@JIMBO5444 Nothing is wrong. Its just the type of approach. happens whenever the winds are right for this runway. Looks like the Expressway Visual at LaGuardia. To add to it, theres a strong crosswind. I think the poster just mean it was a tough landing, but managed to pull it off quite well.
wow what a critical landind you dont acually know what he did ther the pilot he just changed the way he landed he just landed with a twist nose he just changed the rudders position
Rather a definite landing than floating halfway down the runway surely? I wonder if he was doing a dog leg to allow a departure - you can see one climbing away as he turns onto short finals.
That was a botched approach. He overshot the turn from base to final because he wasn't accounting for the wind properly and pulled a couple turns to recover... all company policies require a stabilized approach and he never had one. Plus he landed without using the rudder to align the plane with the runway causing strong side-loading of the gear and lots of tire rubber scrubbed off. All in all, a pretty terrible landing.
@shafferpilot If aircraft is not in "landing configuration" ? i.e. on glide slope, on the path, within speed range, there would be only one consequence . Landing abort by tower or by Captain. If Delta landed, there was correct approach procedure executed. ( piece of paper right in front of Cap. and Co-pilot :)
am I the only one thinking that - while admiring the pilots flying skills - that this was a really really rough landing? look closely, there's almost no vertical deceleration before touchdown, he just BAMS on the runway.
@hydenshribby Yeah i agree, but maybe is a choice. If you keep in mind the wind condition is better to get the wheels on the runway as soon as possible instead of floating some feet over the runway in search of a "smooth landing".Imho.

@Igamec, dude that was an airbus not a 37-300, come on man if you work on them then you should be able to tell the difference. Ive worked on almost all the 37's and they don look like airbuses. Ive also worked on airbuses and they are a much more mechanic friendly airplane...
@willsgotrythm42 Delta didn't own airbuses until the merger. Pause at 0:38. It is clearly a 737-300. @MsPilot747 I've been on many flights before and have never experienced a plane make such a sharp turn so close to landing. I cant see how you could describe the pilot as "awesome". That didn't look safe!
I was on a plane that landed like that in Providence in 2001. Not fun. Remember that scene in "Trains PLanes and Automobiles", where Steve Martin and John Candy end up having to pry their fingertips from the dashboard? Yeah...kinda like that.
Last minute "S" turns are not usually part of that approach at less than 1000 AGL but there was departing traffic. Pause at about 0:47 look next to the tree on the right
@victorarroyo562 LaGuardia Airport in NYC my hometown. Runway 31. Called the "Expressway Visual" because pilots follow the Long Island Expressway right before making a descending left turn to line up with the runway. Add the crosswind and the fact that the tower told him to perform a last minute S turn to allow for a departing traffic. A bit nerve wracking for the passengers but damn good pilot if you ask me...
that wasent an S approach he was langing at la guardia in nyc and that approach calls for a turn to line up with the runway at the last second i think its called expressway visual? idk there has to be other videos but he did over do the turn because he was off center line and you can tell the last 5 seconds before touchdown. it does look like S turns though i see where your coming from #ralstonjack
The pilot was performing an 'S' approach to increase separation to traffic ahead vacating the runway (obviously cannot be seen no more in the video). Nothing 'critical' about this
@ralstonjack 1. The departing traffic is using the same runway. 2 a visual App which requires such a turn over the threshold to correct an OVERSHOOTING requires a GO AROUND 3. You are an ill mannered Flight simulator pilot. 4. I fly a 737. OVER !!!!!!
P.D I am not blaming the pilot, he corrected the maneuver perfectly , this can happen to anybody.
@Flyfisherman1962 He hasnt done anything wrong. This is a classic example of what is known as a crosswind landing....sometimes pilots have no choice but to go for a crosswind landing
