me well in excess of 100 laps the first time I did it, it really is all about being patient.

You can do it with only 3 barrel rolls if you can't get the one onto the overpass, side-shifting to make your racing line straighter, 30.74 3 rolls and 14 pads. sideshifting helps like hell..

I just beat Zico!!!!! Thanks a lot for this video it helped a hell of a lot. Once I mastered the 2nd to last barrel roll( going up on the high straight that has a lot of speed pads) I knew I could do it. It was so annoying because I'd been stuck on a time of 30:96 for a while-14 milliseconds away!!! but finally about 10 mins ago I managed a time of 30:69 so I not only equaled Zico's time I beat it!! (However it is my understanding that Zico has beaten his time several times lol)

it should be adressed that only 3 barrel rolls are strictly essential. for the life of me i couldnt do the one onto the overpass. so eventually did it with just the one off the overpass, and the double on the second straight. with proper lines it left me with a time of 30.65. however the overpass barrel roll shaves off 0.5 secs pr lap. so if you are able to do it its definitely worth it

Fantastic video! Also, I would mention as a quick tip that you can start the joystick flicks a second before being in air. That considerably helped me pull off the barrel rolls.

I have just done this, and this video helped a lot. Things I would empasise are:

1) Sideshift off of the 3rd pad instead of just before it.

2) Pull the nose up and keep it up when rolling

3) Kepe the exit of the long left hander smooth when you attempt to roll onto the overpass. Aim your ship right and roll LEFT

4) Roll ONTO the last speed pad instead of landing just before it. Someone worked out you get a 1.5x boost this way.

I'm done, got it down to 31.91 secs, never gonna try again after nearly breaking another controller. Barrel rolls are completely random as to whether they work or not, ive been up several times when a roll fails (usually the last one off the ramp), i can rarely ever do it onto the ramp so i gave up trying. You guys make barrel rolls look so goddamn easy, but the analogue controller is either too slow at responding, or ignores parts of the input so it fails. I give up on this shit.

I'm still working on this trophy and I'm sure it will take me a while but I'm persistant.

My only difficulty is that I use the digital pad with wipeout games (have done so since the first game on PS1) and barrel rolls are much more difficult with the digital than they are the analog so for that high platform on the final stretch I have to switch from digital to analog. :-(

Check your racing line, make sure you're taking every corner as tightly as you can. It's all well and good pulling off all the barrel rolls and hitting all the speed pads, but if your racing line isn't tight enough you'll still fall short.

No, the Fury craft has exactly the same top speed. It does have slightly improved thrust but it makes virtually no difference on Venom class

I did this in 30.71. I didnt bother lifting my nose up, but to do the barrel rolls I licked my left thumb so it slid over the directional button alot quicker.

I did it in the Fury Piranha so yes it still counts and it does add a bit of an advantage (dunno how much though). I can't believe I got 30.72 after so many 30.82-30.92s, for instance I got a 30.83... 1hundredth off the time needed.

This might not be right, but after the fourth s pad on when you jump off to do the fourth b roll if you land on the top of the wall it seems to help. First, better line to the last s pad and line, no wall trouble. Second, less time in the air.

The speed pads make an awful lot of difference, especially on Venom class. Sounds like that's all you're missing from your run :)
