Wonderful, totally covers the relationship hardship that Jean and Nadia go through, though I preffered if you didn't put the scenes in which Nadia ressurects Jean, it would look more tragic if you just put Jean's death scene near the end of the video to show how after all he tried to do for her he ended up dying.
i tried to cry. no joke you really can let out all your emotions, but i ve cried a long time ago the last time and that sucks and the amv was really good and i love the series ^^
One should watch the fist 22 ones, then 31 and then the one were they arrive at the ruins of tartessos...Those fillers got more and more stupid over time...
In a word: beautiful. Absolutely spectacular. Your truly captured the dramatic romance and elements in jean and Nadia's life PLUS, managed to add Nemo's plight with Nadia in as well without it overbearing the romance. Very nicely done, definitely going on my fav. playlist.
Great Vid! What kind of master (video transfer) did you use to make it? Cause it looks really great. I'm from Germany and the german dvds really suck, because they used a bad quality german master. I watched them several times, but then sold them hoping to find better dvds somewhere. If this scenes were taken from the U.S. dvds you can be pretty happy over there!
Well, in the beginning and the Nautilus episodes, Nadia wasn't so irritating, but when the show went into its second half with the absolutely ABYSMAL island and African episodes... well, let's say that I found myself hating her with a vengeance. I blame that, however, on bad writing and character development, as those latter episodes were artificially added on and not up to the standard of the first 22 or final 5 episodes.
You do have to admit that she wasn't all bad, though: the Nautilus episodes do showcase her slowly coming out of her shell as she grows to care for Jean--one touching scene in this clip includes where she tries to comfort him over the death of his father. And how about the heartwarming gyrocopter scene? Or the episodes where they were rescuing Marie? She was likeable then.
She only became really nasty and unbearable when the Island and African episodes came around--the writers really raped her personality there; actually, they did that with all the other characters as well. Bottom-line: NADIA is a good series, but those absolutely DREADFUL episodes in the second half should be avoided. They are very, very, very bad.
I've seen the series a few times, and I agree but honestly, why didn't they make her bad in the beginning, and make her better towards the end? Instead they did it in reverse.
I found that pretty annoying myself. Again, I blame all that on bad character development and writing, as many of the episodes in the second half were very cartoonish and not at all credible. I had the assumption that NADIA was supposed to be about a girl who gradually transforms through her love for Jean, but those episodes in the second half mess it all around. Once you drop those episodes from the show, it's easier to appreciate it as a whole.
That's true, but there were some episodes during the Areas you said, where she wasn't as irratable, but then something would happen to turn her back to being a total bitch.
I always felt that the nastiest she got during the Nautilus episodes was when she feared losing Jean to Electra, but even then, that was done with credibility. The Lincoln Island and African arcs on the other hand, well, I think the writers were on crack when they wrote those episodes, because I don't think, if they were in their right mind, they'd have her act so looney on LI or like a slut in Africa--those were the worst offenders.
Jean is definitely one of the most tolerant Anime heroes around (not to mention one of the sweetest--and most competent). I think that's why he is THE one for Nadia; his optimism, patience, and constant loyalty are strong enough to subdue her personality flaws.
But yeah, I hated the episodes where she treats him badly; considering all he's doing for her, it's saddening to have those episodes. Some of them are important to her growth (on the Nautilus), but the ones on the island and African arc seem to come out of nowhere. That's where I started to wonder why Jean puts up with her (until I realized those were never meant to exist).
The first 22 episodes and the final five had the feel of a genuinely well-plotted series. However, in the filler sequence (23-34), it felt as though the scripting and direction was all over the place. That's when I found out that they were hurriedly put together to fit the demand for NHK, hence the subpar quality of those episodes (although I do admit that episode 31 is the only to come clean out of all the mess).
Definitely. I have no doubt that Nadia was intended to be a troubled heroine, just not as outrageously as depicted in the latter filler episodes, and I don't think a majority of those island and African episodes were even supposed to happen. Like I said, I choose to skip over them, because they don't count as part of the continuity IMO.
One of Sadamoto's earlier works, I became interested in this anime through evangelion, i havent seen it but i plan to, she kind of reminds me of misato but darker.
Awwww... sooo amazing! By far the best Nadia AMV I've ever seen in my entire life. Your right, it is rather sad too. But then again the series can be sad so... :D

Yeah, they ought to run some sort of drug test on their writers, but of course, they won't or they'll give some dumbass excuse.

What really amazes me is that no matter how horrible she gets, Jean still sticks by her, If you ask me, It's not worth it.

What do you mean? I thought they plotted the episodes, not just wrote down whatever pops into their heads.

Ah, so that's why, still it would have been much better and smarter if they'd thought out their episodes.

If by troubled you mean that one minute she's divoted, the next she flies off into a rage about this and that.

That's what I meant.

You're right overall, if you just drop those episodes the series becomes much more bearable.
